Chapter 215: 215. The Seven Legendary Pokemon's Battle
----
In the midst of the battle, the four legendary Pokémon had all taken notice of the sudden arrival of three more.
The original three legendary birds momentarily halted their fight, eyeing their counterparts cautiously. They had no idea where these newcomers had come from or what their intentions were.
Meanwhile, Lugia took advantage of this brief pause to catch its breath.
But before any interaction could take place, the three newcomers attacked first without warning!
This sudden assault instantly enraged the original three, Were these intruders here to steal their territory? Or were they just looking for a fight?
They didn't even exchange a single word before attacking!
Without hesitation, the original legendary birds abandoned their battle with Lugia and instead turned their full fury on these newcomers.
Fire clashed against fire.
Ice met ice.
Lightning crackled against lightning.
In an instant, six legendary birds engaged in a full-scale aerial battle, their powerful attacks illuminating the darkened sky.
Despite having been captured so easily by the collector, the three original legendary birds were proving their strength.
Their attacks packed immense power, shaking the very land, sea, and sky around them.
Within only a few exchanges, it was clear that the legendary birds from the Orange Islands were superior.
While Kai's Moltres was able to hold its ground, both Articuno and Zapdos were starting to struggle.
But Kai wasn't surprised or worried this wasn't a structured Pokémon battle with rules.
In a free-for-all fight, strategy mattered more than one-on-one strength. He didn't need to fight fair he could overwhelm his enemies through teamwork and coordination.
His eyes locked onto Articuno the legendary bird of ice.
The weakest link.
It wasn't that Articuno was inherently weaker than the others it was a matter of type advantage.
Moltres, the strongest of the three, had a clear advantage against Articuno.
Fire beats Ice.
With Zapdos supporting with Electric-type attacks, they could quickly take down Articuno and gain the upper hand.
With this in mind, Kai released Gardevoir.
Since he was too far away to shout commands, he needed telepathic communication to coordinate his Pokémon.
Gardevoir placed a hand on Kai's shoulder, her gaze locking onto the three legendary birds.
'Moltres! Stop fighting the enemy Moltres! Target Articuno instead!'
'Zapdos, support with Thunderbolt! Electric moves are super effective against Flying-types!'
'Articuno, hold back the enemy Moltres and Zapdos! Don't let them interfere stall for time!'
The three legendary birds immediately changed tactics, each focusing on their assigned targets.
Next, Kai turned to Gardevoir again. "Link me to Lugia."
Gardevoir's eyes glowed softly as she extended her telepathic link to the Guardian of the Seas.
'Lugia, I'm the Trainer of these three legendary birds. I need your help. Join my Articuno in holding back Moltres and Zapdos!'
A deep, calm voice echoed in Kai's mind.
'Huh?.. I see… So you are the chosen one?'
'No, I'm not,' Kai immediately corrected. 'I'm just a Pokémon Trainer who happened to get involved in this mess. The true "Chosen One" is my friend he's already heading to Ice Island to retrieve the final treasure.'
'I understand…' Lugia paused for a moment before responding. 'You are right. No matter who you are, in a crisis like this, anyone who can help should do their part. I will fight alongside you to buy time for the Chosen One's return.'
With the three new legendary birds joining the battle, Lugia's burden was eased.
It could now focus more on offence rather than just survival.
Lugia opened its mouth, gathering a massive energy blast before firing a powerful Hydro Pump straight at Moltres.
BOOM!
The fiery legendary bird barely managed to dodge, but it wasn't fast enough one of its wings got grazed by the blast of water.
"SKREEEE!!!"
With a pained screech, it reeled backwards, struggling to keep itself airborne.
Even with a type disadvantage, the difference in raw power was undeniable Lugia was stronger than any of them.
Meanwhile, Kai's Moltres and Zapdos had successfully cornered Articuno.
Flames and lightning crashed down from both sides. Articuno was trapped, forced to defend from both directions.
Although it fought back ferociously, it couldn't handle attacks from both angles at once. It was taking more and more damage, and its movements were slowing down.
Sensing the danger, Zapdos instinctively tried to rush in and help Articuno.
However, just as it moved, Kai's Articuno swooped in and blocked it!
Kai smirked, 'The battle was shifting in his favour'
If they could eliminate Articuno first, they would have full control of the battlefield.
For a brief moment, Kai's gaze drifted toward Ash.
Ash had already made it back to his makeshift snowboard, using Charizard's tail flames to propel himself across the icy landscape toward Ice Island.
But…His progress was slow.
The constant shockwaves from the battle forced him to dodge repeatedly, preventing him from moving in a straight line.
Still, things were looking good overall.
That is until it happened.
Dozens of metallic rings suddenly shot out from the frozen crater of Lightning Island, surrounding Lugia in an instant!
Each ring crackled with blue energy, locking Lugia in place.
"No!" Kai's heart sank.
The collector had made his move!
This was Kai's mistake he had been so focused on the battle that he forgot about the collector.
At the time, he had assumed the man had died in the shipwreck. But clearly, he had survived and now he had taken his chance to strike!
The collector had only one target Lugia.
With no hesitation, he had unleashed his specialized capture technology in an attempt to subdue the Guardian of the Seas.
"Gyoooon!!"
Lugia roared in pain, thrashing against the metal rings but it was no use. No matter how hard it struggled, the rings tightened, draining its energy.
With Lugia immobilized, the balance of the battle had completely shifted.
Kai's mind raced.
If Lugia was taken out of the fight, they had no chance of stopping the legendary birds.
If they tried to free Lugia, it would give the three enemy birds a chance to recover. If they ignored Lugia, the battle would become even more chaotic.
He had only one choice.
His eyes hardened as he issued his final command.
'Moltres! Zapdos! Articuno! There's no time! We have to take one of them down NOW!'
'Use the ultimate move as our trump card!!'
