Chapter 2450: Wolves
They didn't have to wait for long to find out.
Sam's puppets were delivered by a smaller bird puppet. It threw out five large metallic spheres. Spheres were large, with almost seven feet in diameter. Their surfaces were smooth, save for the lines that appeared like some kind of division.
However, even before the audience could take a good look at the sphere, they started glowing. Death energy oozed out of their bodies as the lines glowed and separated.
The spheres collapsed and five wolves stood in front of the team.
"Crimson Emberwolves?"
One of them muttered out loud.
Because the five wolf puppets in front of them, looked exactly similar to one of the beast that he was familiar with. Crimson Ember wolves. A high level wolf species. As the name suggests, they are crimson in color and they breath fire.
They are fast, agile and they can mix up their fire element very well with their other abilities.
The best of all, they are perfect in their team fights. Their hierarchy and team management was so perfect, some people try to imitate their hunting tactics in the wild and they often do get benefitted from it.
And now, as they looked at the wolf puppets, they couldn't help but feel that they were actually seeing the real thing. They don't know how a sphere opened up to be the creature that was standing in front me.
Apart from the very faint metallic sheen, the wolves looked lifelike. They could even see the fur and its swaying for the slight wind. Their under bellies were white and their bodies were with crimson hair. Their ears were just as thin as a regular wolf and they looked so life like.
Even they trembled like they were real.
The most convincing of all was the movement of the wolves as if they 'breathed'
They could see their stomach's slightly bulging.
The only reason they were convinced they were puppets was because they unfolded right in front of their eyes. And of course, the eyes of the wolves appeared a bit mechanical and robotic. They didn't appear like normal eyes and they glowed with black color.
The wolves even made the same grunting and growling noises as they looked at the group in front of him and slowly inched forward.
The five fighters selected for the fight were ahead and they looked at the wolves nervously. Maybe if it was other academy students, they could have used that resemblance to their own advantage. They might have just tried to use that delude themselves and fight them as if they real beasts.
But right now, they couldn't do that.
Because these students were from Hephaestus academy and they knew what it would take to make a puppet look so lifelike. Lifelike no through illusions or some other cheap tricks, but rather to make a puppet function as if it was alive….
That's hard.
Many people tried and failed. The more detailed they tried to make them, the more troublesome it became. The finer details took the life out of them and sometimes literally.
They had a bad premonition when they looked at the wolves like that. But they had to fight. With a though, all five of them activated the large gloves on their left hands. They collapsed and created heavy shields.
Their free hands held their weapon of their choice. They all stood horizontally side by side as they slowly approached the wolves.
They didn't want to give the wolves any chance to retaliate. The wolves didn't charge at them. Instead, the observed as they tiptoed there, moving within the range of the people. Their bodies weren't that massive compared to other beasts, but they were still big.
They stood at least 8 feet tall.
They could almost peer past the shield wall in front of them. But none of them did. They just focused on the wall as their opponents approached.
Soon, the wolves stopped tiptoeing and stopped in their spots. The opponents and them are only a few feet away. The five wolves, stood with the first one ahead of the rest, with the two behind it and the last two behind them.
Like a pyramid.
They stood in stalemate for three seconds, before everyone both the men and the puppets moved.
*BAM*
The wolf at the lead, leaped at full force as it slammed into the heavy shield. Its body glowed red and flames came out of it. Not just from its mouth. It was almost like every pore of its body was emitting flames.
The flames spread wildly and surrounded the central man it hit. The wall formation collapsed by the sudden force. The opponents never expected this and there was now a huge hole in the wall.
And since everyone in the wall was at a different distance from the respective wolf they were targeting, they were not together anymore.
The remaining four wolves also moved. And they didn't just go straight. The two on the right lunged forward, but they turned left as soon as they neared the shields. Tackling them at the same time and moving to the left. They ran through the hole following the central wolf.
The two on the right, also did the same. They moved to left and ran through the gap following the central wolf.
Before anyone could even comprehend it, the five wolves now surrounded the one guy who was just tackled by the head wolf.
He didn't even have time to get back up before he realized he was surrounded. The first wolf got back up. The man knew he would be screwed if he stayed there. He kipped up, kicked the ground and jumped high into the air.
However, that turned out to be a big mistake.
Before his teammates could even tackle the wolves, One of them lunged at it and caught him in the air, while the remaining four threw out flaming attacks.
The fire incinerated the poor guy and made him vulnerable. At that moment, the wolf that caught him, landed along with him. It slashed its claws on his chest.
It was about to kill him, but halted before it turned around.
The four other opponents stood there while the four wolves kept them in check. They were sizing each other out. The lead wolf, which also the one that nailed the first guy, had its foot on the barely breathing man.
It taunted the remaining four to come at them.
But the couldn't.
This time, the wolves stood in an inverted pyramid formation. The four wolves spreading on either side, and ahead of the head wolf.
They even spread out, creating a larger space. The four opponents didn't know how to proceed. They did want to use the same strategy as the wolves did and go after one of them. But all of a sudden, they were not comfortable with their speed.
Still, they couldn't find any other way. The aura that's coming off the wolves, made them even more afraid of tackling each of them alone.
As they were hesitating, the wolves became decisive. Explore more stories at My Virtual Library Empire
With a grunt all five of them started spewing flames. Their bodies emitted dark red flames that looked like they were brought out right from the hell.
And their flames got connected as they spread to the sides, creating a large semi-circular flaming arc. The wolf at an extreme end blasted an inferno. The opponent had to move with the shield up. The same happened on the other extreme edge.
For a moment, the four didn't even know what was happening and finally all of them were surrounded.
Before they knew, something happened.
The wolves raised their heads and howled out. Flames appeared out of their bodies. A flaming circle was created and the wolves stepped in. What they saw next was a one sided onslaught. The wolves leaped at the candidates one by one and attacked them like crazy.
They didn't even let them have a chance to breath.
The opponents could only block. A couple of them seemed to be fire element users themselves and they did try to attack. But to their surprise, their fire attacks got snubbed out. The flames coming out of the wolves' bodies, just devoured everything else.
Before they knew it, the spectators saw the shields melting and collapsing back. The armor torn apart as if it was corroded by the heat and finally the flesh and guts spilling out from the burned open slashes of the wolf claws.
The four of them were pieced up like a weak prey the wolves found of their steppes.
It was brutal.
And the worst part was, the five wolves didn't even finish them. They left them almost dead, in their last breaths.
The other members hurriedly ran over and checked the five of them.
They were stunned.
"Don… Don't touch them. They… they are cursed. It was the curse of the flaming hell. It is a very potent curse. You can't come into contact with their bodies at the moment. If you do, the heat energy will invade your bodies as well.
We need to get them out and take them back to the elders."
