Chapter 3: Preparations (Part 1)
Alexander Hartlox was born in 1998 in Washington D.C, United States. His mother used to joke that he was her little heart attack, not because of love, but because he arrived two weeks early. He entered the world red-faced and healthy, lungs strong and loud. No complications, no heroic interventions. Just a normal boy with brown eyes and a slow, sleepy blink.
Alex went to school for the first time when he was three, there he met the person who would become her best friend for a long time, Emily.
Emily was the popular girl, cute and extroverted. She had twin ponytails and a tough personality. She liked videogames, manga and anime. Alex was also an extroverted boy, determined and brave. He had an unruly hair, but unlike Emily, he wasn't the popular kid, he was the smart kid.
They had a lot in common, they were both extroverts, had a tough personality, and since Emily introduced him to it, die-hard fans of Pokemon. And they were, and still are, also obsessed with Dragon ball, One piece, Naruto, and many others.
They were inseparable, they both played almost the same games and finished them at almost the same time, they watched together various animes, and they read together the best mangas. Not only that, but because they went to each other's house almost daily, they basically lived there. Unfortunately, Emily's father got a raise and because of that, they had to move.
They were twelve when that happened.
Of course, they were both heartbroken, so they swore to never forget each other. At first, they stayed in touch, and they called each other daily. But then they called each other every two days, then three, every once in a month, until they lost contact. Alex missed deeply his best friend, so he decided to work hard in the name of their friendship.
Years passed, he was the best student in his school, and he graduated with honors. His parents were proud of him, but he always thought of his best friend. He remembered all the times that they were together, that they watched anime, and read mangas at the same time. He remembered the one time that they made a manga story by themselves, together. They made two versions, one for him, one for Emily. The story was awful, he admitted, but it was made with passion, just by the two of them. He kept it, and so did she. Each time he felt lonely, he looked at the cover, read the manga, and remember that he had a friend, who missed him too. And that motivated him to keep going and to follow his dreams.
Eventually, he went to university. He studied digital illustration, with the hopes of being a mangaka one day. That day came sooner than he thought, because an important manga company was hiring. He was determined to get the job, but unfortunately, he overslept and wasn't able to arrive on time. And in his rush, he forgot his papers, and those papers that contained his drawings.
He wanted to get hired, he wanted the job. And he was so concentrated in that, that he even passed the red light multiple times, and at the end, he was struck by a car.
After that things got crazy, he died, but he didn't go to heaven. He got stuck in an endless void for some time, and aparently God put him there because he was an anomaly, and he wasn't supposed to die.
The God then told him the future, and it was pretty good, but something shocked him to the core. He told him that he was going to marry Emily at the end. And that was not all, then he told him that Emily also knew the future, and for a second he thought she was dead as well. Luckily, that wasn't the case.
After that, the God finally told him what was going to happen him. Apparently, he was going to be reincarnated in the world of Pokemon.
----------
[Alex's POV]
"You have to be fuc#$%& kidding me".
"No, I am afraid not, although I expected that reaction from you" God said.
Alex took a deep breath.
"Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Alex shouted.
"Seriously?"
"What?"
"Forget it, now I will bring you to Arceus, it is time for your transmigration. Are you ready?" God asked him.
Alex then thought about everything, his life, his death, his possible future... And he made a decision.
"Yes, I am ready".
"Very well, I recommend you to prepare yourself, because in order for you to successfully be transmigrated, I'll need to rearrange your molecules at an atomic level, and that would hurt a lot. So instead, I'm going to knock you out".
"Wait what do you mean with...?"
He blacked out immediately afterwards.
----------
[Unknown amount of time later]
"Urghhh, come on....." Alex growled.
"Greetings, human".
"!!!"
Arceus, the Pokemon God. The moment Alex saw him, he couldn't take his eyes off him. Although he had already seen him in the games and anime, that was nothing compared to the real deal.
He was a quadrupedal in appearance and primarily white. Its most distinctive feature was a golden wheel-shaped cross attached to its torso. It had a white body, a gray underside with vertical ridges, and golden hooves.
"A-Arceus?"
"Correct human" Arceus said.
'This can't fuc#$%& be' Alex thought.
"Yes, it can be" Arceus said out of nowhere.
"!!!!"
"You read my mind!"
"Yes, of course. All Gods can do that, didn't your God tell you?"
"Ummmmmm, no. He only told me about my death, future, about that I wasn't supposed to die, and that the Pokemon God was interested in me and that he was going to reincarnate me in his world. It was obvious that it was you, and my God confirmed it immediately afterwards"
"I see, and the part where you say I am interested in you is right. And the part where I wanted to reincarnate you in my world is right as well".
"Why did he agree in the first place? I mean, he told me that you Gods always try to find something interesting and stuff. So I really doubt he'd me away that easily". Alex said.
"You are right about that mortal. He didn't give you away that easily".
"So why did he accept?" Alex asked.
"Well, did he tell you that you could not go back to his world? Arceus asked.
"Yes".
"Good, this will make things easier".
Arceus started explaining.
"If he really wanted to relieve his boredom, he couldn't just keep you, where's the fun in that?" Arceus continued. "So, he wanted to find a suitable universe for you to reincarnate. Then, he and the God of that universe would watch your life. Because of that, you would get your second chance, and we could find something entertaining. A win-win situation".
"However, that is not the full reason. My world always needs its protectors, so I send my chosen ones. My chosen ones are strictly selected humans, they protect the world, and to be able to do it, I give them special abilities".
As Arceus said that, the image of a certain ten year old boy popped up in his head.
'So that is why Ash had the power of aura, super-strength and evolved resistance' Alex concluded, as he remembered all the times that Ash carried Cosmoem, Larvitar and hippopotas, all of which are extremely heavy. Not to mention that he also was able to resist Pikachu's Thunderbolt, and endure Charizard's flamethrower, along with other attacks.
"But in recent years" Arceus continued. "more and more threats have emerged, and at the same time less and less competent chosen ones are born".
"So not only I am here to reincarnate because this world will make my life more interesting, but because I am going to be the responsible of saving the world?".
"Yes".
Alex took a deep breath.
"Fu#$ yeah!!! Count me in!!"
"That is the spirit, but before you are reborn, you will need some information".
"Alright, let's do this!"
