Reborn as Madokas Twin Brother

Chapter 10: gf

As they ran straight, kyoko puffed her cheeks in annoyance as she thought about Manaka's earlier words about liking another person too. She didn't want to admit it but she was a tad bit jealous even though he told her today but she also didn't hate the feeling of being liked.

But...it would have been even better if he liked only her and got to know each other more...she sighed and just thought of a much simpler way to get her way.

I could just kill sayaka...but i don't want to hurt someone who was just innocent a day ago and killing doesn't seem right to me at the moment.

She shakes her head getting rid of those thoughts and broke into a cold sweat as she looked down and saw her soul gem darkening further. Yeah maybe she should stop thinking about negative things and almost becoming a witch.

Manaka caught her looking at his direction and smiled, then he focused in front of him as he ran past her, Kyoko blushed a bit.

Kyoko clicked her tongue, forcing herself to shake off the lingering thoughts. Stupid. She was being stupid. What the hell was wrong with her? She had never been the kind of girl to get all flustered over something like this.

She took a deep breath, willing the creeping darkness in her soul gem to settle. Now wasn't the time for distractions. There was a witch to be found, and she needed to focus on the hunt not on some annoying, smug idiot who just happened to say something that caught her off guard.

Manaka, oblivious to her internal struggle (or maybe completely aware and just enjoying himself), kept his pace ahead of her. His movements were fluid, controlled—too precise to be anything but intentional. Kyoko narrowed her eyes.

For someone who had only been a magical boy for a few days, he sure as hell acted like he had years of experience. It bugged her. He knew too much. And while she had to admit he had skills, something about him felt… off.

She caught up to him, matching his stride. "Oi," she called out, her voice sharp but not aggressive. "You sure you're not hiding anything from me?"

Manaka chuckled, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. "Hiding what, exactly?"

Kyoko frowned. "I dunno. You just… don't act like a rookie. It's weird."

Manaka hummed, as if considering her words. Then, after a moment, he shrugged. "Magical girls get rid of despair by transferring it to a grief seed, witches devour despair because they are a curse which was once the soul of a magical girl. i am a boy who can devour witches and set them free as i devour their despair, wishes, curses and memories so in a sense i have a bit of experience"

Kyoko almost tripped when she heard that, Manaka stopped he turned around to look at her. "What's wrong"

"Manaka....that sounds disgusting...are you ok" Kyoko didn't know why she was asking such a question but she wondered how he is still sane after absorbing a witches despair.

Manaka chuckled. "Don't worry, i have only ever devoured two witches in my life, so it isn't that bad."

Kyoko wanted to speak but she hesitated, she doesn't get it, why should she care for him? He was just some new guy, someone who showed up out of nowhere with weird powers and an even weirder explanation for them. She barely knew him. And yet...

She clicked her tongue again, shaking her head. "Tch. Whatever. Just don't start acting all high and mighty 'cause you've got some freaky ability."

Manaka tilted his head slightly, his smile never faltering. "High and mighty? Nah. I'm just telling you the truth. If anything, I envy you, Kyoko."

Kyoko blinked. "Hah? What the hell is there to envy?"

He looked ahead, eyes soft but distant. "You fight because you want to. Not because you have to."

That made her stop for a second. She wasn't sure if she agreed with that. Wasn't she fighting because she had to? Because this was the only way she knew how to survive? But before she could say anything, a thick, eerie presence cut through the air.

The witch's barrier.

The city around them warped, twisting into an unnatural, grotesque landscape of shifting walls and floating, broken structures. The familiar chill of danger crept down her spine.

"Looks like we're here," Manaka said, taking a step forward without hesitation.

...

Manaka was a simple minded fellow a few days ago but as he devoured more witches and the more he came closer to the end of the world, the more he slowly felt himself becoming less human.

To be honest, the only reason he told Kyoko he liked her was because...he found her interesting and fun to be around with and also because it won't really matter at the end, once everything disappears and he was also a bit lonely so why not date more than one person and stop them from becoming a witch at the same time.

he did want to help Homura too but he felt like she really doesn't trust him that much and she is a sort of a desperate yandere obsessed with his twin sister which made him a bit apprehensive too.

But he knew the girl wasn't bad, she just suffers from too much depression and obsession. if he could he definitely would have made sure to trick her into dating madoka without acting so cold, if she was that desperate she would have already stopped madoka from making a wish to the alien being that interfered in the history of their entire world

Manaka was just being helpful in a twisted sort of way.

He decided not to use the spear. he summoned his spear which belonged to the first witch he slayed, he also used [Weak Point Detection] since he doesn't want this to drag one.

He closed his left eye as the witches familiar started to flood in, they resembled fairies with the head of decayed and torn stuffed dolls with plastic wings that were melting droplets onto the ground.

He turned to Kyoko and asked. "Are you ready to continue our date kyoko, let's make it fun and dance together"

Kyoko rolled her eyes and didn't answer soon they began their dance.

...

After fighting a seemingly infinite number of familiars the two finally arrived at the center of the labyrinth and a set of runes appeared as usual, kyoko didn't care enough to lookat them thus she ignored them and went for the witch. But Manaka wanted to understand them and since he is partially a witch he stayed back, when a magical girl becomes a witch they are given a name and it seems these runes have some sort of power.

The power to use magic through writing and speaking, Manaka wanted all the power he could get at the moment and this is a good chance.

The runes were intricate, shifting across the grotesque walls like living ink. Manaka narrowed his eyes, focusing on their meaning. Every witch has a name… and with it, a story.

As he traced the symbols with his eyes, fragments of knowledge surfaced in his mind—memories that weren't his."Erlösung."

The name of the witch before them. It meant "redemption." Manaka's lips curled slightly. How ironic.

Kyoko, meanwhile, had no patience for his hesitation. She lunged at the witch without waiting for him, her spear spinning as she struck its barrier. The air crackled with magic as the towering, robed figure of Erlösung swayed, its faceless head turning toward her with eerie stillness.

"Quit standing around, dumbass!" Kyoko shouted at Manaka. "You're supposed to be my backup, not some bookworm!" Manaka chuckled but didn't move just yet. His fingers traced a few runes in the air, mimicking their form. If witches could use magic through words and symbols… could he?

A thought crossed his mind. If he—

His vision blurred. A rush of something surged through him, his body growing cold for a moment before stabilizing. When he opened his mouth, words flowed in a language not quite his own.

"Auflösung."

The runes around him pulsed, responding to his voice. And then, to his quiet satisfaction, the space around the witch shifted.

Erlösung trembled, as if affected by his command.

Kyoko barely had time to glance at him before the witch let out a piercing, distorted wail, its massive hands clawing at the shifting air around it.

Manaka exhaled. So it works.

This power… He needed to experiment more. If he could command witches, even just for a moment, it could change everything.

But for now, Kyoko was still fighting. And despite everything, he didn't want her to die. He was going to take her out on a real date tomorrow.

....

The witch was easily taken care of even though it took them fifteen minutes to end it, Kyoko took the grief seed and purified her soul gem with it, she then gave the grief seed to manaka. "That date was boring, but it was fun hanging out with someone else in a long time so goodbye"

But before she could leave Manaka chuckled. "Hey why not go on a real date tomorrow, hunting witches as a first date appears to be boring huh"

Kyoko stared at his dark pink eyes for a few moments, she wanted to harshly decline...then she thought if she did that,he might ask that Saiaka girl instead....and she felt a sort of annoyance when she heard that. "Ugh fine, goodbye"

she quickly ran away from there after she said that, Manaka chuckled at her shy enthusiasm and as for him in this night...he would go back home and just tell his parents he forgot hid medicine at home and decided to leave his 'friends' house.
