Progenitor Vampire: I Have Many Skills!

Chapter 535 Lord of the Kingdom

535  Lord of the Kingdom

Paul Cox and Matthew stared at this and talked about different things, trying to find the perfect way to compress the magic inside the gun without affecting the weapon.

They both came to a consensus around this: They needed to find a way to create a small bullet just as the magic was being created. Basically, they needed to make it so that, instead of compressed bullets, there would be some sort of highly resistant material that could compress them at the right moment, just before firing.

That would avoid the cost of producing the bullet since it was not always going to compress the magic but would only do so for a moment. So it was cheaper and wasn't really hard to make. However, the issue was that they needed to add several mechanisms to the inside of the weapon, so the size might go up.

Still, the design they needed was tricky to come up with, but they both set to work on it. At one point, Isla and Emma joined them, though Isla had to return to the academy soon after, and Emma was tasked with running the territory, so she must have been pretty busy these days.

While they were so busy, each doing their own thing, the world was in an angry euphoria because of how fast the Allen Clan and Gray Allen were expanding within the Dark Kingdom. At the same time, the growth of the vampiric prosperity religion was booming, so Gray Allen made the decision to strike directly at the kingdom's leaders.

Ministers, governors, and great personalities of the Kingdom suddenly changed, but the King was left in place, as Gray did not have someone better for the job.

In addition, the fact that the King had an advisor who Matthew approved of in some ways created good airs around him, so Gray allowed him to continue to command despite disobeying orders, although his power had been greatly reduced. The power of the Royal Family did not even match the power of the Academic Families that were under Gray's command.

Because of the good relationship formed between the Adams Family and the Allens, several Adams were sent to fill certain important positions in the kingdom after so many ministers and governors were expelled or directly killed for treason.

The purge Gray was carrying out was unprecedented in history. There were complaints from different Vampire Clans, but he ignored them. What he had to pay attention to were the complaints coming from the Central City of the World. However, he ignored them shortly after.

All that happened while Matthew was busy coming up with a new design for his weapons, training his girls, and helping Ava with some things. It wasn't until a message came to him that he came out into the public eye once again.

A month had passed since then.

Being an announcement made by Clan Allen without notifying him, it was naturally made by Gray: For the great deeds in defense of the race that Matthew Dietrich had done, he would be given an important political position in the dark kingdom.

The news spread ridiculously fast because it was a higher political office than a King's. It is a political office that had not been given since the Dark Heir of the Allens: A Lord of the Kingdom.

With this office, he is above the King and all political offices of the kingdom in which it was bestowed. Moreover, in the public eye of the rest of the countries, he is another king who has an independent voice and votes on every issue to be discussed in all political meetings between kingdoms.

The great thing about this office is that it practically exempts its bearer from all the responsibilities that a King has. He may attend meetings or not, at his discretion. He can perfectly well slack off all day, and no one will say anything because he is the authentic Lord of the Kingdom.

One of its peculiarities, and the reason it is never awarded, is that this political office cannot be revoked until its current bearer dies. Therefore, once Matthew is awarded this office, not even the Vampiric Clans can revoke it.

Now, this type of political office cannot be achieved without the presence of at least 3 Vampire Clans. That is why there are usually no alliances of 3 Clans at a time because it would grant too much power to the most influential Clan.

So, who is the third Clan involved here? Allen and Murphy, by their accounts, could not grant that position, but if Allen revealed that someone would be awarded that position, then it means they have the backing of one more Clan.

Who is it?

For now, no one knows, and it will be revealed at the moment of consecration.

The same will happen with the Territories of the Heirs who supported this because the signatures of three Clans and the Territories of the two Heirs of each Clan are needed. They could perhaps confirm the territories of Allen and Murphy, but one Clan remained.

But, it was because of this that Matthew had to come out of his confinement and once again look at the starlight and moonlight, because there was no sun.

He traveled to the capital in haste, the place where he would be awarded and prepared beforehand with the help of Alice, Isla, Emma, Ava and a few other girls, plus others sent by Gray Allen.

"Matt, did you know that my father was going to give you a position like this?" Alice asked, as she arranged the clothes and other things Matthew needed to bring.

"I suspected it, he knows I need this kind of position for some things I want to do, so he was working hard for it. What I didn't expect was that it would be so fast."

"I see. I didn't expect it, but the quickness I think I can understand."

"True, the Allen Clan has a big presence here, Matt. Though they seem harmless at times, I've always said they control the kingdom without us knowing it." Emma said, smiling a little.

Her way of addressing Matthew made Isla and Alice look at each other, surprised. Emma's way of speaking had changed drastically, she didn't seem to speak so respectfully anymore, she spoke more friendly and how she looked at Matthew made them realize what was going on here.

'Amazing, two months can change a lot of things.' They both thought, but smiled. They weren't upset, on the contrary, they were happy about it, although Isla already suspected something about it from before.

A while later, Matthew was ready to leave, but still did not.

As he was about to do so, he felt a strange presence nearby.

It was powerful and recognizable.

'Charlotte?' He thought. His gaze was focused on a wall, but he was looking beyond.

At the top of a private tower that stood nearby, looking towards the place where the award ceremony would take place.

'Mia Holmer too.' He thought, after realizing that she wasn't walking alone.

"Matt?" Alice's voice suddenly called out, snapping him out of his stupor. She didn't notice anything.

Isla was the one who did notice something. "Matt... Is she...?" she asked shocked, as she looked in the same direction as him.

Matthew smiled towards Alice and stroked her head, before looking at Isla.

"Would you like to say hello to her? She told me she wanted to see you."

Isla was stunned and frowned. "Is that her?" she asked. A strange rivalry crossed her eyes.

Matthew smiled. "Come with me and you'll find out." After saying this, he looked at the rest of the girls.

"Isla and I are going to go say hello to an acquaintance. You guys go back first and get everything ready, we'll be there in a moment." He spoke.

Without waiting for answers, he grabbed Isla by the waist and disappeared.
