Rise of the Rejected Deity from Chaos

Chapter 199: A Duel with their Lord—Seiya?

Inside the village, the villagers had all come out for Seiya's abrupt visit. They had never seen him come alone as he was always there with Kaeliyus.

The moment Seiya had walked into the barrier, most of the villagers that were outside working on one or two things immediately ran to him to welcome him.

Seiya, however, didn't say much and took down the barrier, which surprised the villagers, but they didn't question him at all.

Instead, when they saw him taking down the barrier, they all walked back, gathering and standing in front of their homes, waiting to see why Seiya had come, and why he had brought along the association.

As the commander saw the villagers awaiting them from afar, he briefly hesitated, his steps feeling too heavy to advance any further.

However, seeing Seiya nonchalantly head toward the villagers, the commander and his people followed.

As soon as Seiya and the association reached where the villagers gathered, they all came forward. At first, the commander thought they had simply stepped forward to welcome them.

However, the villagers stepped toward Seiya, lowering themselves in front of him in a bowing position—including the elders.

"We welcome you my Lord," they chorused, warm smiles on their faces.

Not only did this act of theirs surprised the commander and his people, it got them all staring with awe—speechless.

Even if Seiya was the one who saved and earned them their freedom, why were they revering him with such respect? Even calling him Lord. The elders even bowed before him.

"To think the Lord will visit us again, we are honored."

"Since the Lord always visits with sir Kaeliyus, we were a bit surprised to see you alone."

"But my Lord, why have you come along with these people?" One of the elders asked, referring to the commander and his people whom they haven't acknowledged ever since they arrived.

Seiya looked to the commander, silently hinting at him to speak about the reason they were there.

The commander got the hint right away, stepping forward to address the villagers. First, he introduced himself. As the general overseer of the association, he was due to a generous amount of respect.

But after introducing himself, the villagers' attitude toward them still didn't change. They welcomed them with awkward greetings, and tense expressions.

The commander knew the villagers still held some sort of grudge against them for not saving them early enough. And for that, he had silently vowed to gain back their trust, and try his possible best to help them with whatever they needed.

Rather than focusing and questioning Seiya's relationship with the villagers, the commander turned his attention to the villagers.

"We came here today to deliver all the necessities you've demanded of the association," the commander began softly. "It's currently on the way here since it's being transported by a van."

"Ah, we are very grateful to the association for heeding our demands," one of the elders bowed in gratitude.

"No, there's no need for this," the commander said, urging the elder to rise. "Since we weren't able to help take back your freedom, this is the least we can do."

"We are actually happy that you're all still willing to take anything from us. Thank you, and we are very sorry that you all had to go through so much, and that we weren't able to help in any way."

The commander bowed, eliciting a chorus of soft gasps from the Humanity Saviors that had followed him. They couldn't believe their commander—the one who stood at the pinnacle of the association was bowing before some mere villagers.

However, seeing their leader in that position, showing his regrets, they couldn't let him bear the burden alone. So, the Humanity Saviors, including the commander's assistant—everyone that had tagged along, lowered themselves before the villagers—joining their commander in apologizing.

The villagers all exchanged awkward glances among themselves, a bit surprised a leader that big would bow before them. But it helped wear off the tension in the atmosphere, softening the villager's view of them.

"It's all good, all good," a female elder said. "We can only be grateful that our Lord came to our rescue, and that we are alive today because of him."

The commander slowly rose, his companions following his move.

"We are also grateful for that," he said. " But we don't want you seeing us any different. The association has always been for the people, and will still continue to be. We'll try our very best to not disappoint you again."

The villagers smiled, nodding to the commander's assurance. But before anything could proceed any further, one of the Humanity Saviors—a captain—stepped forward.

"I apologize, but I'm finding it hard to understand this," he voiced. "Are you saying this boy here was the one who saved the village?" He asked, looking from the villagers to Seiya and back.

"Young man, you shouldn't address our Lord so casually and disrespectfully," one of the villagers shunned—a tall looking man. "But yes, he is the one who freed us from the demons and gave us salvation."

The captain looked back to Seiya, his eyes scrutinizing him, his disbelief mirroring the disbelief etched on the faces of the other Humanity Saviors.

The man attempted to further voice his disbelief, but the captain was quick to cut in.

"It is well known by everyone here that he is…" he began, looking to Seiya. "…the one who saved the villagers and freed them," he said.

Murmurs rose among the Humanity Saviors, their doubts and disbelief being evidently carried in their whispers.

At this, the villagers felt offended on Seiya's behalf—feeling their Lord was being denied the respect he was due.

"How can the association who had abandoned us be the same one refusing to acknowledge the person who did their job?" A young girl from the village stepped forward. The same one who had initiated a brief conversation with Seiya the last time he was there.

"It's honestly unsightly, and shameful," she remarked.

"You doubt him because he looks young and small. But I bet none of you here can handle any of the demons he killed," she spat, scrutinizing the Humanity Saviors with spite.

Angered by her words, another Humanity Savior stepped out, countering her words. "How can you say that? Daring to judge our ranks when you clearly see not only captains here but also the commander."

"Oh?" The girl turned swiftly to the Humanity Savior, a smirk playing on her lips.

"Wanna have a duel with our Lord then?" She smiled broadly.
