Early in the morning, Ash awakened by the ringing noises in his head. This time, however, the system was not showing his status window per usual.

When he chose the automatic option, the liger cub was awakened by the warmth that surged from within her body. However, she was completely unaware of the change. She yawned leisurely, stretching her legs and arms.

"Good morning, Master!" Shanguang was on all four almost immediately.

"Morning, Xiao Shan," greeted Ash. "How's your feeling, do you feel any oddity with your body?"

"Mmm, nothing in particular. Though I could feel my body brimming with strength and vitality! Mmmhh, last night, the snake's ribs were so delicious! Can I have more, Master!"

Ash took out the stored meat from his Storage Ring and tossed the snake meat into the air. The liver cub jumped into the air, catching it with her jaws.

While she was enjoying her breakfast, Ash opened her status details in the system.

"What was that?" Shanguang chimed while chewing on her meal.

"Oh, nothing." Ash dismissed the screen interface. "Have you finished your meal?"

"Yes, Master! What animal should we hunt next?!"

"No hunting for you today."

"Noooo!!! Why not! I am at my peak condition right now."

Ash was smiling behind his stern and serious facade. She reminds him of Glowpaw when that dog was a puppy.

"That's why, you are not going to hunt for today. We are going to train both your mind and body."

Shanguang tilted her head. "Training? Oh! Are you going to train me to fight like you? Yippie!"

He didn't expect that Shanguang's energy was too much for him to handle. In fact, learning the Feather Swords Gather Array was much easier than this hyperactive cub.

Before long, clouds of dust and traces of destruction littered the forest when the two Immortal Beasts were at it. Initially, Ash wanted to give her a handicap in this training session. However, Shanguang was surprisingly able to close the gap multiple times.

Oftentimes, Ash had to use his lightweight body to his advantage to outrun the little cub. While she was catching a breather, Ash leisurely perched on a rock, grooming his feathers thoroughly.

"What's the matter? Are you done? You said, "You were in peak condition." Not a long ago."

"No! I am not done yet!" Shanguang gritted her teeth, annoyed. "I am thinking."

"Sure… take your time," said the Heavenly Phoenix in a half mocking voice.

"Grrrrr…. Just you wait! I will pluck your tail's feathers and use them as accessories!"

"I have the strength and stamina, yet I am not fast enough to catch him. I must change my method."

After a quick deliberation, Shanguang realized the core difference between her and her Master. The Heavenly Phoenix used his talons to dig the ground in order to get a better grip. Meanwhile, her claws were tucked inside when running, resulting in less traction.

"Ah! That's why I can't get closer to him during the chase! My legs were slipping everywhere due to the excessive stress on my paws! If I were to use my [Glowing Claws] I can run faster! Also, I can use my tail to balance my posture during cornering!"

Ash proudly smiled when Shanguang figured out how to utilize her claws and tail. "Splendid! I will give you an A! But, can you do it though? It's not as easy as you think."

"Hmph! You better run, Master! Or I will pluck your feathers!"

With just a kick on the ground, Shanguang propelled herself toward him at neck-breaking speed. Ash could feel her bloodlust even just for a split second.

"That's it! That's what I am talking about! Now, it's time for me to get serious, too!"

Neither of them wanted to lose, they kept increasing their speed until the scenery in their sights turned blurry.

Before they knew it, the area where the game took place had become a battlefield as if there was a herd of elephants rampaging the forest.

After hours of chase, Ash was finally cornered at the very end of a cliff. As promised, flying was off limits for him.

"You have nowhere to run now, Master." Said the Liger cub, panting heavily.

"You naughty little girl. You do know this area very well, and drove me here."

"Hehehe! That's my plan from the beginning!"

"Astoundingly clever way to use the environment to your advantage. However, you still need to touch my feather in order to win the game. I won't run away, try your best, Xiao Shan."

Surprisingly, Shanguang dropped the chase, and sat on her hind legs instead.

"I will not be able to touch your feather, Master. Not now, at least. I'm still far, far away to match your speed and cunningness. But, I now understand how to use my body properly. Thank you for your guidance, Master."

Ash wanted to applaud her, but he had no hands. Therefore, he opted to give her plenty of head pats instead.

"Good, very good. That's what I truly want to teach you. Now, say your reward, I will give you anything you wished for. As promised."

"I don't want it."

"Eh, why?"

"Not until I am able to pluck one of your feathers."

"Hahaha!" Ash laughed so freely for the first time since he reincarnated to this realm. "I am looking forward to that moment! But of course, I will grow stronger too. You better keep up with me, Xiao Shan."
