Pretending to Be an Untouchable Crime Boss

Chapter 231: Lowlife.

First what James thought as he was staring at the gun was, fuck what is this?

His second thought was that he needed to remain calm and chill, kind of nonchalant like how he began with, and after all that he experienced and happened, that wasn't a big thing for him. He was nonchalant without him even noticing it or acting on it. He really changed and that change was his main power… and of course that he ruled over the country's whole market.

It caught his ear and his attention because it was strange. The Braccachi family, he never heard the name of them, and if there would be that strong and influential, Hector would hundred percent sure have said it to him. But he heard not even a word from him nor even from everyone else in the family.

So first, before he did anything, which consisted of four things, talk out of it, second, shout Mike's name, and third, kill both of them… but he chose the fourth option, to talk it out, because, well, he was interested in what these two fuckers were bragging about and who they were.

"Oh, I didn't know that." He said as he put his hand up. "I thought it was that Silas guy… but I don't know if y'all heard the news today." He said, and well, it was a little attack in his voice and the meaning of his sentence, and he wanted to see how they reacted to it, because if they really are big players, they would be scared and concerned about this whole thing happening outside and the national emergency.

But they didn't seem like ones that were scared about it.

"Silas?" Niam asked back as he turned his head toward Eva then back to James. "That old fucker? We didn't know him but at least he died before us cutting his throat." He said with a smile, and that was the exact moment James knew that these two fuckers in front of him, pointing a gun at him, knew not even a single thing about the underworld, not about the drug market or any of its players.

This too was bragging about something that wasn't even fucking true, they had no fucking idea what was the drug market… nor any fucking idea that he is the one that's controlling all of it, that the guy is him, sitting in front of them.

James almost chuckled once again as he held up his hand, because then what the fuck are they talking about controlling? They bought a kilo of drugs and thought they were drug lords or what?

It didn't make any sense, not just what they were talking about and saying but their whole demeanor. They were fucking shaking holding the guns, their breath heavy and sweating, and their eyes wide open, while he himself chilling, his hand up. That too, he looked at their hands, nothing on them, their hands were immaculate, not a scar, nothing, just like their faces.

Second, there isn't even one gangster in the country who is bigger that didn't know about Silas. The man who ruled for decades, every single fucking drug dealer, trafficker, smuggler, everybody knew about him.

But them? Not even a fucking single clue, so came James's second question because he knew one thing, they are not fucking going to shoot, and well, he even doubted that the pistol had a round in the chamber. And still… their finger was on the trigger while the safety was still on…

"What about Marco or Isabelle?" He asked again, for one single thing, to see them, if they even heard about their name. And well, now at the moment everybody knew their name because it was said out loud. But he wanted to see if they said something otherwise.

Well, they said.

"Why the fuck are you asking fucking names?" Eva asked as she pointed the gun closer to James. Her expression was still that fragile one, the girl who wanted to look strong but was just a doll.

"Because they died too, and they were players in the market… and you two know nothing about them, not even Silas." James said as he put down his hand. "Who the fuck are you two?" He asked, and well, his expression changed again, looking at them in the same nonchalant way, but his eyes were now more distant and he crossed his legs.

The doctor immediately noticed that he was still in his comfort zone but also just signaled that he was a threat, because his hand was at his waist, and for a fact, she knew there were two pistols with James. Both can shoot… but one is lethal.

On the other hand, James knew that they had to be someone, maybe lowlife gangsters or a businessman's children. So he just asked the obvious question and he thought they would answer it straight, but no, they didn't.

"I said it once, we are ruling over the drug market!" Niam shouted again as he aimed at James, but his shout was a little too loud, especially when the wall wasn't that thick and the door was slightly opened.

Yeah, Mike heard it. It was a faint shouting, but he heard the most important words, drug market and he knew for a fact that it wasn't James, nor would he say it out loud in front of strangers, especially right now when everybody is looking for gangsters, when the whole nation was witch-hunting, and if a bystander hears it and takes a picture of him or something, it's game over. Their camouflage is fucked.

So with that, he stood up and went to the counter because he knew he couldn't rush in with guns out.

"Can I go in too?" He asked as he looked at the girl with a smile.

"Yeah, you can. It's actually for four people, our walk-in session, so please sign the document and you can go." She smiled, not even knowing that the gun was already off the safety in his waist, one round in the chamber ready to serve death.

"Perfect." He said and quickly wrote some dumb address, and with that he was going straight up. His steps were deliberate, and he knew he didn't need to act in a way that he is really a gangster.

Even if something happened in the room, he needed to stay calm and go with James… and well, when he arrived up the stairs and peeked into the open door, what he saw was not something he was chill about. More like two guns pointed at James… but on the other hand, James was calm as fuck with a faint smirk on his face.

He was under control of it or at least it seemed like that and he noticed too, peeking in, that the safety was on, but their fingers were on the trigger… moreover, he actually knew them… they were not a threat but more like fucking games that were ready to be hunted down. Still, James was his boss, so he needed to step in… but he decided not to, because James spoke.

"Which drug market?" He asked the question again, looking at Niam with the same eyes.

"West side of the capital." He said in a voice that radiated how proud he was, and he said it in a way that was meant to cause panic in James or something, like it was a threat itself.

But the thing is, the whole capital was under James's control, and there was no one fucking person who was controlling the west side, there were only low-life street dealers.

"It's funny, earlier you said the whole nation." He chuckled as he looked at the doctor. "He said it, you heard it too, ma'am, didn't you?" He asked her, to which she just eyed him and said nothing back.

"Our father's name is Veluca Nirjam, and our mother is Firia Braccachi… you know them, don't you?" Eva asked again, laughing in a manic voice like she just used the ace card. And well, she did.

Oh my fucking god… James thought, and he almost again started laughing his ass off but contained himself, though it was hard as fuck.

He didn't exactly know who they were, but one thing he had heard was that a low-life gangster put on his wife's name because it sounded better and gave off more of a gangster and mafia-like vibe… Braccachi… that was that fucker, and they were his children.

They were not even a name that should be said, like they were dealing pills, party pills for fucking teengers, and they got their asses whooped by a motorcycle gang… for sure, in the west side they had power or some sort, but otherwise not… like a laughable family with laughable influence.

"My god…" He looked at the doctor again, while Niam and Eva smiled like they finally got what they deserved. "Are you scared of these cockroaches?" He asked straight away, and all of their mouths dropped.

He looked back at them, and now in a magical way, Niam found the safety off. Who knows, maybe it was an accident as the gun shook in his hand and he actually did it… he pulled the trigger.

The sound was beautiful… the loud and satisfying click.
