Reborn as Lust Master

Chapter 6: The Empty Room

Auren sat, watching her move again with grace and warmth. Her presence was... grounding. She moved like a mother — no, like a guardian — fulfilling her duties without hesitation.

As she chopped vegetables and stirred the soup pot, Auren stared at her back.

> She's doing her duty with full responsibility… without fail. But why… why can't I do mine?

> My duty is to dominate. To control her body… make her mine. So why is my hand trembling? Why does hesitation exist when I look at her?

Conflicting voices roared inside him — dark urges clashing with flickers of guilt, of something almost human.

Selene turned around with a gentle smile, interrupting his inner battle.

"Here you go, dear. Your soup," she said, placing the warm bowl gently on the table in front of him.

Auren blinked, the steam fogging his vision for a moment.

"Thank you…" he muttered, surprised by the softness in his own voice.

Selene sat down across from him, resting her chin on her palm as she watched him take the first sip. Her eyes glowed with warmth — not suspicion, not fear — just love.

As he drank slowly, her gaze never wavered.

"You've grown so much, Auren…" she whispered. "Sometimes I forget you're no longer that little boy clinging to my skirt."

He looked up, startled.

Selene chuckled softly, then stood and walked around the table. Before he could react, she wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a warm embrace.

"I love you, Auren. No matter how old you get, you'll always be my precious boy."

His face flushed red instantly as his cheek pressed tightly into her soft chest. Her warmth was overwhelming, and her scent wrapped around him like a spell.

He didn't move.

Couldn't move.

His heart pounded violently in his chest, and all the dark power within him suddenly felt distant — like a fading echo behind the sound of her heartbeat.

> Why…? Why does she make me feel like this?

As Selene gently stroked his hair, smiling down at him with pure affection, Auren sat silently, swallowed by emotions far more dangerous than any spell he could cast.

---

The sun had dipped behind the hills, casting long shadows through the windows. The warmth of the day was fading, but Selene still felt unusually tense — as if something in the house had shifted, like the air was thicker than usual.

She stood in the hallway, folding laundry, but her mind kept wandering back to Auren.

> His eyes… they looked different today.

Like something was burning behind them.

Earlier, when she hugged him, his body had felt stiff. Not in a tired way — but restrained, tense, like a coil ready to snap. And when he pressed against her chest, she felt it… that strange stillness in him. His hands didn't move. His breathing had quickened.

Selene frowned. Auren had always been shy — adorably so. But that wasn't shyness. That was something else.

---

Down the hall, Auren sat alone in his room, the lights off, the only glow coming from the thin blue shimmer of the System Interface still floating before him.

His fingers twitched as he stared blankly at the numbers.

> She's noticing. She's watching me more closely.

His thoughts spiraled — half anger, half confusion. Part of him wanted Selene to see what he was becoming, to feel it, to fear it. But another part — the weaker, softer part — resisted.

> Why does her smile make my hands shake? Why can't I bind her like the others?

His breath grew heavier. He clenched his jaw.

- I need to level up. I need control.

---

Back in the kitchen, Selene stirred the teapot absently. Her eyes wandered to the stairwell.

> He didn't even look at me the same way today.

She wiped her hands, suddenly deciding to check on him. Quietly, she walked up the stairs, her bare feet making no sound against the old wood.

As she neared his door, a strange hum brushed her ears — faint, but unnatural. A kind of low vibration in the air, like a pressure pressing against her temples.

Her brow furrowed.

> What is that sound…?

She placed her hand on the doorknob.

Then it stopped.

The hum, the pressure — gone in an instant.

Selene stood there for a moment longer, uncertain. Then she knocked gently.

"Auren? Sweetheart? Are you okay in there?"

Auren jumped. He had just deactivated the system screen and was gripping the edge of his bed tightly, sweat clinging to his forehead.

He inhaled and forced his voice steady. "Y-Yeah… I'm fine. Just resting."

Selene didn't open the door. She hesitated for a second, then replied softly, "Alright. I'll leave your tea outside. Don't stay up too late."

He heard her footsteps slowly retreat down the hallway.

Auren sat there, heart pounding.

She felt it.

> She felt the aura...

> She's beginning to sense the change.

He stared at his door, a flicker of fear — or excitement — darting through him.

---

Downstairs, Selene stood by the kitchen counter, one hand to her chest, deep in thought.

> That energy… That presence... I've never felt something like that before.

She looked toward the stairs again, concern shadowing her eyes.

> What is happening to my Auren?

---

It was night already.

Selene sitting in her bed, her eyes fixed on the ceiling, arms resting across her chest, but her mind was far from sleep. She couldn't shake the unease that had settled in her heart like a stone.

Auren's face earlier… the tension in his body… and that strange sensation outside his door—it all gnawed at her thoughts.

Finally, she sat up.

"I need to check on him."

She pulled on her robe, tied it tightly, and stepped into the hallway. The moonlight seeped in through the windows, casting pale beams across the floorboards. The air was cooler now, but something still felt... off. She could feel it again — that pressure. Faint, but present.

Her hand touched Auren's door.

She knocked. "Auren?"

Silence.

"Auren, are you asleep?" she asked gently.

No answer.

She turned the handle slowly. It wasn't locked.

The door creaked open.

Selene stepped inside — and immediately stopped.

The room was cold. Unnaturally cold. The air was heavy, like it had been drained of warmth and life.

"Auren…?" she called again, now more firmly.

But the room was empty.

No sign of him.
