Rise of the System Slayer

Chapter 2: Werewolf

After the task appeared, the system transported him to another dungeon where he could begin. Ares shook off the horrible thoughts from his head, trying to focus on what lay ahead.

[TOYOTA DUNGEON]

This task is meant to test whether he is a worthy player. Even if he doesn't succeed, he will not die, but some of his memories will be removed by the system, making it as if this event never happened.

The system assigned him a task: defeat the wolves. By completing it, he would receive a reward.

Five wolves appeared in front of him, each at level 1. Every wolf he defeated would grant him 250 experience points.

[Werewolf Level 1][Gained 250 Experience]

Ares quickly picked up his axe, gripping it tightly. He gave himself a moment of self-reassurance, convincing himself that he was strong enough to survive this dungeon. From a distance, he gazed at the five wolves. Their faces were terrifying, their eyes filled with hunger, craving blood.

"Thinking will get me nowhere. I'll just have to fight them," Ares muttered.

The wolf growls, signaling an attack, and one of them quickly dashes toward Ares. He quickly dodges the attack—despite his low strength, his above-average agility allows him to react just in time, relying on speed and instinct to survive. After the wolf lunged at him, it suddenly stopped for a brief moment. Without wasting any time, Ares seized the opportunity and drove his axe straight into its head.

[[You Have Gained Experience +250]

Ares received experience from the fallen wolf, but the remaining wolves clenched their teeth in anger. Their eyes burned with fury as they watched one of their own fall. Without hesitation, they immediately charged at him one by one, their sharp fangs bared and claws ready to tear him apart.

*GRRRR

Ares tightened his grip with both hands, steadying himself as he waited for the wolves to charge again. The moment one of them leaped toward him, its jaws wide open, ready to tear into him, he swung his pickaxe with all his strength. By sheer luck, the sharp end of the pickaxe pierced straight through the wolf's head. The beast let out a final whimper before collapsing lifelessly to the ground.

As Ares dispatched two of them, he remained focused and didn't let his guard down or act cocky because three wolves were still in front of him. This time, he was the one to charge at them, but he had a plan—he used himself as bait.

Two of the wolves lunged at him from both sides, but he quickly used his agility to dodge their attacks. With precise movements, he delivered two slashes across their bodies, causing them to growl in pain.

The last remaining wolf attempted to back away, but Ares didn't let it escape.

"You can't run!" he shouted, using all his strength for a final blow. His attack struck true, and the wolf's head fell to the ground, blood splattering across the dirt.

Ares took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he steadied himself. He had taken down all five wolves, but his body ached from the relentless fight. His hands trembled slightly as he continued to grip his pickaxe tightly.

A system notification flashed before him, confirming his victory.

[Task Completed!][+1250 Experience Gained][Level Up!][You Obtained The Steel Dagger]

Ares received a steel dagger, which belongs to the Uncommon (Green Grade) category.

The items are ranked into five categories based on their power and rarity:

- Common (Gray/White Grade): Basic items with low power.

- Uncommon (Green Grade): Slightly better than common items.

- Rare (Blue Grade): Stronger items with unique abilities.

- Epic (Purple Grade): Powerful items with magical properties

- Legendary (Orange/Gold Grade): Extremely rare and powerful items.

These are the five categories, ranked from lowest to highest.

He completed the task; a wolf's body had vanished, and the task had shown up.

As Ares completes the annihilation of the wolves, their bodies glow for a few seconds before vanishing. The task appears, and he is given a daily quest along with a reward. The system has chosen him to become a player.

[Urgent Task Completed][You Have Received A Reward][You Have Received Gold Points +250][You Have Been Given A Daily Quest]

The system gives him a daily quest to make himself stronger, level up, and enhance his physical abilities to handle the immense power that will be given to him.

After opening his rewards, a key and a stone appeared. The key is for entering the dungeon, where he can gain experience and level up. For now, the monsters inside the dungeon are around level 5, making them neither too hard nor too easy. The stone allows him to teleport back outside.

[You Have Received A Key][You Have Received A Stone]

and about His GP (Gold Points) can be used to buy equipment from the system, where he can choose from a variety of items, including:

As he completes the task, the system teleports him back to the Vermirith Dungeon.

"I'm back?" he murmurs, looking around and feeling relieved after completing the quest.

As Ares gazes at the screen, he notices the mining team returning after lunch. No one seems to have noticed that he had disappeared. Standing at the edge of the crystals, Ares sees Jayce quickly approaching him.

"Ares, where did you go? We were waiting for you on the other side," Jayce says, curious about Ares.

Ares tries to come up with an excuse, puzzled and avoiding eye contact.

"Ah... I just sat here by myself and ate my lunch..." Ares exclaims, sweat dripping down his face.

"Hm, what a shy little brat. Next time, don't go solo—you might encounter danger in this dungeon. I can go with you if you're okay with that," Jayce replies, concerned about Ares.

Ares nods in agreement, but before Jayce leaves, he asks, "Sir, did you see a text?"

Jayce's eyes widen, and he shakes his head, confused about what Ares is talking about. "What text?" he asks.

Ares is shocked by Jayce's response and quickly changes the topic, worried the situation might take a wrong turn. "Nothing, sir."

Jayce tells him to get back to work but can't shake the worry about what Ares is talking about.

 [8 HOURS LATER]

After working with the mining team, Ares quickly heads home and asks his little sister.

"Lily, do you see a blue screen?" Ares asked her, racing his heartbeat after getting home

"What screen, brother? Are you okay? And you're smelly, brother" Lily mumbles, her mouth full of kimchi.

e shakes his head and smells his shirt, realizing it stinks. Feeling disgusted with himself, he quickly heads to the bathroom to clean his body.

"I can see it clearly, but nobody else can," he whispers while sitting on the toilet. As he gazes at the screen, he explores it and checks for other details.
