Chapter 161: Reporting To His Master
Peng Ting did not want to cause a needless fight, especially, a fight in which he would lose horribly. The other party was not only stronger than him, but their status was also above his.
"Tch. Just when I found out who spoke, he got scared off." Hervy sighed and shook his head. "Sometimes, I forget how mighty I am."
Peng Ting trembled. 'This bastard. He's using his master's status to bully the weak. Despicable!'
"Pffft."
Lily giggled as she looked back and forth between Hervy acting tough and the fuming butler.
[Hey! Your name is Peng Ting, right?]
[What parents name their child beautiful?]
[Then why do you look like an orangutan?]
After a few more words of ridicule using Voice Transmission, Hervy snorted as he realized Peng Ting had already shut off his senses except for his vision.
"Let's go." Then, Hervy snorted once again and joined the queue, followed by the others.
With a curious gaze directed at Hervy, James asked, [Just now, why did you use Voice Transmission to ridicule him?]
Though the question seemed irrelevant, Hervy frowned upon hearing it. He realized he made a mistake just then. Previously, he said he had never been to Dragon Phoenix Auction House, which was a lie. Back when he lived with his family, he spent countless Mana Stones at the weekly auctions.
With a straight face and not missing a second, Hervy replied, [Anyone with a bit of worldly experience knows not to be disrespectful here.]
James looked at him for a few seconds, smilingly. However, his smile had a bit of interest and curiosity. It seemed there was more to the rude and obnoxious brat than he let on.
After that brief conversation, none of them spoke as they waited for their turn to enter the auction.

Meanwhile, back within a tent in Moon Grove Forest, a black-haired middle-aged man was sitting cross-legged, with his eyes closed, absorbing Mana when suddenly he heard a faint buzz from his Spatial Ring.
Opening his eyes, the middle-aged man, who was none other than Wang Ming, frowned and looked inside his Spatial Ring.
*Bzzz*
'Hmmm. Number Zero's Long Distance Communication Device?' When Wang Ming saw the Artfiact that was producing the buzz, his frown was replaced with a smile.
This device was only used for urgent communications, and if Number Zero was contacting him, it meant there were important developments to report.
Experience tales with empire
Wang Ming had already been informed of Wang Chen's funeral and the change in plans, from the initial plan of making it seem like Wang Chen suicided to his assassination at the hands of greedy guards. The plan had been concocted by his most trusted right-hand man, Number Zero.
Using his Mana, Wang Ming checked his surroundings and activated the Runic Formation embedded in his tent to prevent spying.
After doing so, he channeled his Mana into an Astral Eye Crystal. A moment later, a hologram appeared above the glowing crystal, showing a black-robed figure kneeling on the hard stone ground.
"Master, the funeral concluded." The black-robed man announced as soon as the Astral Eye Crystal before him projected Wang Ming's figure.
"Have their minds swayed?" Wang Ming asked.
"A few people are still suspicious regarding the death of Wang Chen, but the situation is more in our favor. With time, they will forget." The black-robed man announced as soon as the Astral Eye Crystal before him projected Wang Ming's figure.
"It's only natural for there to be a few of them. But I don't mind." Wang Ming had already expected he could not convince everyone. It was the nature of all to be suspicious, especially since everyone knew Wang Chen was a useless waste.
"Did you encounter any problems?" Wang Ming asked after a while.
Hearing this, for the first time since the conversation began, the black-robed man lifted his head, revealing a back mask with the number zero in white.
That was right, Number One was actually Number Zero. Having an alter ego made it easier to move around in the light. When the time came, he could always ditch being Number One.
Number Zero's existence was only known to his Master, Wang Ming.
After a thought, Number Zero sighed, "Your humble servant came across two problems."
"Oh?" Wang Ming furrowed his brows. He was confused about what could possibly create problems for Number Zero.
"Was it that bastard Cai Jinbao?"
Other than Cao Jinbao, the others who could trouble Number Zero were in the Moon Grove Forest.
However, Number Zero shook his head.
"Master, this is what happened -" Number Zero then began explaining to him the events that took place before the funeral took place to the moment it ended. He even added information he later learned from the mouths of the guards and maids, who learned from the audience.
As Number Zero explained Wang Ming's expression fell after each sentence he uttered.
"James Orchard…that greedy merchant. He actually left Moon Grove Forest. At this precarious time… doesn't he know the Secret Realm could open at any time? When? Why wasn't I informed? And why the Hell does he keep going to Harmony City?"
"But the biggest troublemaker is that vendor…" Wang Ming furrowed his brows as he recalled what Number Zero told him in regard to the young man.
'Popcorn that can help Mages increase their Mana? Is there such a wondrous thing in our world? If it does exist, why is he a simple food vendor?'
With a frown, Wang Ming asked, "What does he look like?"
Instead of replying, Number Zero retrieved a picture from his Spatial Ring.
The picture dsplayed a young man, no older than eighteen, with messy white hair framing a handsome face. A lean but athletic build, and his blue eyes emitted a cold indifference that did not match his youthful appearance.
As soon as Wang Ming saw the appearance of the young man, his expression became weird.
Number Zero was confused by the unnatural expression made by his Master, but he remained silent and simply observed.
"Haah." Wang Ming sighed and rubbed his temples. "I should have known after you said the vendor belonged to the same groups as James."
"Master, can you please satisfy this humble servant's curiosity?" Number Zero said simply, unable to contain his curiosity any longer.
Wang Ming stopped rubbing his temple and gazed in a certain direction. It was precisely in the direction of the restaurant called 'Transcendence'.
"That young vendor… is the restaurant owner and chef of Transcendence. He also has a surprisingly close relationship with James Orchard. I wouldn't be surprised if he was part of the Orchard Family or a subordinate raised by James to make him extra Mana Stones." Wang Ming explained everything his spies had told him.
Number Zero frowned behind his mask.
'Such little information? What are those useless spies being paid if they can't even uncover his name?'
With that in mind, a flicker of killing intent flashed in his eyes.
'If they can't even do their jobs right, there is no need for such trash to continue living.'
"Have they left Harmony City?" Wang Ming asked, ignoring Number Zero's killing intent.
Number Zero instantly replied, "They haven't. Ever since I learned of the effects of the popcorn, I tasked a few of our spies in Harmony City to monitor them from afar. Currently, they are in queue to enter Dragon Phoenix Auction House."
Wang Ming snorted, "That greedy merchant is always looking for any way to earn more Mana Stones."
Wang Ming continued as a smile graced his face, "And for him to be that relaxed, to the point he left Moon Grove Forest, attended that useless waste's funeral, and now, he's about to participate in an auction, he must know something about the Secret Realm that we don't know."
Number Zero nodded his head in agreement, "This humble servant agrees with Master's assessment. James Orchard is not one to take risks without a guaranteed reward."
Wang Ming nodded. He had dealt with James plenty of times now, to know not to underestimate him.
"Master, what about the vendor?" Number Zero tentatively asked after a while.
Though he did not elaborate further, Wang Ming understood what he meant. Lucian was an entity that could not be overlooked.
"If this vendor possesses an ability that can help others besides just Mana Condensation Realm Mages, he could be a powerful ally or a dangerous threat." Wang Ming muttered aloud.
A dangerous gleam flashed in Number Zero's eyes as he absorbed his Master's words.
Wang Ming continued, "How strong is the vendor?"
Number Zero frowned and replied uncertainly, "This humble servant cannot say for certain. When I attempted to gauge his strength using Mana Sense, I was unable to feel or sense his presence. Only when I deactivated Mana Sense could I see his appearance again."
Wang Ming's eyes narrowed. 'Is his Mage Rank concealed by an Artifact? Or is he stronger than a Mana Soul Realm Mage?'
