Reincarnation In Smallville

Chapter 78: Plans for Revenge [78]

Motel

Desirée gripped the edge of the sink tightly, her fingers digging into the cold ceramic. The mirror in front of her reflected not just her bruised face but also the uncontrollable rage simmering in her eyes. Her lips were swollen, and the absence of two front teeth transformed her expression into something grotesque.

"This... this can't be happening!" she screamed, her voice echoing through the small, damp bathroom. "How dare that woman do this to me?"

She leaned closer to the mirror, examining the gap in her mouth with a mix of horror and indignation. The throbbing pain in her lips was nothing compared to the hatred consuming her chest.

"I'll destroy her. I'll ruin everything she holds dear!" she muttered in a low, venomous tone. She ran a trembling hand over her face, trying to calm herself, but the reflection in the mirror only fueled her fury.

She grabbed the glass on the sink and hurled it against the wall. The sound of shattering glass echoed in the room but did nothing to soothe her frustration.

"You think you can humiliate me, Diana? You think you can make me look like a fool in front of everyone?" Desirée shouted, pacing back and forth in the narrow bathroom. "You'll pay dearly for this. No matter what I have to do, I'll make sure you regret it!"

She turned the faucet on full blast, splashing cold water onto her face in an attempt to calm her thoughts. But every time she closed her eyes, the image of Diana's punch and the muffled laughter of some onlookers at the Talon replayed in her mind.

"They'll all pay," she said, her teeth grinding in anger. "Clark, Diana, even that idiot Lana. They think they're better than me? Let's see what happens when everything they love is destroyed."

Desirée grabbed a towel, roughly drying her face. Her eyes locked on the mirror again, this time filled with dark determination.

"I lost more than teeth today," she whispered, her voice dripping with bitterness. "I lost my dignity, my power. But I'll get it all back, and I'll do it my way."

She stormed out of the bathroom, her footsteps firm. Desirée pulled out her phone and dialed a number with trembling but resolute fingers. Nathan Dean's name flashed on the screen before she hit the call button.

Metropolis – Sterling Jewelers

The full moon shone brightly over Metropolis, illuminating the quiet downtown streets. Inside Sterling Jewelers, Nathan Dean moved like a shadow. He wore black gloves and a hood pulled low over his head, avoiding any trace of light. His gaze locked on the display cases filled with diamonds and rubies, their glittering reflections dancing in the dim light.

CRACK!

The subtle sound of glass being cut echoed as Nathan used a portable laser cutter to open the main display case. He glanced around, ensuring the motion sensors remained deactivated thanks to the device he'd planted minutes earlier.

"Finally, something easy," Nathan murmured, sliding the jewels into a black bag. "Metropolis is always so busy, but these stores... always vulnerable."

CLANK!

A noise from the back door made him freeze. He quickly looked toward the sound, his eyes narrowing. "Damn... I thought I disabled everything. Silent alarm?"

He hid behind a pillar as the door slowly creaked open. Two armed guards entered, their flashlights scanning the dark hallways.

"Anyone in here?" one guard called out, his voice echoing through the store. "Don't make this harder on yourself!"

Nathan clenched his teeth, quickly assessing the situation. He knew he had to act fast. Without hesitation, he activated his power, releasing a sonic scream that reverberated through the room.

BOOOOOOOOOM!

The store's lights flickered uncontrollably as the deafening sound shattered lamps and display cases. The guards fell to the floor, clutching their ears and screaming in pain. Glass shattered everywhere, scattering across the floor like tiny fallen stars.

Nathan smirked as he saw the guards incapacitated. "So predictable."

Adjusting the strap of the bag full of jewels, he began walking toward the exit, stepping over the unconscious men without a second glance.

TRIIIIM!

The sharp ring of his phone vibrated in his pocket, interrupting his stride. Nathan frowned, pulling the device out while continuing to move. Desirée's name flashed on the screen.

"Desirée?" he answered, his tone laced with surprise. "It's been months since you called. What do you want?"

"You're going to listen to me, Nathan," Desirée hissed, her voice dripping with rage. "I need your help. I was humiliated. I need someone I can trust to settle the score."

Nathan scoffed, pausing at the store's exit as he glanced at the empty street. "You? Trust me? That's new. What happened to the woman who always said she didn't need anyone?"

"That was before everything went to hell!" Desirée yelled, her voice shaking with frustration. "I lost everything, Nathan. My dignity, my power... even my teeth!"

Nathan raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You lost your teeth? What the hell happened to you?"

"A woman named Diana," Desirée replied, her voice filled with venom. "She attacked me in the middle of a café, in front of everyone. And Clark... her precious boyfriend, he has to suffer too, along with everyone who wronged me!"

Nathan sighed, leaning against the wall as he ran a hand through his hair. "You're always getting yourself into trouble, aren't you? Why should I get involved in this?"

"Because I know you want revenge as much as I do," Desirée said, her tone now more calculated. "You've always hated people like them. People who think they're better than us."

Nathan was silent for a moment, his thoughts racing as he glanced at the bag of jewels in his hand. "You're right about that. And I know that when you want something, you'll do whatever it takes to get it. Where are you?"

"Smallville," she replied quickly. "I'll send you my location. I need you here as soon as possible."

Nathan stared out at Metropolis's skyline, the city lights blinking like a modern constellation. He let out a long sigh before answering. "I'm on my way. But you'd better have a plan, Desirée. I'm not interested in wasting my time."

"Don't worry," she said with a dark smile. "I have something in mind that will make Clark and Diana regret crossing me."

Nathan hung up and walked toward his motorcycle parked on the corner. He put on his helmet, the engine roaring to life as he sped out of the city, leaving behind shattered glass and the faint echoes of the guards' cries.

"Smallville," he murmured, a crooked smile forming on his lips. "Things are about to get interesting."

Talon – Night

Lana sat at one of the Talon's tables, the dim light casting a glow on her face as she spoke on the phone. The doors were locked, the day's hustle finally over, but Lana's mind was still racing. On the other end, Chloe listened attentively as Lana vented.

"Chloe, you have no idea what happened today. It was complete chaos," Lana said, her voice tinged with irritation. "Clark's new girlfriend, this Diana, just punched Desirée in the middle of the café. In front of everyone!"

"Diana? She's really that impulsive?" Chloe asked, surprised. "I've heard a few things about her, but I didn't think she'd be so... extreme."

"Extreme doesn't even begin to describe it," Lana retorted, crossing her arms as she gazed out the window. "She acted like she's above everything, like violence solves everything. Smallville isn't the place for that kind of behavior."

"You sound really bothered by this, Lana," Chloe observed cautiously. "I mean, she's Clark's girlfriend, not yours. Why does this bother you so much?"

"It doesn't bother me," Lana quickly replied, avoiding Chloe's pointed question. "I just... don't want Clark to get involved with someone who'll bring trouble. He deserves someone who understands him and isn't a public menace."

Chloe laughed softly on the other end. "Lana, you're sounding like a jealous ex. And I'm the one who should be jealous, right?"

"This isn't about jealousy, Chloe," Lana insisted, her voice rising slightly. "I just think Clark is getting himself into something he doesn't understand. Diana may be beautiful and strong, but that doesn't mean she's good for him."

"Or maybe you're judging too quickly," Chloe suggested, her tone turning serious. "You said yourself you don't know Diana. Why not give her a chance before jumping to conclusions?"

"Because I saw how she acts," Lana pressed. "She's not right for him. Someone like that will only complicate his life."

"Or maybe she's exactly what he needs," Chloe countered, her voice firm now. "Look, Lana, I understand your concern, but I'll decide for myself what to think about Diana. I want to meet her before drawing any conclusions."

"You're really going to do that?" Lana asked incredulously. "Even after everything I've told you?"

"Yes," Chloe replied firmly. "I trust Clark, and if he chose Diana, there must be something special about her. I want to see it for myself."

Lana was silent for a moment, gripping her phone tightly. Finally, she sighed. "Fine, Chloe. But be careful. I just hope you don't end up disappointed."

"Thanks for the warning," Chloe said with a hint of irony.

Lana ended the call, placing her phone on the table as she stared into the empty café. Her thoughts were a mess, and frustration still burned in her chest.

"Clark, what were you thinking?" Lana murmured to herself before standing up to begin rearranging the chairs in the café.

Despite her concerns about Clark and Diana, Lana knew there was little she could do for now. But something told her this story was far from over.
