Pokemon: Rising From The Dark

Chapter 160: Recruiting a Group

There were still two Sharpedo left. Seeing the damage done by the skill of Slowking, they were frightened and dived directly into the water.

Seeing their movements, Aoki stepped forward and put his hand on the shoulder of Slowking, saying, "Let's go, don't let them run away."

Slowking nodded.

With Psychic Power, he jumped directly into the water with Aoki.

A protective barrier wrapped Aoki up, so there was no need to worry about not being able to breathe.

"Slowking, use Psychic Power to push forward and control the water flow to speed up," Aoki said.

No matter how much stronger Slowking's Psychic-type talent is compared to his Water-type talent, he is still a Water-type Pokémon, and his speed in the water is nothing to scoff at.

Coupled with the aid of Psychic Power, the two fast-swimming Sharpedo were no match for Slowking's speed.

If it weren't for taking care of Aoki, Slowking might have been even faster.

At full speed, Slowking was like a torpedo.

"While catching up, gather your Psychic Power. This time, make the shape of the awl thinner and longer."

Following Aoki's instructions, Slowking compressed his Psychic Power into the shape of a javelin.

It shot straight toward one of the Sharpedo.

The Psychic Spear pierced through the water with ease, embedding itself into the Sharpedo's body.

Rolling its eyes back, the Sharpedo fainted instantly.

Only the Sharpedo leader remained.

Slowking swung his tail powerfully, increasing his speed again!

Whoosh!

Slowking closed the gap between himself and the Sharpedo leader.

With increased familiarity from repeated use, Slowking condensed two spears simultaneously. Looking at his reddened face, it was evident he was nearing his limit.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

The two spears seemed unaffected by the water's resistance, cutting through the currents as they homed in on the Sharpedo leader.

No matter how hard it tried to escape, the superpowered spears continued to close in.

Both spears struck the Sharpedo leader simultaneously.

The double impact rendered it unconscious, flipping belly-up as it floated toward the surface.

"Take them, and we'll go back."

These two Sharpedo had only lost their ability to battle, which didn't diminish their value. Aoki intended to capture them and exchange them for points at the Hunter's Guild.

Slowking transformed his Psychic Power into thin threads, wrapping around the two unconscious Sharpedo and dragging them back into the underground cave.

A minute later, Aoki and Slowking surfaced in the underground cave.

The ground was littered with fainted Carvanha and three Sharpedo.

Aoki activated his System, scanning all the Pokémon on the ground, selecting only those with high potential.

Among the three Sharpedo, the leader had a dark green potential, while the other two were green.

Among the Carvanha, none had dark green potential. One had green potential, which Aoki captured, along with four others of light green potential.

Generally, Pokémon with high potential have higher levels, which explains why those that evolved into Sharpedo were of superior potential.

It was evident that potential played a significant role in a Pokémon's growth.

The total value of the captured Pokémon should be enough for Aoki to advance to a four-star hunter.

If one wanted to quickly raise their Hunter rank and earn more money, the fastest method was to eliminate a large wild Pokémon population.

"Alright, let's leave the remaining Carvanha here. They won't be able to cause much trouble. Slowking, tell your kin and see if they're willing to come along."

"Yah dong!" Slowking stepped forward and addressed the Slowpoke group.

Soon, all the Slowpoke nodded in agreement.

In truth, there was no need to ask them. They had already accepted Slowking as their leader and would follow wherever he led.

After Slowking relayed the results to Aoki, he said, "That's settled, then. Let's go. We need to bring the Absol mother and her cubs back as well."

Aoki hadn't forgotten the four Absol waiting for him on the shore.

It was thanks to Absol's warning that Aoki discovered the hidden Slowpoke colony beneath the lake, leading to Slowking's evolution.

In Aoki's eyes, Absol wasn't a disaster Pokémon but an omen of good fortune!

Recalling his Pokémon into their Pokéballs, Aoki followed Slowking as he swam to shore, bringing along the Slowpoke who hadn't been in the water for a long time.

When they reached the shore, the Absol mother seemed to sense something and was already prepared to leave.

"Let's head back. Slowking, how many Pokémon can you teleport with you now?" Aoki asked.

"Yah dong." Slowking cried out, and all the Slowpoke released thin filaments of Psychic Power, attaching them to him.

"The current distance can be reached directly," Slowking replied.

Aoki's eyes lit up. There were more than thirty Slowpoke and four Absol present—nearly forty Pokémon in total. While it was a heavy burden on Slowking, it also demonstrated his impressive progress.

Placing one hand on Slowking's shoulder and the other on Absol's mother, Aoki prepared for teleportation.

Slowking's eyes glowed blue, his entire body radiating Psychic Power. Through the filaments, he wrapped all the Slowpoke in his energy.

After ten seconds of concentration, they all vanished from the lakeside.

When they reappeared, they were in the backyard of Aoki's residence.

Thud.

Slowking dropped to one knee, sweat beading on his forehead.

It was clear that teleporting such a large number of Pokémon had pushed him to his limit.

"Slowking, recover with Calm Mind." Aoki patted Slowking's shoulder before turning to address the others. "Slowpoke, you can stay in that pond for now. I'll expand it soon. Absol, stay here for a couple of days. I'll stabilize the little Absol first—it might take some time."

Hearing Aoki's words, the Slowpoke glanced at Slowking with concern but trusted Aoki completely. They obediently waddled toward the temporary pond.

The Absol mother hesitated for a moment before nodding. She moved to a secluded corner, gently placing her three Absol cubs down to rest.

Aoki watched them settle in, nodding in satisfaction.

He had successfully brought home an entire group of Pokémon.

Everything was falling into place.
