Chapter 208: How Many Against One? Seiya’s Defeat?
Peering down intently at Denga, Seiya was calm and composed. To others it seemed like he was weighing Denga's worth—contemplating whether to listen to his plea.
But in truth, he was simply calculating the best move to destroy Denga's five remaining hearts. The humanity saviors has managed to rid dnega of two hearts, hence leaving him with five.
If not for them coming together to fight him, Denga wouldn't have been the one begging for his life right there.
"Whether I spare you a million times over, you'd never be able to put up a fight worthy enough to entertain me," Seiya stated coldly.
"Just spare me this once, I promise I'll do whatever you want. I'll even become your lackey," Denga continued with his shameless pleas to save his life.
Hearing how desperate he sounded, and what he was already to do just to have his life spared, the Humanity Saviors saw benefit in him.
Amongst themselves—the captains and the other Humanity Saviors, excluding the commander—all gathered up.
Whispers rose in their midst as it seemed like they were discussing something. After a while, there was a collective nod as if they had all agreed on something.
Disbanding from the gather up they'd been, they turned to Seiya who still had his leg trapping Denga beneath him.
Seiya looked as though he was enjoying Denga's pleas. As if they were music to his ears. Because he did nothing other than allow Denga shamelessly rant on, begging.
Closing up to Seiya a bit, the captain with the long hair tied behind him spoke, addressing Denga.
"Are you saying you're ready to do anything as long as you're spared?" He asked, tearing Denga's gaze from Seiya toward him.
For a brief moment, Denga's eyes shone wide in surprise before gleaming with hope—for his pleas had finally intrigued someone.
"Yes, yes," he answered desperately, nodding frantically. "I'll do anything."
Although Denga's ability had only been bound to never work against the Humanity Saviors, he couldn't use it against Seiya because he knew well enough that Seiya could always counter it, and put him in his place.
Back then, he had thought Seiya's powers came from his weapons—The Sword of Severance and the Staff of Catastrophe. But now he knows, Seiya was just that strong.
If anything, the weapons were merely contributing to his capabilities.
"Anything you say. Are you ready to work under the association then?" The captain asked.
From the distance, the comamnder's lips creased with tension, his brow twitching in disbelief. "What are they doing?" He sighed in exasperation, a bit fed up with his people.
Denga was taken aback for a moment since that wasn't exactly what he was expecting. But if that would guarantee his safety, then why not?
To him, it was better to save his life with any means possible at the moment, and leave revenge for a later cause when he's ready.
"Sure! I can be a servant to the association if that be needed of me. Just say the word!" Denga grinned, seeing the string that sealed his fate unravel.
"Are you sure about that? Don't think of playing any tricks else you won't live to see another minute of the day."
"I might be a coward as my friend here terms it," Denga chuckled, referring to Seiya. "But I'm a demon who always keep to his words."
"Me being under you will prove advantageous. As you've seen, my ability is quite capable. So c'mon captain, spare me already. It's a win-win for us both. I get my life, and you get my service."
"Consider it a deal then," the captain approved, broadening Denga's grin than it already was.
Turning his gaze to Seiya, the captain began softly. "Oi, young boy. Do you mind taking your foo—"
STOMP!!
The captain hadn't even finished talking when Seiya's leg left Denga's chest, giving him a brief respite before it came crashing back down with the force of a boulder.
Blood splattered about as the impact crushed Denga's chest, caving it in. It shattered his flesh and bones as it found its way to his hearts—crushing three under its boulder-like weight.
The captain's words fell back in his throat, his eyes widening in shock and horror—mirroring Denga's expression—blood spluttering from his mouth the next minute.
Low gasps rippled from the Humanity Saviors, the commander included. Their eyes bore shock, their thoughts of Seiya turning more complicated.
"What are you doing?!" The captain asked, his face tight with anger and irritation at Seiya. But before he could even do anything more, Seiya lifted his foot once again, aiming to crush Denga's' two remaining hearts.
In a desperate attempt to save himself, Denga attempted to call over Seiya's heart. But…..without losing his cool, or even budging from where he stood, Seiya instantly crashed his foot down on Denga's face—crushing his features to a pulp.
Then, without a single moment's hesitation, he stomped down on Denga's remaining hearts with a crushing force, destroying them.
The shock on the Humanity Saviors' faces only grew worse, their faces pale with dread.
"This bas—" The captain restrained himself from cursing at Seiya, his anger boiling over. He launched forward, his sword drawn and ready to cut down Seiya for acting out of line.
But before he could close the distance, the comamnder's stern voice rang out an order. "Halt!"
The captain immediately ceased his flight, his face taut with rage as he turned swiftly toward the commander, demanding the reason he was stopped.
"It can't be helped," the comamnder began softly, advancing toward them. "What's done is done already. Let's not beat ourselves over it."
Despite this coming from the commander, the Humanity Saviors' dissatisfaction couldn't be quelled.
To them, Seiya acted out of line, and he should be punished for it. How dare he kill someone they wanted to make use of? Just what was making him so confident? He irked them.
"Let's not forget the real reason we're here. And most of all, let's not forget we are all on the same team."
Are we?!!! The humanity saviors chorused in their minds.
The commander smiled brightly, his expression soft as he turned to face Seiya—hinting that he wasn't upset with him and he shouldn't escalate things any further.
"Tsk! Let's restore our expended energy," the captain said.
The humanity saviors gathered up once again—this time—in front of a male Humanity Savior who had the ability to alleviate accumulated fatigue and restore energy.
He had been on the sidelines, watching from beside the commander as he wasn't part of the attack team. His job only came after the battle.
Striding toward Seiya with a big smile on his face, the commander waved warmly at him.
"We'll have my men clear up this mess. In the meantime, why don't you put down the barrier, and let us talk with the villagers?"
Seiya regarded him in cold silence, seeing no need to waste words. The man was either grinning like a fool or acting with unwarranted familiarity—both of which grated on Seiya for reasons he chose not to examine. Regardless, his options were limited.
Without stepping out of the bloodied corpse of Denga beneath his foot, Seiya opened his palm, calling to his barrier within him.
Instantly, the barrier shriveled back into the handkerchief, revealing the villagers. The commander's eyes shone with admiration and intrigue as the handkerchief went into Seiya's hand.
In fact, at that moment, it was the only thing he was interested in, but the villagers stepping forward divided his attention.
He turned toward them, deciding to leave any talk about the barrier for later. As the villagers stepped out, the teenage girl who had earlier proposed a duel between a Humanity Savior and Seiya, scanned the whole grounds, her gaze darting from the carnage toward the Humanity Saviors receiving some sort of healing.
Her expressions slowly contorted into disgust, then irritation. And finally, disappointment bloomed across her features.
"Tsk!" She clicked her tongue with such disdain it got everyone's attention. "To struggle so much with three mere demons and some monsters when there's this many of you. This is why my Lord killed that girl."
A heavy silence fell upon the village, a storm of tense shock gathering in the atmosphere and casting darkness over the grounds.
Her words, or rather, her revelation had come as a big surprise to not only the Humanity Saviors but even the villagers.
The male captain who had earlier wanted to cut Seiya down turned swiftly with rage, his bloodlust coiling the air with a suffocating darkness.
"Did she just admit to him killing one of us?!" He grinded his teeth, veins bulging along his jaw.
Pure rage and bloodlust for revenge surged through each and every Humanity Savior, their eyes burning ablaze. As the last of them got healed, they all launched forward, encircling Seiya.
"An eye for an eye. You shall live no longer than this moment!"
"Agh!" The commander breathed once more in distress, tired from the occurring events.
Another fight breaking out after just finishing one isn't exactly what he wanted. But then again, it was a good opportunity to see Seiya's true capabilities.
It can't be denied that Seiya is strong. But can he fight against several Humanity Saviors all at once? No matter how one looked at it, Seiya's defeat was inevitable—according to the commander that is.
Alright then. I'll allow this fight. If he dies, I can just resurrect him since I'm capable of doing it at least once, half a year.
