Chapter 6: Chapter 6: be reborn
As time went on, I continued to grow. My horns, which at first seemed a bit strange, now appeared more defined. They no longer grew any longer, but had curled up like a goat's. Will this be a fashion in the future? Like the demi-humans in anime, perhaps. I can imagine people doing research just to achieve those features. Maybe it's even a common thing, a normal thing in this strange world.
What struck me most, however, was that there was no room for me to move anymore. My growth seemed to have come to an end. The cocoon or egg I was in was squeezing me, as if I had stopped being necessary for it. Everything was ready for me to come out, but many questions assailed me. Do I have to come out myself, like from an egg? Or is this some kind of cabin that will open by itself when the time comes? What will I do if I'm not able to get out?
I decided I wasn't going to wait. What's the worst that could happen? I tried to tear the material covering me, something that, although it seemed like a challenge, I chose to face anyway. At first I had no grip, but then I remembered my horns. Is that what they're for? I didn't have much to lose, so I used them, pushing against the structure surrounding me.
To my surprise, it was much easier than I thought. The material broke without much resistance. The sensation was strange, as if I had released an internal pressure I didn't know I had. Now, with the path open, all that was left was to get out. What awaited me outside? I had no idea, but something inside me told me I couldn't wait any longer.
With the release of my cocoon, I felt more alive than ever. Whatever awaited me outside, I now had the chance to face it.
