Chapter 26: Viridian Forest - 5
(AN: I am convinced that either my luck is very bad, or I am somehow the victim of some sort of cosmic joke if today is anything to go by.)
----------------------------------------------------------
Yellow still found it hard to talk, and she was mostly silent and lost in thought. She sometimes cried silently and would reach out or look for someone after waking up. He always stayed by her side as she sometimes held him like a lifeline to something. He did not understand but felt he should not leave her at such times. Maybe she was reliving those moments when she was attacked. He did not ask. That would be insensitive.
It has been some days since they set camp near the stream in the forest. He was currently preparing a broth of Sitrus and Oran berries with some Razz berries for some spiciness. They were collected fresh from the berry trees they had planted near the camp. The soil in that spot was drying, so they had to water the berries regularly. He occasionally adds some canned vegetables, Tiny Mushrooms that grew in the forest, and rarely some boiled meat. They did use some of the ingredients for that.
After placing them in the dishes, he called out for his team, Doduo, and Yellow. Doduo had woken up properly the previous day but was still weak in the legs. As he was feeding Yellow and himself from the same bowl, he looked at his team of six and Doduo as they aggressively ate after their morning training session.
Looking at his sixth member, he remembered what had happened when he came to their camp and blushed a little. Yellow, looking in the direction he was looking, and sometimes seeing his eyes look towards her, blushed too, as she knew what he was thinking right now.
------------------------------------------------------------
(Flashback begins)
It happened on the day that Yellow woke up from her injuries. The second day of their stay in the forest.
He was trying to feed Yellow, but she was not opening her mouth, and her face was red. He even put a hand on her forehead to check for fever, but there was no problem with her temperature. She somehow became redder.
Completely forgetting about the fact that he had just undressed her moments ago to bathe her, changing and reapplying the salve he had made on her body parts, and bandaging it with Caterpie's help, he still tried to feed her.
Yellow was just sputtering during the entire process, and her laryngeal injury prevented her from speaking properly most of the time, and when she did, it was too low for Ash to hear. Her voice was getting better, though.
And Roshi? Roshi just sighed during the entire thing and reminded himself to somehow break Ash's denseness. Probably teach him about gender and social cues, too. For now, he was just enjoying the show with popcorn and 3d glasses as he looked at the TV in the living room in Ash's mind while lying on a couch with bandages. Shame that the mentally conjured soda wasn't as good as the real ones. A shame, indeed.
(In the background of the camp, a small creature was looking at the mons who were looking at the spectacle of the humans. He had escaped the facility near the big city, hid away from his pursuers, and travelled for days with no direction and destination for the sole purpose of escaping and running. Be free. He had eaten a lot less in the ensuing days after his escape, but the pursuers had nearly vanished altogether. There were still some of them, like the ones from a few days prior. He was hungry. He can steal the food if he is careful enough.)
Ash said to Yellow, "What happened? You should eat something. This is good for you."
As if to emphasize his point, her stomach growled. She was mortified at it.
(Preparing his plan of attack and escape plan, the small creature came out of the bushes, carefully trying not to make a sound, and silently started crossing the space. He never noticed Spearow and Pidgeotto perching on the branches of the tree he was underneath a few moments ago. Both of them looked at each other and smirked.)
Sighing at her, he thought about something and ate a spoonful of the broth. "See? It is not poisonous. You can eat it. Now try."
She was still refusing to eat it, so he took another spoon and checked for the taste and the smell. They were good enough. So, what was the problem?
(As the creature was reaching the food bowls, still somehow unseen by the Pokémon, he grew confident. Just a few steps more, and he would have food. After taking it, he would transform and escape as fast as he could. They would not be able to catch up after he transformed. He was the best at sneaking around!
He heard something land behind him. He turned behind him and came face to face with a Spearow and a Pidgeotto.
"Spear" "Pidge" ("Food!" "Boo!")
The creature screeched in surprise and ran.)
Just to show her, he took her face in his hand and turned it to him as he squatted down beside her.
He took the broth in his mouth again to show that it was safe, when he heard a screech behind him that distracted Yellow.
Something hit him in the back, and he fell forward with surprise with his mouth open a bit.
He landed on her face with their lips touching, and they landed on the ground with him atop her.
They remained in that state for a brief moment in shock, with the Pokémon acting up around them and forgetting about everything else.
'Her lips are soft.'
Yellow. Poor Yellow just fainted from being overwhelmed with emotions after eating the broth that was fed to her through mouth-to-mouth.
Ash was shaking in panic now.
Roshi cackled like a hyena and stated Drinking the coke.
Hearing the Pokémon, he turned to tell them to quiet down.
He saw an Eevee turn into a Flareon to attack his team, only to be paralyzed by his Pikachu tackling it down and using Thunder Wave.
He just stared.
Roshi choked on the cola and fell off the couch in sheer shock and disbelief. He then proceeded to be buried under the books.
(Flashback End)
-------------------------------------------------------------
After his team had ganged up on the poor fellow, he caught the Eevee. This one could change into a Flareon, a Vaporeon, and a Jolteon if the Pokedex and Roshi were to be believed. He was distrustful of him at first, but seeing that he was hungry, he gave some of his food to the Eevee. He dug into the food as if there was no tomorrow after confirming that it was not going to be taken from him.
Eevee always hurt himself when he transformed into any of his evolved forms.
Roshi told him that he should never talk about Eevee's special condition to anyone, even the professor. This Eevee must have been experimented upon and must have escaped from captivity. If word got out about this special Eevee, then all the Eevees would be experimented upon by the criminals, and there would be entire black markets around it.
After hearing about it, he paled in understanding and promised to never speak about it to anyone. He was not going to have Eevee change forms in the first place, as he would get hurt from doing so.
He just hoped that nobody got hurt trying to catch the guy.

(AN: Yeah, you get some fluff. The chapter was going to be larger, but my college just informed me that instead of a weekend holiday tomorrow, the college is going to be open. I must write my assignment now. Bye!)
