Chapter 716 Warrior's Day
The neat and rhythmic sound of the marching band immediately caught the attention of the audience seated on Parliament Road. The people quickly stood up from their seats, clapping their hands in excitement and anticipation. The diplomats in the Bharatiya Empire and guests who had come to witness the event all looked eagerly towards the flag, which was being brought forward by a marching platoon.
Al-Mutawakkil Isma'il and Khalid ibn Umar al-Mahri sat next to each other with smiles on their faces. Ever since they had stepped foot in the Bharatiya Empire, their worldview had been constantly broken again and again.
It was almost as if they had stepped into an empire that was living in the future. Al-Mutawakkil saw this nation's unbelievable city planning, fast light-speed communication technology, extremely fertile soil, a highly knowledgeable population, and, most importantly, manufacturing capabilities that brought chills down his spine.
The tour of the Bharatiya Empire brought him a lot of insights into how a society should be, and more importantly, it made him understand how backwards his ruling system was.
Ever since he arrived in the Bharatiya Empire a month ago, he constantly enquired with the civil servants about anything he had a doubt about, like why there was no hereditary nobility in the Bharatiya Empire, why there were no slaves, why a certain policy was formulated in a certain way, or why a certain bill had been proposed in a certain way.
The more he learned, the more he understood how deep the foundation of the Bharatiya Empire was. Even after staying for a whole month and learning everything he could, he still felt like he had yet to scratch the surface.
Fortunately for Al-Mutawakkil, he was a wise leader; he knew where to draw the line.
So, with a determination to reform his own country, he noted down some of the important governing features of the Bharatiya Empire that he could adopt in order to make his country progress—and make it stronger while putting aside the rest to be deliberated at a later date in case the reforms he had initiated worked. He clenched his fist as he willed his Imamate to be strong enough to defend against the constant Ottoman threat looming over their heads, and strong enough to one day take back their holy sites of Mecca and Madina.
Al-Mutawakkil's eyes were like daggers, staring at the arriving soldiers as he tried to ascertain how deadly they were by the march alone. He had heard so many things about the Bharatiya Empire from the trading merchants who had recently started to come to his country, and he had also seen so many things in the Bharatiya Empire for himself, but now he was going to find out how strong the Bharatiya Empire's military actually was.
Soon, the announcer standing next to him shouted, "Arriving first are the brave and fearless warriors from the Southern Command belonging to the most prominent Chola Regiment. Please put your hands together for these brave and fearless warriors, reigning terror and deterrence through their naval and amphibious warfare operations!"
Al-Mutawakkil could feel the vibrations in his body as the soldiers in front of him marched like a single machine. When the soldiers passed right in front of him, his eyebrows were raised as he was shocked when all four columns behind the first column almost disappeared due to how synchronized the march was.
As soon as the Chola Regiment passed in front of Vijay, the pole bearer immediately screamed a command as he wielded the pole like a part of his arm, swinging it constantly at his sides. The first row of the march immediately loaded their guns, pointed them to the sky, and pulled the trigger.
"Boom!"
All five gunshots culminated in a single loud bang.
Al-Mutawakkil was a little startled. He kept his hand on his chest, feeling his heart beating rapidly.
His eyes blazed like two fireballs. "This is the army I need. This is it."
Coming after the Chola Regiment was the Kakatiya Regiment, which specialized in heavy infantry warfare.
When the soldiers, all over 6.5 feet tall, marched in front of the crowd wearing heavy metal armour and moving in perfect synchronization, even the Europeans, who prided themselves on their knight culture, gaped in shock.
The equipment of the European knights might not have been much different from that of the heavy infantry marching in front of them, but the discipline they were witnessing was nowhere close. How could the noble, high, and mighty knights, who were so unruly, cooperate with each other and be this disciplined?
"Congratulations, Your Majesty. The strength of the Bharatiya Empire has increased once again," Peter said with a sombre expression as he looked at Vijay sitting next to him. "Also, the military seems to have been reformed. The last time I visited, I remember the troops were not so orderly divided."
Vijay, listening to Peter's praise that was not praise, remained silent. As for the question of management, he looked at Peter with a smile and replied, "We found out that for a pluralistic empire like ours, where there are more languages than the whole of Europe combined, putting all these soldiers under one management module was simply inefficient and generally a pain, since the contradictions and disputes that arose due to differences in cultures were not one or two."
"So, last year, twenty-seven different regiments were formed, each regiment a different military unit with different rules and different practices."
"Hmm!", Peter suddenly asked, "Your Majesty, Khudae requests you to see the management structure if possible,"
"Sure, it's not a problem," Vijay nodded.
Peter turned his head and put his gaze once again on the marching soldiers who were demonstrating various manoeuvres. 'Could I do the same thing with the Cossacks, Yakuts, Buryats, and Tatars?' His eyes showed a little hope,
After he returned to the empire last time, he was greatly stimulated by Vijay, who was nearly the same age as him but was already the Emperor of one of the strongest nations in the world. So he no longer wanted to wait for his father's death until he was finally given a fief to rule. Instead, he proposed to his father to grant him a title and a fiefdom right away, given that he would give up his claim to the throne.
His father was immediately shocked when he heard his decision, but his brother, the Crown Prince, immediately became happy and somehow convinced their father. Discover exclusive tales at My Virtual Library Empire
In the end, he became the Archduke of the whole of Siberia.
And in these uncivilized and untouched parts of Russia, there were still a lot of tribes he had to deal with. Suppressing them was not a problem since he had an army of 100,000 soldiers, but making them obey him was the problem. Looking at the regimented system of the Bharatiya Empire, he suddenly realized that this could be the solution he was looking for.
The march continued, and one after another, regiments came and left, all with different rhythms, different music, and different emblems. The only thing that remained similar was the camouflage uniforms since the camouflage uniforms couldn't really be changed just because the soldiers were from different regiments—that would be stupid.
However, what drastically changed from one regiment to another was the mode of transport. Some regiments used horses, while others used elephants or even camels. For example, the Larkana Regiment of the Western Command, specializing in desert and border defences, the Multan Regiment of Multan in Western Punjab, specializing in desert warfare and tactical operations, and the Baluchistan Regiment, specializing in deep desert warfare, as well as the Pratihara Regiment, specializing in camel cavalry and defence tactics, and the Solanki Regiment, specializing in desert warfare, all used camels in different quantities.
Seeing so many ways the camels were being used, Al-Mutawakkil almost popped his eyes by how wide he was opening them. He was already shocked by seeing the normal infantry of the Bharatiya Empire, but looking at the regiments that specialized in warfare in dry and arid climates, which were very similar to his own kingdom, his eyes brightened, and he already saw the hope of regaining his holy sites.
Another thing that caught the attention of a few interested people were, peculiarly enough, the regiments from the Northern Command, especially the Gurkha Regiment, Maurya Regiment, Kashyapamar Regiment, and the Sikh Regiment. All had a unique weapon, in their mountain and snowy operations squads, that had never been seen before.
Especially the Gurkha Regiment and Kashyapamar Regiment, which were all equipped with this weapon.
The weapon looked like a normal standard-issue brown bess rifle, but its color was totally white, like that of fresh white snow. Not only that, it seemed like a lot of parts had been replaced from the gun, where some metal parts were made of wood, and even the material used to make the gun seemed to be completely different.
Looking at these guns, Frederick William of Prussia Brandenburg immediately sat up from his seat, his eyes filled with eagerness. He immediately understood what the changes to the gun could mean.
The reason why he personally came to the Bharatiya Empire—the guns he saw right in front of him—was one of the reasons for it.
