Pokemon: The Journey

Chapter 27: Viridian Forest - 6

(AN: How?! How is it possible that the same lift jerked and temporarily broke down on the same floor when I was on it?! For two days straight! I got nearly thrown out of a project, too, just because I was unable to progress it. How am I supposed to work when my main supervisor is literally in another country for nearly a month, and I am not allowed to use the delicate instruments without her being near me? Turned out that the supervisor did not go to another country. Instead of her, another professor had gone to that country, with my supervisor staying here the entire time!)

---------------------------------------------

While packing the bag, and the tent in order to start moving towards Pewter City and getting out of this forest, he thought about how his team's training went the past few days.

Chansey had been using the move Gravity a lot over the past days along with her healing moves on his team. Instead of having a dramatic increase in gravity over their bodies, he had her gradually increase the strength of the move so that they can get used to their increased weight over time as using the sudden jump in gravity will not be viable for the long run. The perpetrator might come anytime even if they had erased their tracks, but they had to be prepared for any kind of fight in the future.

All members of his team, including him were doing exercises and training under the Gravity's influence. Chansey's healing moves and the Oran and Sitrus berries' broth helped in building and repairing their stamina and muscles faster. They had physically improved themselves over the days. Roshi said they can move properly around under the influence of nearly 1.6 times the gravity. He was so sweaty that he had to remove his shirt and take occasional baths in the stream from time to time with his team. Why was Yellow's face red again?

Pidgeotto and Spearow had trouble flying in the increased gravity. It did not help that he tied ropes to their wings with stones tied to them essentially increasing their weight and pressure on their wings even more. Spearow had it harder to fly than Pidgeotto.

Needless to say, they got tired from flying quickly and became grounded as a result. Did it stop him from training them? He had them run on the ground with their legs while their wings rested to build up their stamina further and to train them to fight even if they were grounded. After lunch, they smacked their wings against the stones he threw at them individually while the other kept on hitting the trees with their wings to strengthen them. They learnt Steel Wing by the second day of their training, even if basic. They were now training to increase their speed and make consistent use of Steel Wing whenever it was required.

They also learnt and exchanged a few moves during their training. Spearow had learnt Assurance on his own, and basic Gust and Sand Attack from Pidgeotto while she learnt Peck and Whirlwind from him. Sand Attack was just taking dirt and throwing it at the opponent's eyes, go figure.

Pikachu, being the leader of the group just after him, gave his all to improve himself to have the respect of his team members. He trained continuously. He ran, jumped on his legs, climbed trees, hit them with his legs and his tail, lifted the stone tied to his tail, hit stones thrown at him, squats, push-ups, learnt Double Kick, a flickering but growing consistent Iron Tail. He hit the leaves for accuracy of his Thunder Shocks, even taught Caterpie how to use electricity to use the Electro Web, was trying to learn that now. He was slimmer, faster, better...

And got hit with a low power Water Gun to the back of his head and got drenched for all his efforts. Looking back slowly only to see the light of evolution on the Vaporeon to turn it back to the slapable smirking face of Eevee.

Oh, that smug piece of!

Pikachu and Eevee lunged at each other and started fighting with Iron Tails, Double Kicks, Swift, and Thunder Shocks and created a small dust cloud.

Spearow was cheering them on, and Yellow was trying to stop the fight and failing spectacularly given that she was only able to move somewhat, not able to walk properly till now, and her voice even if recovering should not be strained.

And Ash?

He was looking at the scene with apathetic and bored eyes. This has been going on for some days now. Looking at Chansey's paling face while looking at Spearow, he got all he needed to know what he was talking about.

Spearow must be shouting about blood and sacrifices all over again, wasn't he?

Sighing he was thinking about why this had happened.

--------------------------------------------

(Flashback begin)

Eevee at first did not want to train and was resting in the sidelines and staying away from both Ash and Yellow. She really looked hurt that Eevee just looked at her and turned his face away.

Pikachu was practicing the accuracy of his Thunder Shocks by targeting the leaves when one of the stones batted away by Spearow hit him. It was enough to distract him that he ended up hitting something else as a result.

Eevee.

Poor guy was just sleeping when he was electrocuted and woken up.

He was pissed at being woken up. He had just taken a bath too, so his fur stood up as well. Looking at Pikachu with rightful vengeance, he faltered a bit when entering the Gravity's field. He started to scold Pikachu for his attack.

Pikachu, like any reasonable person, was not able to take a puffed-up ball of fluff seriously and was holding in his laugh.

Eevee narrowed his eyes at that and left to start his own training.

Pikachu resumed his training of jumping on his legs as high as possible when he was hit with Swift out of nowhere and fell down with pain.

Shaking his head he looked at the obvious culprit who was grinning and jumping too to match him.

How Eevee was the obvious culprit? Well...

"Eevee, the Evolution Pokémon. A Normal type. Eevee is rarely found in the wild and is mostly only found in cities and towns. It is said to have an irregularly shaped genetic structure that is easily influenced by its environment. This allows it to adapt to a variety of habitats by evolving. Eevee can potentially evolve into three different Evolutions. Eevee can also start to adopt the face of the Trainer that owns it. Eevee's genes are believed to have the key to solving the mysteries of Pokémon Evolution.

This Eevee is male and has the ability Adaptability. His moves are Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, Quick Attack, and Swift."

After the first one, both of them formed a rivalry of sorts. They did the same training while somehow being able to sabotage each other. Their reflexes, and ability to dodge and take hits had improved as a result. Pikachu and Eevee used their attack repertoire against each other that they had improved the accuracy of their hits and learnt new moves.

Pikachu's look of glee when he found out that Double Kick really hurt Eevee only to be gob smacked when hit with a flickering Iron Tail to the face was priceless.

(Flashback End)

----------------------------------------------

At least there a silver lining in this situation. Their rivalry had lit a sort of competitive spirit among his Pokémon. Pikachu and Eevee also learnt new moves too.

Looking back at them, he saw Pikachu pulling a Half Nelson Choke on Eevee.

Sighing again, he looked at the only remaining member of his team and told them to break the fight.

Metapod used Electro Web, and String Shot on them to break the 'fight'.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, Metapod. His Caterpie had evolved not long ago. Caterpie had been biting at the wood trying to channel his energy at his mouth. When he not doing so, he was running on the forest floor under the effects of gravity increasing his stamina and shooting down leaves with String Shot to increase his accuracy. He ate a lot of leaves which led to him increasing in size than an average one.

After Caterpie had drunk a lot of water, he practiced using String Shot which led to a surprising discovery which he had Caterpie train on.

When String Shot's accuracy had been trained to satisfaction levels, Pikachu had started helping Caterpie using electricity. Pikachu had to use low voltage electricity on his tail and placed his tail on Caterpie's mouth to help him in gathering electricity. It took Caterpie a day of continuous non-stop effort to do so.

It took two days for him to combine that electricity with String Shot. It was not perfect, but it was a start. The electricity kept on frizzling out or burned the String Shot itself.

Suddenly Caterpie went still and gave out a cry.

Caterpie started covering his body in String Shot after that.

The whitish body started becoming light green and hardening to form a crescent shape of a cocoon.

Did Caterpie's body just fused with the shell, hence the green color?!

"Metapod, the Cocoon Pokémon. A Bug type. Metapod's soft body is protected by a hard outer shell as it undergoes metamorphosis. While this shell is said to be as hard as steel, a sudden, powerful impact could cause its liquid innards to pop out, leaving it completely exposed. Metapod generally remains motionless, rebuilding its cells for Evolution. If an enemy discovers Metapod, it cannot do anything other than harden its outer shell. Metapod lives in temperate forests and jungles, often in groups. It stays still while sleeping to avoid getting attacked by foes.

This Metapod is male, and his ability is Shed Skin. His moves are Tackle, String Shot, Bug Bite, and Harden. Notice: This Pokémon knows two moves that has never been seen. Report to the sponsor immediately for this development."

(AN: This is a Kanto dex.)

Wondering why that happened, he asked Metapod to use Electroweb. It was more stable than before. Guess having used water for String Shot actually paid off.

He had Metapod use Harden a lot of times before using String Shot to propel himself. Hey! He was not stupid enough to hurt Metapod during training and they will be attacked so he needed to prepare him for it.

Chaining the Harden and having Pikachu and Eevee explain about Iron Tail to him, his Harden was starting to become more powerful with a brief silver shine to his body. The improvement was basically in the sight, and not much in the physical department.

------------------------------------------------------

Returning to the present, he saw the 'fight' break up with Spearow looking crestfallen. Just how bloodthirsty is he?!

He just returned everyone back except Pikachu and Eevee. Turns out that they had developed such a bitter rivalry that Eevee would rather stay out and not miss anything at all. Pikachu just narrowed his eyes at that.

Taking his backpack, he scooped up Yellow in his arms after giving her Doduo's Poké ball as she still could not walk on her own. She felt lighter than before. Was she not eating properly? Why was her face red again?

Why was Roshi muttering about something 'dense' and 'bridal'?

Shaking his head to remove the thoughts, he started walking back to the place where he found Yellow with Pikachu and Eevee at the front.

When he asked the reason as to why she wanted to go there, she looked somber and a little desperate.

They could also retrace their steps back to the main path from there.

Shrugging, he started walking.

(AN: Sorry for the late update. I had written only half the chapter on Saturday and had to complete 2 one-week sudden assignments in under 24 hours yesterday. I do not want to talk about the near accidents I had yesterday as well.)
