Chapter 160: Save Lily's Mother
If they could acquire the ingredient today, it would help them tremendously.
[No.] James shook his head. [But you can find out from the Auction Catalog.]
[But I doubt today's auction would have Grade 7 material.] James added.
Fenwick, Lily, and Garrett became deflated as they let out sighs of disappointment.
[Magical Beast blood with healing properties?] Lucian repeated. [Why would Fenwick want that?]
[Not only that, Host. Did you notice Garrett's hopeful gaze directed at James when Fenwick spoke? Also, the disappointment after hearing the Auction might not have the blood?]
[Yes.] Lucian responded as he glanced at Fenwick, Garrett, and Lily, who was beside him.
Although he could not see her expression, he heard a disappointed sigh from her, as well.
Lucian knew Fenwick had a close relationship with Lily and Garrett, so he became curious as to why he wanted Magical Beast blood, especially blood that had healing properties.
[Whoever they want to help must be in serious condition. But why are they looking for Magical Beast blood rather than going to a Mage with Healing Skills?]
[The System finds the situation equally strange.] The System remarked before suggesting, [ Why not ask Lily directly instead of making baseless guesses?]
[Alright.] Lucian agreed, and then he turned to Lily. [Lily, is there a specific reason why you need Magical Beast blood with Healing properties?]
Lily trembled, and her footsteps briefly stopped before she resumed walking.
Although her mask and robe hid her trembling body, the minute pause in her footsteps did not escape Lucian's eyes, causing him to furrow his brows.
[Even though I don't have the blood you're looking for, I might be able to help in a different way if I know the reason why you need it.] Lucian continued in a gentle tone.
'Can Lily really say the reason?' Lily's beautiful pink eyes flashed with a complicated light.
'Big Brother Lucian has told Lily so many of his secrets.'
'He trusts Lily, so Lily should trust him!'
After a few moments of hesitation, the complicated light in Lily's eyes was replaced with tears as thoughts of her mother overwhelmed her.
[It's for my mother… Her.. Her Mana Veins were crippled, and she… she's in a critical condition. The Mana Veins Restoration Potion is our only hope.] Lily cried.
Hearing Lily's choked sobs and the reason why they were looking for the Magical Beast blood, Lucian felt complicated as he reached out and patted her shoulder.
[I'm sorry to hear that about your mother. I promise I'll do everything I can to help.] Lucian sighed afterward.
Healing damaged Mana Veins or restoring them required at least Immortal Rank Skills. In the Mortal Plane, Immortal Skills were as rare as Phoenix feathers. That did not mean Immortal Skills did not exist in the Mortal Plane, they did, but the possibility of acquiring even one required luck and talent. Even if a Mage acquired it, learning the Skill was even harder.
As the fusion of a Dao Immortal and Ancestral God, Lucian had plenty of Healing Skills stored away in his memories. However, he could not utilize them since he did not possess any Elements that aligned with the Skills.
However, that did not mean he could not teach the Skill to someone else. Once they learned it, Lily's mother would be healed.
The only issue with that was, the person he taught had to be trustworthy and talented.
He did not want to teach an ungrateful, scum, who would run away and divulge he had Immortal Rank Skills to the public.
[Thank you… Big Brother Lucian.] Lily said through choked sobs. [It means a lot to Lily. We have been searching for a method to help our mother for many years now… but… Lily just wants to see our mother healthy again.]
[We tried to look for other methods, but nothing worked. This potion is our last hope.]
[Even worse, we're running out of time. If we don't find all of the ingredients and commission an Alchemist to make the potion… then…]
Lucian's heart clenched hearing this.
Now that Lucian had access to Mana, he had many methods he could use to restore Mana Veins.
Preferably, if he could get his hands on the ingredients, he would rather not use those methods.
Suddenly, as Lucian was about to respond to Lily, several System Notifications appeared in his mind.
<{Quest: Save Lily's mother}>
<{Description: Lily's mother is in a critical condition, suffering from plundered Mana Veins, a shattered Mana Core, and a Soul tainted by Abyssal Element. The Mana Veins Restoration Potion will not be enough to restore her to full health.
Time is running out — she has only three weeks before her rapidly deteriorating Soul shatters, leading to her death and preventing any possibility of reincarnation. Immediate action is required to save her life.}>
<{Requires Grade 7 Phoenix Rebirth Tea recipe.}>
<{Description: Restores Mana Veins, repairs shattered Mana Core, and cleanses the Soul.}>
<{The Grade 7 Phoenix Rebirth Tea recipe can be acquired once a suitable Quest has been found.}>
[There goes my plan of using my blood to enslave a Light Element Mage.] Lucian joked, but his tone turned solemn the next second, 'Lily's mother's Soul is infected by Abyssal Element? First Garrett, now her. Or… was the Abyssal Curse passed down from his mother to him?'
With that in mind, another possibility occurred to Lucian, 'Does that mean Lily is also infected by the Abyss? If that's the case, I need to act fast.'
After a few minutes of walking, when they finally arrived at the Dragon Phoenix Auction House everyone except for James, Fenwick, and Garrett was shocked by the two, fifty feet tall statues on either end of the building. Your next chapter is on empire
One was a ferocious Fire Dragon spewing red flames at the sky in defiance, as if it wanted to burn the world down, while the other was a beautiful and elegant Phoenix surrounded by roses made of fire.
Both statues looked life-like, surprising even Lucian.
"Wow, she's so pretty." Lily pointed at the Phoenix and yelled with sparkling eyes.
"Forget about the statues, look at the line." Hervy pointed at the long line outside of the entrance with a shocked face.
Hearing that, they followed the direction of his finger and saw over a hundred people waiting in queue.
"I didn't expect there to be so many after today's event." Garrett raised his brow, surprised by the queue. Of course, he had participated at the Harmony CIty's Dragon Phoenix Auction House before and knew of the long lines. However, he did not expect the queue to be just as long today.
"Is it normal for Mages to attend auctions after visiting a funeral?" Lucian joked. He was still in a good mood after the comedy movie the Wang Family had shown.
To the side, James looked smilingly at him, [Haha, Senior sure knows how to joke. As I previously said, Dragon Phoenix Auction House is the number one Auction House on Arcadia owned by a rumored Mana God Realm Mage. The wares they auction can even attract those on their deathbed]
[Is the owner really a Mana God Realm Mage?] Lily asked as her eyes never left the beautiful Phoenix statue.
In response, James continued to smile as he replied, [As for the truth of the matter, I'm as clueless as you are, since I couldn't find any information even with my identity as an Orchard.]
[What? Even the Orchard Family doesn't have information on the owner of the Dragon Phoenix Auction House?] Hervy asked in a shocked tone. To most people on Arcadia, the Orchard Family was a towering giant. Therefore, it was quite shocking to hear James' words.
[When did I say that?] James shook his head and this time his smile turned into a bitter smile, [The Orchard Family probably has such information, but I'm not qualified to ask for it.]
Just when Hervy was about to ask what he meant by that, a grating voice came from nearby, "Tch, a bunch of country bumpkins."
"Hmm. Which rat bastard dared call this Young Master a country bumpkin?" Hervy snorted and stuck a finger in his ears as he looked around for the source of the voice. "Show yourself."
When the owner of the grating voice, Peng Ting, heard his despicable words he opened his mouth to curse only to feel like throwing up a mouthful of blood after seeing him looking around.
As a Mage, even the weakest Mana Condensation Realm Mage would know who spoke. It was obvious he was merely pretending.
However, Peng Ting did not ridicule them any further as he sent a furtive glance at James, wondering who he was. Out of their group, he was the only one who made him anxious since the man was given an invitation that allowed him to sit the closest to the Wang Family during the funeral.
'Whoever, he is, he is not someone I can afford offending.'
With that in mind, Peng Ting turned away and lined up to enter the auction.
