Chapter 645: The Chatterbox Gets a Taste of His Own Medicine

The countdown for the question began quickly. Both teams submitted their answers. Team A—consisting of Erik, Charles, and Logan—lacked enough information and randomly chose option A. Their reasoning, as pietro had said earlier, was simple: a Black father having a Black daughter seemed perfectly logical.

Of course, Erik and Logan hadn't seen Nick Fury before, but Charles had come across Fury's photo during a visit to the Multiverse Defenders Base. The image of a one-eyed man left quite an impression on him.

Ultimately, Team B managed to buzz in first and answer correctly. Soon after, when the countdown ended, the correct answer was revealed:

[Congratulations to Team B for answering correctly. Player Stephen Strange, player Peter Parker, and player Pietro Maximoff each receive 4 points. Team A answered incorrectly. Player Erik Lenhenserr, player Charles Xavier, and player Logan Howlett each lose 1 point.]

Logan smirked, looking over at Erik. "I'm starting to think letting you be team captain wasn't such a smart choice."

Erik merely shrugged. "At least I'm better than you, Logan. Relax, the game has just begun. Trust me, like last time, I'll lead us to victory."

On the other side, Stephen Strange shook his head. "Just as I thought. Peter, looks like your love story isn't going as smoothly as you'd hoped. But on the bright side, her dad hasn't lost his job yet—maybe his future is already starting to change."

Before this, Adrian Toomes was just an ordinary man. But now, thanks to the omnipresent live broadcast, he'd become a global sensation overnight. At this point in time, he hadn't yet turned to crime, but being on display like this would surely get the authorities' attention, painting him as a potential threat.

Most importantly, his social circle would probably blow up. Even though he was innocent, people would inevitably hold him accountable for what his future self might do. Sometimes, seeing the future isn't such a good thing—especially when it's being live-streamed for the whole world to see.

That said, after the Quiz rounds, the Marvel world's audience had seen their fair share of villains. Compared to beings like Thanos, Ego the Celestial, or the ruler of the Dark Dimension, Adrian Toomes was just a small fry. His story, with its roots in being laid off and unfairly treated, even earned him some sympathy.

Once the question ended, the video continued to play.

After alerting Happy about the high-tech weapons, Peter headed straight home. Since he kept his identity a secret from his family, he carefully climbed walls and slipped through his bedroom window. Hanging from the ceiling like a human spider, he shot out webs to silently close the door—executing the maneuver like a seasoned professional.

But when he dropped down and removed his mask, all that professionalism vanished. "What are you doing here?!"

To his shock, his best friend Ned Leeds was sitting on his bed, holding a Death Star model and staring at him, wide-eyed.

Ned had clearly seen Peter's entire acrobatic entrance.

The audience watching the scene couldn't help but laugh. Peter looked so professional, only to end up in such a ridiculous situation. This stark contrast made it all the more entertaining.

This was also a significant difference between Peter and his two predecessors: neither of them had been caught so recklessly. Then again, neither of them had a particularly charming Aunt May like Peter did. In a way, Holland-era Peter was quite the lucky one.

Now that his best friend had discovered his secret, Peter had no choice but to plead with him to keep it quiet. Ned, however, was even chattier than Peter. At school the next day, he pestered Peter non-stop with questions. "Can you spit venom? Can you summon a spider army?"

Peter finally got a taste of his own medicine, experiencing firsthand how annoying it was to deal with someone who couldn't stop talking.

The next event was the party thrown by Liz, the girl Peter had a crush on.

That night, Peter carefully prepared, even bringing along his Spider-Man suit. But he hesitated—after all, the suit Tony Stark had given him wasn't meant for showing off to impress girls.

Of course, if Peter had used it that way, everyone knew Tony Stark wouldn't have cared. Stark himself was far worse—he'd once worn his Iron Man armor to throw a party, after all.

In the end, Peter didn't show off in front of Liz. He noticed a strange blue glow in the distance, identical to the high-tech weapons he'd encountered before.

As always, Spider-Man's sense of responsibility kicked in. Without hesitation, he ran toward the glowing energy. He dramatically vaulted over a wall, shot out his web, and—well—embarrassingly realized there was nothing nearby for him to latch onto. The area was just a wide, open field.

Left with no choice, Peter started running. The scene was both awkward and hilarious, and the audience outside the video burst out laughing once more.

Regardless, Peter eventually arrived at the scene and saw a group of people conducting an illegal weapons deal. These "high-tech weapons" were essentially scavenged junk, bits of alien Chitauri tech left behind from the Battle of New York, remnants of Ultron's chaos, or Hydra-made devices. Even so, they were dangerous enough to threaten ordinary people—and even Spider-Man.

Peter tried to quietly observe, but his phone rang at the worst possible moment. Completely unprepared, he hadn't even silenced it. His cover blown, the criminals immediately attacked. One of them, using a modified high-tech gauntlet, punched Peter and sent him flying.

Peter quickly recovered and chased after their getaway vehicle. But before he could get far, the Vulture appeared. Swooping down from the sky, he grabbed Peter, flew over a lake, and then dropped him straight into the water.

This was Peter's first encounter with the Vulture—and it ended in total defeat.
