Reincarnating as a demon in sousou no frieren

The feeling of freedom was short-lived. As I emerged from the cocoon and looked around, I realized I wasn't in what I had thought. Is this a cave? Why would I be in a cave? And the marks on the walls... they looked like they were made by someone or something. It was obvious that this place wasn't natural. Could it be that I'm not in the future like I believed? Maybe I wasn't in the future after all, but in an isekai, reincarnated as some kind of demi-human. How did I not think of that before? The trope is so popular, and here I was thinking I was in an advanced future. What a disappointment. 

Well, there was no turning back now. Now I had to get out of this hole. Looking around, I realized that the cave was more artificial than I had thought. Do demi-humans make nests in dug holes? Is that the way they live? My questions remained unanswered, but I couldn't just sit there waiting. I decided to explore the cave.

As I walked, I noticed a light at the end of the tunnel. Stepping out, what I found left me even more baffled: I was on the side of a mountain. The view was wide, but my parents were nowhere in sight, nor was anyone else. With my enhanced senses, I couldn't smell anything coming from the cave. Could it be that demi-humans are solitary? But in anime, demi-humans live in groups, like humans. What was going on?

A growl interrupted my thoughts. My stomach. Am I hungry? Sure, I was just born; it makes sense. But what can I eat? I looked around. Grass? I had no idea if it was edible, but my horns resembled a goat's, and goats are herbivores. What could I lose?

I tried some grass, and while it wasn't delicious, something inside me told me it wasn't very nutritious. Instincts? I didn't know I would have such strong instincts. Is this common for demi-humans? Would all demi-humans be like this? But there wasn't much time for questions. At least I had something to fill the void in my stomach.

As I chewed on the grass, I wondered if there were any predators around. Would it be dangerous to go out? The sun was starting to set, and I wasn't sure what I would find in the nearby forest. I decided it would be best to wait. That would be enough exploring for today.
