Chapter 323: Golden Blur
Kael shot through the sky as a golden blur, streaking over the heads of the herd members.
His eyes opened wide, shielding against the harsh wind that tried to resist his fast movement.
Seeing Kael turn into a golden blur that flew through the sky, the other horde members saw it as a signal to begin their attack.
They charged forth, each of them covered in faint golden glows, indicating their enhanced strength and defenses.
It was also at this time that the fanatic herd groups made it to the edge of the Super Mega Herd, leaving a trail of scattered soil and bloody bodies.
Seeing the incoming creatures with golden glows on their body. The fanatics didn't panic, they had been informed of the arrival of their allies beforehand.
Instead of running away, they made way and allowed the horde members to mingle with the fanatic herd members as they charged back at the Super Mega Herd.
Almost every fanatic herd group now had a glowing predator within, leading the charge back after their king.
A wolf leading a group of zebras and antelopes? Or a bear at the front of a charging team of giraffes and wildebeests. It was a slight that no one was sure had ever occurred in the history of Eridoria.
But it was happening here, and it was happening now.
Glowing birds swooped down from the sky, bringing with them flashes of sharp beaks and talons.
Almost all at once, the fanatic groups, led by their glowing allies, smashed into the edges of the Super Mega Herd.
The force and morale created stunning effects. The heavy bodies of buffaloes were sent flying into the air and giraffes were tumbled to the ground.
Any herd creature that tried to show too much resistance was quickly dealt with. In this case, the best way to avoid the attacks of the fanatic groups was to just run away from them.
The more a creature puffed its chest and tried to protect its ego, the more likely it was that the fanatics would focus on it. They were really intent on crushing the pride of all those who refused to join their vision.
For the sake of efficiency, Kael did not tell anyone other than Priya his strategy and illusion for controlling these fanatic herd members.
The creatures of Kael's beastly horde all thought that these were just herd creatures that had gained common sense to switch to Kael's side. They didn't know that these creatures had actually lost their common sense. Hence, they were fighting alongside their predators for a lion.
As the fanatic groups charged into the Super Mega Herd to resume their carnage, Kael was doing his own thing.
The sound of the air being torn apart as something flashed through the sky at an incredibly fast speed was heard.
Then, a sonic boom was heard. It was very brief as a louder sound was heard soon after. The second loud sound was the sound of an explosion which occurred after Kael slammed heavily into the center of the Super Mega Herd.
The authentic version is on M|V|LEMPY_R.
Dust clouds rose, and the air became corrupted with dust particles. Very few creatures had the ability to see and what they saw through the dust cloud horrified them.
A massive lion, the biggest lion they had ever seen. And he had golden fur, just like how the fanatics had been shouting.
The aura was thick, and it came with an intense feeling of oppression and the desire to bow to this lion.
A deep growl that shook the ground they stood on was heard, many of them could not control their bladders and peed on themselves.
Only two seconds had passed since Kael landed on the shattered ground and the creatures were in motion of turning around and running for their lives.
Like a ghost, Kael disappeared from his position, leaving a trail of dust and a weird sound as though space was stretching around him.
Before anyone could find out where he was, dozens of blood fountains were created as the red liquid spewed into the air. Hot blood dyed the tall grasses, painting a gruesome scene.
The headless creatures fell silently to the ground, they had died a swift death, the most merciful death anyone could ever give them in this wild plains.
The feeling of panic increased as the herd creatures ran helter-skelter, but there were not many places to run. It was turning into a great stampede.
Kael did not stop, wherever he was. Fire claws, water spikes, air blast, spatial slashes, electric burst. He sent out everything one after the other.
Each of his attacks contained significant power and caused devastating explosions that took out multiple creatures at the same time. Herbivores were dying everywhere he swiped his claws at.
Every bite would send the head and flesh of different creatures into his mouth. His nose and furry jaw were soaked in sticky blood.
His tail swiped left, and the limbs of some zebras and running buffaloes would be severed from their body. His tail swiped right, the long neck of a giraffe would be cut short.
He stomped his front paw on the head of a wildebeest, crushing it flat and sending a wave of purple lightning that coursed through the moist ground.
Hundreds more died by electrocution, burning, squashing, or being dismembered. Some even saw the insides of Kael's big mouth just before their skulls were crushed by his metal fangs.
Kael moved very fast. One second he was hundreds of meters away, the next second he was right next to them, bringing his massive paw down for a fatal strike.
The only time they were able to get a good look at his form was when he lowered his body before pouncing or when he stopped to kill.
Thousands had already died in the first one minute that Kael started his onslaught. So much blood, it was staggering, literally.
Some creatures were literally falling into blood mud at this point.
The only creatures that were able to match Kael somewhat were those that shared the same power level with him.
And this was very subjective as Kael had no problem killing some of them. He didn't spend more than six seconds dealing with those so-called powerhouses, and when he did, the aftereffects on the land were mind-blowing.
Large pieces of land were flung high into the sky along with the large heads and limbs of Kael's enemies.
From above, it looked like a golden beam was constantly moving from one part of the battlefield to another. And any time it stopped, it would cause a big explosion that would send rocks and dead bodies flying about.
Kael was ruthlessly reducing their numbers from the inside while the other fanatics were doing so from the outside.
As big as the Super Mega Herd was, they were shocked to find that they were surrounded. The gaps between the fanatic groups were shrinking rapidly.
There was room to run out, and some of them did so. But running away alone just felt extremely wrong to them. They looked back and saw that most of their comrades were still stuck with the herd mentality and were unwilling to walk away from the herd.
There were no walls, but they acted like they had nowhere else to run to, like they were trapped.
All they had to do was avoid the fanatic groups and run through the gaps, just walk away from the herd. But they chose to stay and fight as though they had their backs against a wall.
Pitiable.
Alas, even those that had escaped were not safe as the High Killer and her minions had eyes on them. They had been waiting for those ones who would be bold enough to abandon the herd, they were the most dangerous.
Space shattered into fragments and those fragments gathered into tiny spatial needles that shot out through the air. Katari had struck.
Hundreds of zebras, buffalo, and wildebeests were instantly killed, their bodies pierced by the tiny spatial needles.
In a certain region beyond the Super Mega Herd, some of the herd creatures had discovered that no matter how fast they ran, they were not moving.
The distance between them and the edge of the herd remained the same. They looked down at their moving feet to see that they were indeed running and not imagining things, but to their horror, they were going nowhere.
On other sides of the grassy fields, hundreds of snakes had positioned themselves, hiding their serpentine bodies in the grass.
They struck at the escaping creatures, biting their hooves or anywhere that they could suck their fangs into.
Their job wasn't to fight them head-on, their job was to mark them, poison them, make it hard for them to escape without being tracked or dying on their road to freedom.
The escapees only felt light tingling or stabbing pains, but they didn't dare to slow down and find out what it was.
Kael's plan was successful, everything went almost according to plan. Now, it was time to reap the rewards, one of which was Conquering Essence…
