At night, Chris sat on the balcony, gazing at the bright night sky. A table in front of him held skewers and a cold beer. Across from him, Gardevoir sat gracefully, engrossed in a play on a tablet.

The rest of the Pokémon were downstairs, with Machamp, the barbecue master, taking charge of the grilling. It seemed he had a natural talent for cooking. His large hands, usually used for heavy-duty tasks, proved advantageous for barbecuing. Machamp could hold and grill nearly a hundred skewers at once, with a speed rivaling that of five or six skilled grill chefs.

Blaziken stood nearby, expertly controlling the flames, while Greninja sliced ingredients into perfect sizes and skewered them using Cut. Chris couldn't help but muse that if they set up a barbecue stall at school, they'd surely make millions each month.

The spicy barbecue filled the air with a tantalizing aroma, so irresistible that even Axew and Tyrunt, usually rowdy and attention-seeking, sat quietly and obediently. With Machamp grilling over 100 skewers at a time, there was plenty to go around, and every Pokémon enjoyed their fair share.

Seeing his Pokémon so content, Chris felt at ease. Taking a bite of a juicy skewer and washing it down with a sip of chilled beer, he sighed with satisfaction. "This is the life," he murmured.

Gardevoir handed him a tissue to wipe his hands, and after cleaning up, Chris picked up his handheld console. He was ready to continue his journey in the Hoenn Region.

Having recently obtained the HM Surf, Chris could now travel east from Mauville City, crossing the strait of Route 118 to reach Route 119 and eventually Fortree City, home to the sixth gym. The Fortree Gym specialized in Flying-types, and while Chris didn't have an Electric-type Pokémon, he was confident that his Rock-type powerhouse, Tyranitar, would dominate the challenge.

However, as Chris passed through Mauville City, he encountered Wattson, the gym leader. Wattson asked for his help with a mission—to shut down the main power supply at the underground power plant. Chris remembered that completing this quest would reward him with the powerful Electric-type move Thunderbolt and a rare item.

He made his way to Route 110, used Surf to access the power plant's entrance, and unlocked the gate with the key Wattson provided. As he stepped forward, a message popped up:

[Enter special dungeon: "Runaway Underground Power Plant"?]

[Recommended level: ?]

[Current charge progress: 0%]

"A dungeon? Interesting," Chris muttered, intrigued by the challenge. The suggested level was marked as a mystery, and the "charge progress" detail was unusual.

He saved his progress before stepping inside. A flash of light surrounded him, and he found himself in the game world.

The area he entered was an abandoned office, eerily quiet. Overhead lights flickered sporadically, casting unsettling shadows. Papers and documents were scattered haphazardly across desks and the floor, a testament to the staff's hasty evacuation. The faint hum of electricity in the air sent a tingling sensation over Chris's skin.

"Let's do this. Garchomp!" Chris called, tossing a Poké Ball.

With a loud roar, Garchomp emerged, ready for action. Electric-type Pokémon dominated this dungeon, and Ground-types like Garchomp were perfect counters. Alongside Garchomp, Chris summoned Gardevoir, who stood protectively by his side.

The office branched into two paths: one leading left and the other right. Chris chose the right path first. At the end of the corridor, an iron door blocked the way. It appeared to be a dead end.

Undeterred, Chris prepared to backtrack and explore the other route. The adventure was only beginning.

Chris recalled that the iron gates in the underground power plant were usually operated by switches scattered throughout the facility. These mechanisms required someone to find and activate the corresponding switch, often by stepping on it, to open the gate. However, the sheer number of such switches in the plant made the process tedious.

"Why does a power plant even need such a complicated system?" Chris muttered to himself.

Deciding to take matters into his own hands, he turned to Garchomp. "Garchomp, Dragon Claw!" he commanded, ready to take the direct approach.

In real life, Chris might have hesitated to destroy property like this, especially if it was for someone like Wattson. But since this was just a game, why not take the fun route?

With a powerful swipe of its claws, Garchomp slashed through the iron gate. Not content to stop there, it followed up with a Take Down, sending the heavy gate flying.

The area behind the gate was finally revealed. Chris saw three Magnetons, seven Magnemites, and a towering Magnezone, sparks flying as they seemed to chatter among themselves.

The sound of the gate crashing down drew their attention. The eleven Pokémon immediately turned to face Chris and Garchomp, their eyes crackling with electricity.

Chris quickly scanned their levels:

Magnezone Lv. 43, Magneton Lv. 35, Magnemite Lv. 27.

"Nothing to worry about. Just some weaklings!" Chris said with a smirk. "Garchomp, use Earthquake!"

With a mighty roar, Garchomp stomped its legs into the ground. The impact sent tremors rippling outward, shattering the floor within a three-meter radius and cracking the walls. An invisible shockwave spread like a tidal wave, causing debris to rain down.

The electrical Pokémon let out chaotic cries as the Earthquake hit. Sparks erupted like miniature fireworks, illuminating the room for a brief moment before fading. The powerful attack instantly knocked out two Magnetons and four Magnemites. The remaining Pokémon withstood the attack thanks to their Sturdy Ability, which allowed them to cling to life with 1 HP when struck by a move that would otherwise knock them out in one blow. Even so, they were left gravely injured.

Magnezone, the most formidable of the group, reacted differently. Rather than launching an attack, it used Magnet Rise, floating up to the ceiling to avoid the Earthquake.

"Not bad," Chris said with a grin. "But you're not getting away. Garchomp, use Rock Smash!"

Garchomp charged forward, sparks flying beneath its feet as it propelled itself toward the ceiling. Its glowing claws, imbued with the power of Rock Smash, slashed through the air and struck Magnezone before it could counter.

The impact sent Magnezone crashing to the floor. As Garchomp landed, Gardevoir stepped in, unleashing a brilliant Dazzling Gleam that engulfed the battlefield. The remaining Magneton and Magnemite, already hanging on by a thread, were knocked out completely.

The room fell silent as the dust settled. Chris gave an approving nod to his Pokémon. "Great work, both of you. Let's keep moving forward."
