Pokémon: The Cheating Life

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: First Charge Gift Pack

**Chapter 2: First Charge Gift Pack**

"Charmander, use Dragon Rush!" Ronaldinho shouted. Charmander swung its body, enveloped in dragon energy, and charged into the Sandshrew beside it. The impact created an explosion, sending Sandshrew crashing to the ground, unconscious and unable to fight.

"Roar!" Charmander cried out as a bright light radiated from its body, transforming into Charmeleon. Ronaldinho rushed over to hug Charmeleon and exclaimed, "Finally evolved? Great job, Charmeleon! This is your 20th consecutive victory."

"Buyi!" Eevee, nearby, shouted joyfully, celebrating Charmeleon's evolution.

Ronaldinho stepped back from Charmeleon and asked, "Is there anyone else who wants to challenge me? If not, I'm heading to eat."

The crowd began to murmur: "This Ronaldinho from Pallet Town is incredible. He's defeated 20 trainers in just two days."

"Yeah, and now that his Charmander has evolved into Charmeleon, he's going to be even tougher to beat."

Noticing that no one was stepping forward to challenge him anymore, Ronaldinho shook his head, returned Charmeleon and Eevee to their Poké Balls, and walked back to the Pokémon Center. This was the Pokémon Center in Viridian City, where Ronaldinho had arrived two days earlier to challenge all the trainers. Though he initially struggled, he learned how to battle effectively with Charmander and gradually improved his skills. Now, he has achieved an impressive record of 20 consecutive victories.

"System, have you completed the task?" he murmured while enjoying the free lunch provided by the Pokémon Center.

"Ding! Congratulations to the host for completing 20 consecutive victories and finishing the side quest: 20 Consecutive Victories. Rewards: Power of Bonds, 20 Diamonds, and 1,000 Popularity Points."

Ronaldinho felt a wave of emotion wash over him. The effort he put in over the past two days had paid off, especially since Ash and the others had already rushed ahead. Just a day ago, Ash had burst into the Pokémon Center with Officer Jenny, holding Pikachu in his arms.

Curious to see if the system truly integrated with this world, Ronaldinho approached Ash. Surprisingly, Ash recognized him and said he would visit his house for dinner next time.

Witnessing the system's power made Ronaldinho excited for his future. Meeting the protagonist triggered his eagerness to engage with the events surrounding Ash and the others. He was envious of the powerful Pokémon Ash had, but he knew the system had set a challenging goal for him.

**Main Quest – Master's Path:** "Quality over Quantity. The number of Pokémon does not determine strength. Only elite Pokémon can help you advance further. Capture 6 high-quality Pokémon to participate in the Pokémon League, win the championship, and take the first step on the Master's path. Rewards: a Master Ball, a set of Charizard Evolution Stones worth 1 million poké dollars, and a random Pokémon map. (Note: System gifts and lottery prizes do not count.)"

That was his predicament—it was not easy to find high-quality Pokémon. Even with the system's special ability to see Pokémon qualifications, most of the creatures he encountered over the past two days were of medium quality, which didn't meet his needs.

The system categorized Pokémon into four tiers: low-quality, medium-quality, high-quality, and top-quality. Low-quality and medium-quality Pokémon hardly mattered—they were often old, weak, sick, or ordinary. High-quality Pokémon had the potential to become elites with hard work, while top-quality Pokémon were described as having the potential to become legendary. Though rare, the system recommended that he capture and train them diligently.

Filled with envy but powerless, he reflected on how most wild Pokémon seemed to be of low or medium quality. Although the Charmander and Eevee he possessed were both high quality, they were not top quality. The system also mentioned the existence of a Qualification Enhancement Potion and a Qualification Speed-up Potion, which could elevate a high-quality Pokémon to top quality, but these cost 100,000 diamonds.

Ronaldinho sighed, placing his hand in his pocket, "I'd better stop daydreaming and focus on completing my tasks to save up."

Popularity points had indeed become his main focus lately.

Many more points were coming in, along with an additional 1,000 points for completing the task, which finally pushed his total past 10,000. Ronaldinho quickly asked the system to produce the cheat device he needed most: double experience gain, allowing him to earn twice the experience after each battle.

This cheat was essential for becoming stronger in the future. There was nothing that couldn't be overcome with higher levels. Even if a few levels didn't seem significant, it would ultimately lead to crushing opponents that were ten or even dozens of levels lower.

Ronaldinho also recognized the importance of bond power at this moment. He wanted to evolve Eevee into Sylveon. In the game, Eevee's bond must reach two stars to evolve, but he is completely confused about how to achieve that in reality. Fortunately, the system provided him with a way to obtain bond power by completing 20 consecutive wins while he was asleep. This bond power could then be used to nurture Eevee and facilitate her evolution into Sylveon.

Moreover, Ronaldinho was also considering the bond evolution of Greninja. Gaining bond power would make it significantly easier for Greninja to evolve.

After observing his two Pokémon enjoying their food, Ronaldinho decided it was time to leave Viridian City and head to Pewter City. He figured that after Brock's departure, Brock's father would likely be just as strong.

First, he checked the current status of his two Pokémon and prepared for the upcoming gym competition.

Defeating the upcoming competitors might still be challenging, given that their levels weren't very high, and he didn't have any moves to counter their rock-type Pokémon. Ronaldinho stroked his chin and decided to spend some of his gold coins to buy a fishing rod in the mall. The prospect of acquiring a superior fishing rod was tantalizing.

- **Good Fishing Rod**: 50% chance of catching rare water Pokémon, 1% chance of catching high-quality Pokémon.

- **Super Fishing Rod**: 100% chance to catch rare water Pokémon, 10% chance to catch high-quality Pokémon.

Unfortunately, the super fishing rod cost 400 diamonds. With only 100 diamonds saved from completing tasks in the past two days, he was hesitant. However, he did have a Fire Stone tucked away in his backpack.

During his shopping at the mall, he noticed that ordinary items were quite cheap, but Pokémon-related items came with a hefty price tag. A large meal at a restaurant only costs 20 or 30 Pokémon coins, whereas a standard Pokéball is priced at 200 Poké dollars. After some consideration, he decided to sell the Fire Stone and top up his account to attempt to buy a super fishing rod, hoping to catch a high-quality Pokémon.

After his meal, Ronaldinho quickly sold the Fire Stone to the store in Viridian City, earning 300,000 Poké dollars. He recharged his account and, combined with the 100 diamonds he had saved, he now had enough for the super fishing rod. He couldn't help but feel it was fate.

Just after completing the recharge, the system's voice announced, "Congratulations to the host on recharging 300 diamonds! You've received your first recharge gift package. Please claim it immediately."

Ronaldinho felt as though he was playing a mobile game. He clicked to receive the package, and several items appeared before him: 10 Great Balls, a jar of honey, and a Pokémon egg. After reading the descriptions, he was amazed—this was an impressive gift from the system!

**Items Received**:

- **Sweet Honey (Concentrated Version)**: The sweetest honey, 100% capable of attracting the best bug-type Pokémon.

- **Pokémon Egg**: This is a top-grade quasi-god Pokémon egg, but it requires a significant amount of time to hatch, so care should be taken when doing so.
