Chapter 6: The Urge To Get Killed
"Wow! This is... unbelievable..." The Healer said in shock, as she examined Eric.
She had a very focused expression as she examined him carefully, slowly moving her glowing hand all over his body.
Seeing the lady's glowing hand made Eric curious about the magic of this world. This was his first time seeing magic as a person and it increased his curiosity.
He couldn't get much information on it from the books in the library. But from the little he read, magic in this world is based on talent, affinity towards an element and individual understanding or knowledge.
For one to be able to do magic, they must have a talent for it. Then a natural affinity to an element. Then the rest would depend on their own understanding about it. With all three, they can learn already existing spells or create theirs.
And out of these three, talent is the most crucial. Because without it, a person simply can't use magic. Even if one has an affinity to an element, they still won't be able to use magic.
As for elements? They are divided into three categories; common, uncommon and rare.
Fire, water, earth and wind belongs to the common category.
For the uncommon category, it's ice, lightning, metal and wood.
For elements in the rare category, they are light, gravity and darkness, spirit.
Then there's a fourth category—the legendary category. Not much is known about this category but it's said that elements here are even rarer than those in the rare category.
According to the information he got from the books, only two are known; time and space.
And those that have an affinity to these elements are so rare that whenever they appear, they will be treated like national treasure.
As for those that have elemental affinities? There are single element affinity, double—which is rare, and there's three elements affinities. This is just as rare as those with affinity to elements in the legendary category.
With a talent and an affinity to an element, one can start learning spells. This is where knowledge or one's understanding of magic comes in.
There's not much to explain here. Anyone with the two aforementioned criterias can learn as many spells as they want but it all depends on their understanding of both magic and the elements they have an affinity to.
Eric was curious about the type of magic the Healer lady was using but he couldn't just directly ask her.
'Maybe I can use my Absolute Analysis skill,' he thought to himself.
This also reminded him that he hasn't checked the details about his two skills and what they can do.
He thought about it and decided to use Absolute Analysis on the lady.
The next moment, what seems like her status window appeared in front of him.

'Wow! She has so many skills,' Eric thought to himself, as he viewed her status window.
It made him want to check Alice's but he decided to put it off for later.
Evelyne was already done with the checkup and Eric had been able to identify the skill she was using during it.
"Young Master Eric, I've checked your body thoroughly and I can't find the poison anywhere in your system. It's completely gone," Evelyne smiled.
"Thank you," Eric said with a polite smile, as he got up into a sitting position on the bed.
"You don't have to thank me. I didn't do anything. Even though I did my best to heal you, it didn't mean my much against a poison like Silent Requiem. Not even a potion made with Duskleaf have the ability to stop such a poison. I'm truly surprised that you're alive," Evelyne said with a curious and puzzled expression.
Eric said nothing but smiled. She was right. The poison was very potent and it has killed the original Eric. But he couldn't tell her that.
Evelyne smiled back and turned to Alice. Since she was done with what she came here for, it was time to get her payment and take her leave.
"Please come with me, Miss Evelyne," Alice said, leading her out of the room.
Finally alone, Eric exhaled and turned his attention to something strange he has noticed when he checked Evelyne's status window.
He immediately summoned the system screen to confirm.

"It's just as I thought. There's no affinity tab," he muttered. "System, why is this?"
[The affinity tab wasn't added because you currently have no affinity to any element. Host doesn't need to worry as he can also receive elemental affinity as rewards.]
"Ohhh... That's good to hear," Eric smiled.
Hearing this also made him all the more enthusiastic to test the system out.
Growwl
His stomach grumbled, reminding him of it's empty state.
"I wonder if there's anything to eat around here?" He said as he stood up from the bed and walked to the door.
He was about to open it when someone else it and it was Alice.
"Young Master, where are you going? You need to rest fully. You just woke up from a near death experience. Please don't push yourself too much," she said with the familiar worried expression on her face.
"I won't. I'm just hungry," Eric said.
Alice's eyes widened when Eric said this, as if remembering something.
"Please give me a few minutes. Food will be ready soon," she said and immediately rushed off down the hallway, and branched off somewhere.
Eric smiled and shook his head. He was actually curious about Alice. From what he can see, the Stormrider House had fallen to a point where any possibility of it ever rising again was long gone.
From the looks of it and based on the state of the library, nearly everything of value had been sold off for one reason or another.
Also, with a mansion as big as this, it must had had lots of staffs but they had all left, except for Alice.
Eric didn't inherit the memories of the original Eric, so he has no idea what his relationship with her was like. But from what he has seen so far, she cares about him and there's also the vague sense of familiarity he has towards her.
But he intend to be cautious around her for the mean time as she's technical a stranger to him.
Though he wouldn't mind if she has any hostility towards him and kills him, but he doubts it.
"Ughh... Who knew that I will wishing to get killed so much. System, this is all your fault," he sighed.
[...]
Eric decided to continue what he was doing before Alice came. He walked back to library. He intends to gather as much information as he can about this world because he will starting his adventures soon.
