Chapter 717: Discussions (1/2)
The Warriors' Day parade eventually came to a very regrettable but definitely successful end with the worship of the sacred fire of civilization that has been burning continuously for the last 2–3 years. As the days passed, all the Dukes and Barons who had come to the Bharatiya Empire to witness the legendary March that had been talked about in Europe have all started to go back.
Vijay soon got very busy. He had to build up the economic framework in order for the Bharatiya Empire to trade with all the Southeast Asian nations formally. What's more, he inaugurated the building of a tent where Lord Ganesha would reside for the next nine days, and he personally kick-started the first preliminary for the Bharatiya Premier League (BPL).
However, there were still some important guests who had not left and were waiting to have a dialogue with him.
Al-Mutawakkil Isma'il was the first person he met—the Imam of Qasimid.
Listening to Isma'il's request, Vijay was taken aback because he did not expect an Islamic Imam to think of development so pragmatically with such delicate consideration.
Vijay was not a saint. He had his biases against a certain religious group, which was a bias formed from both his past life and the present. He only befriended the state of Qasimid since there was a common enemy, and this temporary friend could be used to distract some of the attention from the Ottoman Empire as they had a very high potential to pull the aggro of the Ottoman Empire. Even if the Ottoman Emperor Mehmed IV did not think much about his holy sites, at least as an obligation, he had to protect Mecca and Madina at all costs, which would lead him to give more priority to the territory in Arabia than he needed to. Because of this, Vijay never expected the state of Qasimid to do real damage to the Ottomans.

But now, looking at Al-Mutawakkil, he started to realize that he was wrong, and he slowly changed his evaluation of the state of Qasimid in his mind because if the leader was so pragmatic and willing to change, then it was easy for the country to change.
Vijay never doubted it, Bharatiya Empire was a prime example of it. In the 17th century, almost all the nations in the world followed a top-down model, meaning the change started at the top, and people at the lower levels simply adopted it.
Thinking of all this, Vijay looked at the old Imam with a smile
"Mr Isma'il, I can fulfil both of your requests," he said as he nodded. "For management help and to help you fulfil your vision and see through the reforms, you can directly employ a few ministers of parliament. Additionally, if you're lucky, you can permanently employ a police chief commissioner who has been retired due to injuries to be your consultant. And finally, a few high-ranking judges and lawyers from various Supreme Courts will be very helpful in taking care of the legal aspects of your reform and setting up a legal framework to the Qasimid State. Adding these three groups together should give you enough help."
Al-Mutawakkil Isma'il kept constantly nodding his head, the smile not leaving his face.
"As for the military modernization, you can simply send all your soldiers for us to train. We will make them strong, capable, and disciplined just like the soldiers of the Bharatiya Empire."
Isma'il's smile immediately became a little awkward. "Your Majesty, can't anyone from the military be sent to Qasimid to give hands-on training?" he asked, feeling a little unwilling because he knew that as soon as he sent soldiers to the Bharatiya Empire to train, they would no longer be only his soldiers. They would be mentally indoctrinated to be friendly to the Bharatiya Empire no matter the cause.
Although Isma'il didn't have any idea of offending the Bharatiya Empire, he still felt uncomfortable knowing that most of his soldiers would most likely drop their weapons and surrender in case he gave the order to march into the Bharatiya Empire.
Vijay, looking at Isma'il's struggling expression, quickly understood what he was worried about. He immediately knew his plan wouldn't work, but he was not disappointed—if anything, he was flexible.
"Of course, some retired generals from the army could be sent to Qasimid State to give hands-on training. But Mr. Isma'il, does your nation have the required training facilities?" He quickly found a reason that the Imam couldn't refute.
As expected, Al-Mutawakkil Isma'il was stumped. He had never seen the training facilities of the Bharatiya military, but from what he had seen till now, he knew that it could not be anything simple. His expression immediately became downcast.
Seeing this, Vijay smirked, but he quickly covered it up with an empathetic expression. "Your Excellency Imam, how about this? You send the first batch of your top military to undergo training in the empire while you employ the logistics department of the Bharatiya Army to construct the training facilities in your nation to train troops locally."
"So when the soldiers trained in the Bharatiya Empire come back, you can directly ask them to be the instructors, or you can, like I previously suggested, directly employ a retired military general to be the sergeant responsible for training."
Al-Mutawakkil Isma'il thought about it for a while and nodded. After discussing some more issues with Vijay about governance and common topics, he finally left the palace with a smile on his face.
Looking at the departing figure of Isma'il, Vijay couldn't help but wonder if the UAE of the 21st century would be built in Yemen.
Moments later, he met up with Roxana Athashban and Ezidi Serwan, who had both come to meet him to express their worries about the growing threat of the Ottomans.
"Your Majesty, the number of attacks on the northern line of control has grown constantly in the last few months. Every day, there is at least a single incident throughout the border, and this is only increasing. Your Majesty, is there something you can do?" they asked.
Vijay had a serious expression on his face. "This is a war of attrition; there is practically nothing that can be done. But I understand your worries—I will increase the output of military weaponry to the resistance army."
Vijay was naturally not telling the whole truth, since if he wanted, he could really support another war in the "Civil War" in Safavid and let the kingdoms of Persia and Lalishsthan occupy the remaining territory. But the Ottomans getting involved in the civil war was a great opportunity for him to bleed them, so he hadn't done anything drastic.
What's more, although it is mainly the resources he provides at a low cost that is constantly being consumed, the soldiers most affected are from the kingdoms of Persia and Lalishsthan. If he told his actual intention, he believed they would not react very pleasantly.
So this was one of those things Vijay would keep very close to his heart for as long as possible.
Sending away the crown Princess and the king, Vijay then met up with Frederick William of Prussia-Brandenburg.
"Truth be told, Your Highness, I was not expecting to meet you here."
"Haha, neither did I, Your Majesty—it's all circumstances."
"That is true. So tell me, Your Highness, what can I do for you?"
"Your Majesty, those white rifles equipped by the Northern Command are special snow-resistant variants, aren't they?" Frederick asked.
Vijay nodded. "Yes, they are to be used in places with harsh climatic conditions like snowy terrain."
Frederick William immediately smiled. ' As expected', he thought in his heart. "Your Majesty, I need this specific version of the gun in large quantities. Could you please allow it to be exported?"
Vijay immediately fell into thought because the new version of the Brown Bess rifle was built with the highest precision of Generation 4 machine tools. Weapons of this calibre were previously not put into the market since they had already reached a very high level of technicality.
But now, since the Generation 5 machine tools had been built, a new generation of firearms could be developed to be more advanced and more practical than the single-fire Brown Bess rifle. What's more, the Europeans had already caught up with the Brown Bess rifle, and all of its small technical details had been copied to perfection by them. Even though these copycats could only be produced by hand since they did not have machine tools that matched the precision requirements, it shouldn't take long for the Europeans to achieve that either, as they had already managed to develop their own proprietary Generation 3 machine tools.
"It can be sold, Your Highness, but only if the quantity is large enough," Vijay replied.
Frederick William was overjoyed. "Thank you, Your Majesty. Don't worry, I intend to equip almost all of my army with this rifle. I won't cut down on the quantity, but Your Majesty, what about the price?"
To be continued...
