"What's going on, Aggron? Hurry and press the advantage—use Iron Head!"
Seeing his Mega Aggron suddenly stop and adopt a lazy demeanor, Ranka felt a bad premonition rise in his chest. He immediately shouted at Aggron to continue the attack.
Unfortunately, under the influence of the Truant Ability, slothful emotions clouded Mega Aggron's mind. It had no desire to keep fighting—its fighting spirit had completely dulled.
Taking this chance, the Kecleon that had been hidden on Aggron's chest by Camouflage stuck out its long tongue toward Swampert. Once its tongue successfully latched onto Swampert's arm, it snapped back, yanking Kecleon through the air and back onto Swampert's body.
Even Swampert, known for its incredible physical endurance, was covered in wounds after engaging Mega Aggron in close combat. Several deep gashes marked its body—Aggron's steel claws and horns had left brutal damage. Blood continued to drip from torn wounds as Swampert panted from the exertion.
Thankfully, Swampert bore a mutated Supreme Blue Water Stone—an exceptionally rare treasure among Water-types—that granted a continuous Aqua Ring effect, slowly regenerating its injuries.
(Note: Aqua Ring is a Water-type status move. Effect: restores 1/18th of the Pokémon's HP at the end of every turn.)
This mutated Supreme Blue Water Stone had already developed a kind of symbiotic relationship with Swampert. During battle, it continuously supplied healing Water-type energy. Outside of battle, Swampert would channel natural Water-type energy back into it, further refining the crystal's quality.
While Aggron was affected by Truant, the Mutated Supreme Blue Water Stone's continuous release of healing energy washed over Swampert's injuries, soothing and mending them.
Soon, Swampert's torn flesh began to knit back together rapidly, and its previously fading vitality started to recover.
"Come back, Swampert. Heracross, Ursaring—you're up."
Sato had also noticed Aggron's abnormal state. A faint smile appeared on his face. He knew Kecleon had completed its mission—transferring the Truant Ability to Mega Aggron. The plan was more than halfway complete now; only a few steps remained.
"Damn it, what are you doing, Aggron? The enemy's approaching—attack, now!"
Still unaware that Aggron's Ability had been changed, Ranka was fuming. He'd just watched Swampert stroll off the battlefield unhindered, only to be replaced by Ursaring and Heracross. Furious, he shouted at Mega Aggron from above.
Opportunities in battle disappeared in a blink. If Aggron had just followed up, Swampert would've been finished. Now it had escaped. Watching a cooked duck fly away left Ranka fuming.
What worried him most was Aggron's current state. If this happened again, the tide of battle could turn against him.
And he wasn't blind—he'd seen that Sato's Bellossom had healing capabilities. If Swampert fully recovered and rejoined the fight, especially with support from the other Pokémon, there was no guarantee even his Mega Aggron could win.
Yes, Swampert had been seriously injured by Aggron, but Aggron wasn't in great shape either. Its powerful physical defense was impressive, but Swampert's Ice Hammer and Raging Earth combos weren't purely physical attacks.
Especially Raging Earth, a special combo move—Mega Aggron's Special Defense wasn't nearly as strong as its physical defense. It had taken substantial damage, and now the steel armor on its body was riddled with fine cracks. Its defensive power had dropped significantly.
"ROAR!!!"
Responding to Ranka's angry outburst, Mega Aggron—finally free from the effects of Truant—let out a furious roar. With rage flaring in its eyes, it launched a heavy Iron Tail straight at the approaching Ursaring.
After Mega Evolution, Aggron's body size had nearly doubled. It now stood close to seven meters tall, its body encased in thick steel plating. It looked like a towering steel tyrant. The over-three-meter-tall Ursaring looked like a child standing before a giant.
In truth, only Swampert—with its raw power—could face Mega Aggron head-on. Any other Pokémon would be crushed by sheer size and weight alone.
But Ursaring was ready. During the healing provided by Bellossom's Grassy Terrain, it hadn't just stood idly—it had used Belly Drum under Sato's command, maximizing its Attack stat.
"ROAR!!!"
Faced with the oncoming Iron Tail, which swept across the air with terrifying momentum, Ursaring's muscles bulged as it let out a roar of its own. It met the attack head-on with a powerful Hammer Arm.
The next moment, Aggron's Iron Tail collided with Ursaring's Hammer Arm.
BOOM!!!
A deafening crash echoed through the battlefield. The ground beneath their feet cracked and split, sinking slightly under the force of the impact.
Immediately after, two deep fist marks appeared on the steel tail of Mega Aggron. Ursaring, with a roar of pain, was sent flying by the sheer force and collapsed unconscious upon landing. Its arms hung limply, bent at unnatural angles.
Although Ursaring had been knocked out with one Iron Tail, it had clearly inflicted real damage on Mega Aggron. The twin fist dents on its tail throbbed, sending waves of pain through Aggron's body.
And more importantly, Ursaring's brave frontal clash had bought the perfect opening for its teammate. Up in the air, Heracross had completed its charge-up for Focus Punch.
"HEERRAAA!!"
With a fearsome roar, Heracross—bursting with intense Fighting-type energy—descended from the sky. Enraged by its fallen comrade, it drove its right fist, cloaked in explosive power, straight into Mega Aggron's head.
BOOM!!!
The impact rang out like a thunderclap. Caught completely off guard, Mega Aggron's massive head was smashed into the ground with full force. The earth around them trembled from the strike.
A moment later, a faint cracking noise could be heard—
The steel helmet encasing Aggron's head now bore a deep fist-shaped dent. A hairline crack appeared at the edge of the dent, then quickly began spreading outward.
