Chapter 47
“We’ve finally made it to the deepest part.”
A massive door stood before us.
“The boss is in here, right?” the mage asked for confirmation.
“Yes. According to the reconnaissance report from the clan, the boss is a [Diamond Golem],” the healer replied.
“A tough one specialized in physical defense, but we’ve taken one down before. That doesn’t mean we can let our guard down, though. Stay sharp, everyone.”
Thomas tightened the group’s focus with his words. As expected from a party daring to challenge a Rank IV dungeon, none of them showed any signs of carelessness even before he spoke.
“Erik, let’s stay back and watch from behind, okay?”
“…Understood.”
The healer smiled at me, and I returned it with my own.
“Alright! Once this is over, let’s hit the tavern!”
“The captain’s treating us? Hell yeah!”
“Same as always—drinking contest!”
With that, they charged forward, and I followed behind…
“Damn! This thing’s hard as hell!”
“We can’t break through head-on! Focus on the weak spots Captain damaged!”
“I’ll provide support with wind magic!”
“Snipe Shooting!!”
Thomas swung his mace, while the female and male warriors slashed at its sides. The mage supported with wind magic, but since her primary affinity was water, the spell’s effectiveness was somewhat lacking.
Meanwhile, the archer’s arrows continued to strike true, slipping through the gaps between allies and hitting the Diamond Golem precisely where it hurt.
“If your support magic is about to wear off, fall back!”
The healer, standing next to me, was busy keeping up with recovery and buff spells.
(To be honest… this is kind of boring.)
I voiced my thoughts to Eve.
[It can’t be helped. It would be strange if Master suddenly joined the fight.]
She had a point. I was only here as a porter, so stepping in now would be questionable. If they were truly in danger, I would prioritize saving lives, but Thomas and the others were holding their own.
They clearly had experience fighting this creature before. By focusing their attacks on a single weak point, they had already destroyed both of its arms. Though they were getting tired, it was clear they weren’t going to lose.
(Still, I really wanted to test it out…)
I had been curious about just how far I could send the Diamond Golem flying if I smacked it with my log. Even if not that, it was my first time seeing this monster—I wanted a chance to fight it myself.
[It’s a shame you can’t use the blessing from the temple here.]
(…Yeah. I’m curious about the result, too.)
Early this morning, before everyone woke up, I had returned to my room and prayed at the [Temple]. The blessing I received was…
Power increased by 200% x2
[It’s surprising that they can stack, isn’t it?]
As Eve pointed out, right now, I was a walking hazard. This was exactly why I wanted to test my strength against the golem, but a support role should stay in the background until the end.
So, while feeling restless, I continued watching the battle unfold…
“Alright! The boss is down!”
With a final strike, the golem collapsed and began to disintegrate.
Thomas raised his mace in triumph.
“We got a [Diamond Sword]!”
Just as the female warrior pointed out, a beautifully shining sword had dropped alongside the magic core from the fallen golem.
As its name suggested, it was likely made of diamond.
Dungeon bosses often dropped rare items, most of which were high-value magic equipment. This meant that their dungeon run had practically guaranteed them a huge profit.
“Is everyone alright?”
Now that the battle had ended, the healer rushed to tend to the party’s wounds. There hadn’t been enough time for full healing during the fight, and Thomas, who had collapsed onto the ground, seemed to have sustained a fair amount of injuries.
All that remained was to use the teleporter at the back of the room and head home—there was no need to rush.
As I watched them, feeling relieved—
“Drop your weapons, all of you!”
Before we knew it, around ten men with villainous faces stood behind us.
