Reincarnated Debugger: The God-Tier Programmer in a Fantasy World

Chapter 25: Chapter 25: A Princess in Chains

After the meeting, Nova delivered a report to Kaito about Dravenheim. He explained that the kingdom was holding a gathering with its nobles regarding the sudden collapse of multiple dungeons. The nobles were in an uproar, unable to comprehend why such a disaster had occurred.

During the meeting, one noble arrogantly suggested a solution. "Why don't we demand that the new land near our borders, NeoNexus, hand over some of its territory and fix our dungeons? They stole our slaves by turning them into their citizens. As compensation, they should send us ninety percent of their mages to cover the damage we suffered."

The king of Dravenheim, entertained by the idea, smirked. "That's a wonderful idea. Send them an official notice with our demands."

Nova finished her report, looking at Kaito for his response. He simply chuckled and shook his head. "Reject their demands politely when the message reaches us. We'll also announce the dungeon situation tomorrow."

He leaned back in his chair and sighed. "Now then, shall we meet the princess?"

Before he could stand, Althea, Amelia, and Lilia, his three fiancées, stepped forward and blocked his way.

"We're coming with you," Amelia stated firmly.

Lilia crossed her arms. "There's no way we're letting you meet a foreign princess alone."

Althea simply nodded in agreement.

Kaito sighed but knew there was no point in arguing. "Fine, let's go."

The group walked down a dimly lit hallway before arriving at a secured room. Two robotic guards stood at the entrance, scanning their surroundings to ensure no escape attempts were made. Inside the room sat the Dravenheim princess, Princess Seraphina Dravenhardt. Her silver hair and piercing blue eyes gave her an air of nobility, but there was no arrogance in her demeanor. Instead, she sat quietly, waiting.

As Kaito and his fiancées entered, the guards stepped aside. Kaito took a seat across from Seraphina, his gaze calm yet piercing.

"Was the meal to your liking, Princess?" he asked casually.

Seraphina nodded, her expression softening. "I have never tasted food like this before. It is beyond anything I have ever eaten in Dravenheim."

Kaito smirked slightly. "I'm glad to hear that."

The food she received was high-quality and served four times a day, prepared and delivered by the automated systems of NeoNexus. It was a stark contrast to whatever she was used to in her homeland.

After a moment of silence, Kaito turned to Althea, Amelia, and Lilia. "What should we do with her?"

Amelia was the first to speak. "She is a princess of an enemy nation. We should use her to negotiate better terms."

Lilia shook her head. "No, they would rather sacrifice her than give us what we want. Dravenheim treats its royal members as tools."

Seraphina, who had been silent, lowered her gaze. It was clear she knew Lilia's words were true.

Althea looked directly at Seraphina. "What do you want, Princess? Do you wish to return to your homeland, knowing they might see you as disposable?"

Seraphina hesitated before answering, her voice steady but quiet. "I... do not wish to return to a place where I am nothing more than a bargaining chip. I was used as a slave, and yet here I am, a prisoner. Dravenheim will not welcome me back."

Kaito leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. "Then, what will you do?"

Seraphina took a deep breath. "If you would allow it... I wish to stay here. I am willing to serve NeoNexus in any way I can. I have knowledge of Dravenheim's military, its secrets, and its weaknesses."

Lilia raised an eyebrow. "You would betray your own country?"

Seraphina met her gaze without hesitation. "It is not my country. I was never valued there. I was merely a tool for my father's ambitions. Here, I have been treated better as a prisoner than I ever was as a princess."

Kaito considered her words carefully. Keeping Seraphina could provide them with valuable information, but it would also make Dravenheim view them as enemies beyond salvation. Then again, after their ridiculous demands, they already were.

Amelia glanced at Kaito. "What do you think?"

Kaito smirked. "I think we might have just gained a very useful ally."

Seraphina bowed her head. "Then, I am at your service."

Althea sighed. "We need to be careful. Dravenheim may still attempt something reckless to retrieve her, even if they don't truly care about her."

Lilia nodded. "We should increase security around her quarters."

Kaito stood up. "Alright then, for now, she stays. Nova will organize a place for her, and we'll decide her official status later."

Seraphina looked up at him, determination shining in her blue eyes. "Thank you."

As they exited the room, Kaito knew this decision would have consequences, but he was ready to face them.

And so, the princess of Dravenheim found herself in a new kingdom—not as a prisoner, but as someone who had chosen to turn her back on her past and forge a new future.
