Quiz Game system: starting from Marvel Universe

Chapter 644: An Interesting Plot Development

Tony Stark's face darkened after watching the feud between the Vulture and Stark Industries.

Pepper gently held his hand and said, "The government cooperation project... it was negotiated between you and Fury, and it's very similar to the disaster response department shown in the video. Tony, are you feeling a bit guilty?"

Due to the interference of the Quiz game, the timeline of the Marvel world had already begun to shift.

Having seen his future, Tony naturally made numerous changes—not to mention improvements to his armor and joining the Multiverse Defenders. Within the Avengers, he spearheaded multiple in-depth collaboration projects with Nick Fury and the federal government. These included establishing charity foundations, providing special funds for innocent civilians affected by supernatural incidents, and compensating for their losses. There was even a disaster response department, much like the one in the video, responsible for cleaning up the aftermath of battles between the Avengers and hostile supernatural forces.

"No, I mean... I've already done what I'm supposed to do…"

Hearing Pepper's words, Tony instinctively retorted with his usual arrogance. Yet, under the gentle and understanding gaze of his girlfriend, he eventually surrendered, letting out a deep sigh as a trace of dejection crossed his face. "Alright, Pepper, you're right. I screwed up again. But I really wanted to help them!"

"Of course, of course! I believe you, Tony."

Pepper embraced her disheartened lover and softly said, "I'm not blaming you—how could I? Listen, Tony, you handed over the company and these projects to me, but I couldn't manage them well either.

This isn't your fault. That's just how society works. Even with the best intentions, throwing money at problems doesn't solve everything!

Every project requires a lot of manpower to oversee, and even with strict regulations in place, you still can't stop those who are greedy or foolish. They're like parasites, exploiting our kindness and sometimes turning good deeds into bad ones."

As the CEO of a major company, Pepper understood the complexities of project management all too well.

Take charity funds, for example. While their original intent is to alleviate poverty, they often end up being used as tax shelters for the wealthy or as a "legal" way to facilitate exchanges of interests between business and government.

These so-called charity funds are like a delicious cake—lawyers, bankers, politicians, and businessmen all pounce on it, greedily devouring their share.

Meanwhile, the poor, who should be the true beneficiaries of these funds, only get a small bit of frosting or, in some cases, even candle wax. And even that could be considered lucky.

Stark Industries' projects with the government were no exception. As long as money was involved, it was like throwing down a piece of rotten meat—flocks of vultures and scavengers would rush in, both openly and in the shadows.

At that moment, Tony Stark felt a bit lost. Ever since becoming Iron Man—especially after gaining recognition and rewards from the Quiz game—his confidence had been steadily growing. He believed there was nothing he couldn't accomplish.

Even a formidable enemy like Thanos, who could destroy half the universe, was ultimately defeated by him.

But now, Tony realized that while he could defeat Thanos, he couldn't solve the seemingly small issue right in front of him.

"Why is it so hard to do something good?"

He didn't even know who the "enemy" was. Was it those high-ranking congressmen?

Or the seemingly diligent government officials?

Or perhaps the lawyers in their sharp suits?

Any one of these individuals could be easily handled by Iron Man with just a flick of his finger. But when they formed a complex social network and interest group, Tony Stark found himself like a bird caught in a net—powerless and trapped.

Pepper knew how sensitive and kind her lover was. His emotions could easily be swayed, so she continued to comfort him gently.

No matter how difficult, someone had to take on these tasks. By learning from the lessons revealed in the future, they could slowly correct the system and do their best to make things right.

Tony Stark hugged Pepper back, resting his chin on her shoulder. The confusion in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by a renewed determination.

He said firmly, "If the problem lies with the people managing the system, then I'll replace them all—with artificial intelligence!"

Pepper was momentarily stunned by his declaration.

Meanwhile, another question popped up on the screen:

[Which of the following characters is the father of the girl Peter Parker secretly has a crush on?

Note: This is a speed round. Please answer with caution]

[A: Nick Fury

B: Adrian Toomes

C: Tony Stark

D: Thanos]

Upon seeing this question, the players in the Eternal Space paused, caught off guard by its personal nature.

Stephen Strange glanced at the young Peter beside him and teased, "So, what do you think? Do you find that girl Liz from the video pretty?"

Peter's face turned bright red. After some stammering, he nodded shyly.

Pietro shrugged. "You're still a kid, little guy. Early romance isn't a good idea. At least wait until high school before you start dating."

Turning to Strange, he added, "C and D are definitely just filler answers. The real answer is probably between A and B."

Everyone understood Tony Stark well. While Tony clearly had a soft spot for Peter and treated him almost like a son, that didn't mean Tony had an illegitimate child of that age.

Sure, his past love life might have been chaotic, but he likely took proper precautions—or maybe he just wasn't... biologically inclined?

In any case, future revelations had shown that he wouldn't have a daughter with Pepper until much later. Thus, option C could be eliminated. Option D was even less plausible.

From the previously revealed videos, it was clear that while Thanos enjoyed adopting daughters, none of them were from Earth. Unless Liz turned out to be an alien in disguise, this possibility was nearly impossible.

After thinking for a moment, Pietro said, "Option A seems more likely. Liz is a Black girl, so it's reasonable for her to have a Black father, right?"

Stephen Strange smirked and sarcastically commented on Fury: "Heh, I don't buy that guy fathering a beautiful daughter. On the other hand, option B makes for a better story. Think about it from Peter's perspective—falling for a girl whose father just happens to be his enemy. Isn't that more interesting?"

Pietro's eyes widened. "You think that's interesting?"

Peter also looked at Strange in shock, feeling that this "old man"—no, "uncle"—was quite the troublemaker.

In the end, though, the troublemaker Stephen Strange used his "captain's privilege" to forcibly select option B.
