RWBY : Remnant Hulk

Chapter 3: Small Task

The elevator doors slid open with a soft chime, and Team RWBY stepped into Professor Ozpin's office. The large, circular room was bathed in soft light from the massive windows, offering a breathtaking view of Beacon Academy and the city beyond. In the center of the room sat Professor Ozpin, stirring his coffee absentmindedly, while Professor Glynda Goodwitch stood beside him, arms crossed, looking as strict as ever.

As soon as the team entered, Glynda's sharp gaze landed on them.

"What took you so long?" she asked, adjusting her glasses.

Ruby froze, laughing awkwardly as she scratched the back of her head. "Uh… well… funny story about that…"

"We got a little distracted," Yang chimed in with a smirk.

"With what, exactly?" Glynda asked, her voice carrying the weight of mild annoyance.

Ruby hesitated before answering, "We kinda… got caught up talking with Team JNPR about… The Hulk."

There was a brief silence.

Glynda pinched the bridge of her nose. "You delayed a meeting with the Headmaster because of some ridiculous urban legend?"

Before Ruby could defend herself, Ozpin chuckled softly.

"The Hulk… now that's a name I haven't heard in a while."

That one sentence made the air in the room feel heavier.

Weiss was the first to react. "Wait—you actually know about him?"

Ozpin took a slow sip of his coffee before answering, "Of course. The Hulk is real."

Silence.

Ruby's jaw nearly hit the floor. Yang blinked in shock. Blake's ears twitched slightly, and even Weiss, who had been the most skeptical, looked like she had forgotten how to breathe.

"H-Hold on!" Ruby sputtered. "You're telling us The Hulk isn't just a rumor?!"

"That's exactly what I'm telling you," Ozpin replied with a small smile.

"B-But that doesn't make any sense!" Weiss protested, her voice rising slightly. "How could something that terrifying actually exist? If he was real, wouldn't there be more proof?"

"We can discuss that another time," Ozpin said, waving a hand dismissively. "Right now, I have something else for you to do."

At the mention of a task, Ruby immediately perked up.

"Oh! You mean like a mission?" she asked excitedly.

"You misheard," Ozpin corrected. "You're too young for a mission just yet."

Weiss sighed. "Of course. That would've been too easy."

"Then… what exactly are we doing?" Blake asked, folding her arms.

Ozpin leaned back in his chair. "I need you to deliver a small supply package to an old friend of mine."

Team RWBY collectively blinked.

"That's it?" Yang asked, raising an eyebrow.

Glynda stepped forward, adjusting her riding crop. "Yes, and I'll be accompanying you to ensure you don't get distracted again."

Weiss frowned. "Not that I'm complaining, but why are we delivering supplies? Shouldn't that be someone else's job?"

Ozpin smiled slightly. "Because this particular friend of mine is someone special."

Blake narrowed her eyes slightly. "Special how?"

Ozpin took another slow sip of coffee. "You'll see soon enough."

The cryptic answer didn't sit well with Blake.

As they followed Glynda out of the office and down the halls of Beacon, Ruby, ever curious, lagged behind slightly and took a quick peek into the supply box Glynda was carrying.

What she saw made her shoulders slump.

"It's just food?" she muttered.

Inside the box were simple supplies—canned goods, bread, tea, and some fresh fruit.

Yang peeked over her shoulder. "Really? That's it?"

"What were you expecting, high-grade weaponry?" Glynda asked, amused by their disappointment.

"I mean… kinda?" Yang admitted with a shrug.

"This whole thing is weird," Weiss muttered. "First Ozpin drops the bomb that The Hulk is real, and now we're doing grocery delivery?"

Blake, still skeptical, glanced at Glynda. "So, who exactly is this friend of Ozpin's?"

Glynda's expression remained neutral, but her next words sent another wave of shock through the team.

"He's just an old man. And, for the record, he was also my teacher."

The four girls stopped in their tracks.

"Wait… what?!" Ruby exclaimed.

Yang whistled. "Didn't see that coming."

Weiss folded her arms. "A former teacher of yours? That means he must be pretty skilled, right?"

"He was one of the best," Glynda admitted, her tone hinting at a rare touch of respect.

Blake furrowed her brow. "If he's that important, why isn't he working at Beacon?"

Glynda hesitated for just a moment before responding, "He chose a different path."

The way she said it made Blake feel like there was more to the story.

As they continued walking, the conversation died down. The halls of Beacon were quieter than usual, with only the occasional student passing by.

Blake, walking at the back of the group, remained deep in thought.

First Ozpin confirms The Hulk is real… and now they're meeting Glynda's old mentor?

Something about all of this didn't sit right with her.

Most legends had at least some truth to them, but for Ozpin to outright confirm The Hulk's existence without hesitation? That was different.

And this supposed "old friend" of his—if he was truly as skilled as Glynda claimed, why had he chosen to live in obscurity rather than work at Beacon?

She glanced at her teammates, who were still joking around.

They don't seem too concerned… but I have a bad feeling about this.

For now, she kept her thoughts to herself.

As they approached the exit of Beacon, Blake couldn't shake the feeling that this errand was about to lead them to something much bigger than a simple supply drop.
