Chapter 19: Hidden Dungeon
Magnus slowly opens his eyes like a newborn, murmuring as his vision clears. "I... I've been reincarnated?" he thought, looking at the sky.
As his surroundings come into focus, he sees towering icebergs all around him. His eyes widen in shock. "What the hell is this? I didn't know I was reincarnated into a snow-covered land!" Magnus shouts, unable to believe what he sees.
Before he could continue rambling, Ares punched him on the head. "Just shut the hell up!" he snaps, standing beside Magnus while holding a large jacket. He tosses it over to him. "Take this. You could catch a cold.
Magnus feels a warm sense of care when Ares gives him the jacket. Tears of joy well up in his eyes, and he quickly slips into the warm jacket. "Whoa, brother, I know you care about me," he says, feeling relief from the cold. Then, another question pops into his head. "By the way, brother, where did you get this jacket, and where are we?".
"I just bought it from my system, and I don't know where we are either," Ares replies, rolling his eyes as he scans their surroundings, trying to figure out their location. Magnus feels amazed—this is the first time he has seen a hunter with storage in their system.
"But most likely, this is..." Ares had one thought in his mind. "This is a hidden dungeon, and I expect the monsters here to be serious trouble," he added.
The Hidden Dungeon was a mysterious place filled with rare treasures, dangerous monsters, and ancient secrets waiting to be uncovered. Only the strongest or luckiest adventurers could survive its depths, as its ever-changing structure made it nearly impossible to map. Some said the dungeon itself was alive, watching those who entered, deciding whether they were worthy of its greatest rewards—or doomed to be lost forever. This could only happen once in a lifetime, and no one knew when it would show up.
After hearing this, Magnus's eyes widen, and his body trembles in fear. "W-We're in serious trouble?!" he stammers, terrified and confused about what will happen to them.
"Yes, not only that, but we're lucky if we just die. Some monsters torture their enemies like they're food," Ares replies seriously, his cold glare locking onto Magnus's face, though some of his tone is teasing, aiming to scare Magnus even more. A fearful look crosses Magnus's face, but Ares isn't done yet.
He lowered his tone, making his voice even more terrifying. "And if you don't pull yourself together... you won't last a second in here."
Magnus gulps, swallowing hard, his body trembling even more. His face starts to sweat from the tension.
"Damn it, how unlucky am I today? First, we were betrayed, then we encountered a higher-level boss in the dungeon, and now we're in some unknown place!" Magnus complains, frustration evident in his voice.
"If I had known this was going to happen, I would've just stayed home, sat back, and relaxed while watching Netflix," he added, still whining about their situation.
As he murmured, complaining about the situation, he noticed the footsteps starting to walk away from him. When he focused in front of him, he saw Ares walking ahead, already a good distance away.
"Hey, hey, brother, wait for me! I don't want to be alone in this place, brother!" Magnus called out, raising his hands as he hurried to catch up to Ares.
As they walked, Ares checked his system screen, hoping to find a clue about their location.
"Do you know anything about this place?" Ares asked his system.
Ares's eyes widened after seeing this information. He didn't know much about the Elemental Gods. "Elemental gods?" Ares repeated, throwing another question.
Just as he was about to ask another question, he suddenly heard the clash of swords from about 30 meters away.
Magnus and Ares quickly ran toward the source of the noise, but the frozen ground made it difficult to move fast. One wrong step, and they could slip. As they got closer, about 10 meters away, they finally saw the source of the noise—a group of people fighting against five unknown monsters. But the monsters were overwhelming them with each attack, and someone was being sent flying backward.
Ares and Magnus immediately locked eyes on the creatures, carefully analyzing them. As they looked more closely, they saw these monsters were icy beasts, each around level 15. and Narrowing their eyes as they observed them more closely, their eyes widened when they identified them as Frostbears—massive creatures standing five meters tall, their fur made of hardened ice that glistened like shards of glass under the dim light.
Their bodies were muscular, built for strength, with razor-sharp icy claws capable of shredding through armor and bone. Their piercing eyes glowed through the freezing mist that constantly surrounded their maws, revealing rows of icicle-like teeth.
While Ares remained focused on analyzing the monsters, Magnus's expression twisted in disgust. Ares noticed and asked, "What are you looking at?"
Magnus clenched his fists and muttered, "Those bastards… they're still alive after what they did to us." His face turned as red as a tomato, filled with anger, and he prayed for them to be dead.
Following Magnus's gaze, Ares shifted his attention to the hunters battling the Frostbears. His eyes narrowed as he recognized them. "Oh, I see," he murmured, smirking. "It's Dong Seok's party.
"They've been moved to this place too, huh? Not only that, they've encountered a monster." Ares thought.
Before Magnus could make a sound, Ares swiftly grabbed his shoulder and covered his mouth to stop him from making any noise.
"Don't call out to them. They might hear us. We'll just watch them in this area," Ares said, grinning. He had no intention of helping them. Instead, he planned to watch and see just how strong the monsters were against them.
As they observed them, Dong Seok and his team started struggling against the Frostbears. They were beginning to lose stamina, and after that, they quickly formed a defensive formation, attacking the creatures from the sides while defending.
"Damn it! Why are these monsters so tough? They're only level 15, but their strength is on another level!" Dong Seok growled, gritting his teeth in frustration as he struggled to block Frostbear's attacks.
While he was focused on struggling with one Frostbear, another attack suddenly lunged at him from the side—his blind spot.
"Boss, watch out!" Conan, one of his teammates, shouted. Reacting just in time, he swung his sword, deflecting the Frostbear's claw.
"Boss, be careful! One mistake and these monsters will tear us apart!" Conan warned, his face tense with struggle as he kept a firm grip on his weapon, struggling to breathe as his heart raced with exhaustion.
As the battle continued, Ares shifted his gaze to his system screen. He needed to decide where to allocate his unassigned points, ensuring he would have the best advantage when he fought the Frostbears himself, Ready to jump into action, Ares quickly glanced at his system store, scanning for any items that could give him an advantage against the Frostbears.
Meanwhile, while observing Dong Seok's team, Ares carefully analyzed the monsters' movements, looking for weaknesses. He remained still, calculating his next move, and continued to scroll through his system. As he scanned the store, Ares saw various equipment that could potentially help him in the battle.
