Chapter 24: Chapter 24: The Dungeon Management Plan
The next day, Kaito sat in the meeting room of Neonexus Palace, discussing dungeon management with the Elf Guild Master and other key figures. The topic was crucial—the newly discovered dungeons and how they would be handled efficiently by both the Adventurer's Guild and Neonexus.
Kaito leaned forward, resting his arms on the table. "The dungeons will be an important part of the guild system. First, the rewards obtained inside can be sold directly to the guild, ensuring stable commerce. Second, each floor of a dungeon will have a designated resting spot—a safe zone where no monsters can enter, and adventurers cannot fight each other. This place will allow adventurers to recover stamina and heal minor injuries, but to prevent overuse, they'll need to purchase a Rest Pass from the guild."
The guild officials exchanged glances before the Elf Guild Master nodded. "A pass? How much are we talking about?"
"It will be affordable, around one big copper per day," Kaito explained. "This way, even lower-rank adventurers can benefit from it without financial strain."
The guild master stroked her chin thoughtfully. "And how many dungeons are there right now?"
"There are five dungeons in total for now. Each will be classified based on adventurer rank to ensure safety. Additionally, no adventurer will be allowed to enter a dungeon solo to avoid unnecessary casualties," Kaito added.
Murmurs of approval spread around the table.
"To further enhance safety," Kaito continued, "emergency buttons will be installed on each floor and along the passages of lower-rank dungeons. These will allow adventurers to request immediate assistance if they're in danger. However, as the rank of the dungeon increases, the number of emergency buttons will decrease. Higher-ranked adventurers should be prepared to handle the risks themselves."
After a moment of silence, the Elf Guild Master nodded. "That's a solid plan. It ensures both safety and efficiency. The guild has no problem purchasing and managing the materials obtained from dungeon rewards." She then leaned forward, eyes sharp. "But are you sure about allowing the guild to handle the dungeons?"
Kaito shrugged. "The guild won't have full control over the dungeons. They will remain under Neonexus's authority, but the guild will be responsible for management and operations. It's a mutual benefit arrangement."
The Guild Master smirked, clearly impressed by the well-thought-out strategy. "That's reassuring. The guild will take its role seriously."
Just as the discussion was concluding, one of the guild officials hesitantly brought up another concern. "There's something else, Lord Kaito… We received reports from Dravenheim—their dungeons have collapsed. It's causing an uproar, and we suspect they might blame Neonexus."
The room fell into a tense silence as the weight of those words sank in. Dravenheim was one of the neighboring nations, known for its reliance on dungeons to fuel its economy and military strength. A sudden collapse of their dungeons could create severe instability.
The Guild Master sighed. "If they hold Neonexus responsible, they might start a war with us."
Kaito, however, remained unfazed. He simply leaned back in his chair and said, "Let them."
His tone was calm but firm, showing zero concern over Dravenheim's potential hostility. "I have no issues with them," he added. "If they decide to act recklessly, that's their problem. Not ours."
The Guild Master hesitated but eventually nodded. "Very well. We will prepare for any possible confrontations, but for now, our focus remains on the dungeons."
With the dungeon management plan finalized and Dravenheim's possible aggression noted, the meeting concluded. Kaito had successfully laid the foundation for a new, structured dungeon system in Neonexus—one that would strengthen the guild, support adventurers, and bring prosperity to the kingdom.
