Saga of Astral Mysteries (LOTMxASOIAF)

Chapter 58: Meeting in the Old Volantis (3)

"Maybe, but this is also a matter of the pride of the Clan Ferros, and even without power, we don't have enough military power to fight Medium-sized Khalasar on our own; most of our Beyonders and soldiery are spread across the Valyrian Freehold. Fortunately enough, many of the members of the Dragonlord Families are in dire need of money, something that we would gladly provide if they burn a few thousand horse-screaming barbarians for us."

Soon enough, they arrived at the luxurious Logue in the branch of the Ferros Chambers of Commerce as they sat on the leather sofas and waited for the servants to bring them some refreshments.

For the servants and employees, it was clear that Valkorion was someone very important if Lady Camille Ferros, the Heir Apparent, was personally guiding him and going to talk with the man in the private VIP logue that was typically reserved for the heads of the Noble Houses and powerful Beyonders.

"But enough of this; in fact, it is even more surprising to see you outside of that dammed fortress city; this is rather far from your hunting ground."

Camille knew very well the types like Valkorion, who were careful above everything else, and they were people who would never risk their lives in dangerous situations if not absolutely necessary, and they wouldn't ever leave their territory until they were strong enough.

She knew that something must have brought him out here, or else he would be training and getting stronger in the relatively safe environment in the Cartharys. Often, she wondered why someone like him was essentially wasting his time in a forsaken place like Cartharys.

Camille knew that with his talent, he would be one of the strongest young generation Beyonders in the entire Valyrian Freehold, and that wasn't to mention his dedication to hunting, training, and fighting.

Still, from a certain point of view, she understood his disposition because he was very careful and chose to play it safe. Nevertheless, she was rather curious about why he was here because she knew very well that Valkorion Nerona wasn't that tempted by almost anything.

He was resisting the temptation of the treasures and other things that would drive other adventures crazy like nothing and ignoring them all, as, in his words, it was too dangerous to wander into the areas that were above his pay grade.

Camille met a few people like him; they were one of the worst kinds of enemies to deal with, because they were extremely cautious, to the point of being often called cowards, even though that wasn't entirely false or true.

It was something in the middle.

Still, people like Valkorion Nerona were troublesome because it was extremely hard to tempt them into walking into some kind of trap, provoking them, or anything. At the moment, her intrigue was growing rather fast, and a certain part of her mind was also wondering if he was here for something precious.

Or something powerful.

"Always so observant, Lady Ferros... didn't you hear that curiosity killed the cat?"

He said almost jokingly as he looked at the servants that were serving them tea and snacks, as Valkroion internally thanked the almighty Gods or anything that existed because, fortunately enough, this world where he had transmigrated was more advanced than the original ASOIAF world.

Especially in the aspect of the food, because he wouldn't be able to bear eating those foods and eats from the middle ages because most of them looked like shit. Luckily enough, in this world, gastronomy was rather developed, especially for the rich.

"Cut the chase; you know very well that I am interested; you would have never left the Carhtarys as Low Sequence Beyonder if it wasn't an absolute necessity, both of us know that, and here were rather... rather far from home, don't you think?"

She said with a smirk as she gracefully lifted up the cup of tea and slowly sipped from her drink.

"Orange Shores, contracted exploration of some ruins, that's everything I can say without attracting unwanted attention from certain individuals."

Valkorion knew that he would need to say the partial truth because the woman wouldn't give up until she received a satisfactory answer. If she was unsatisfied with the answer, he predicted that Camille would send some of her speech after him, and that was the last thing that he needed.

To have some spies of the Ferros on his tail, which in turn would increase their attraction to the others and would make them better targets if they were being tailed.

"You are involving yourself with rather dangerous powers, but the most important question is... will you bring something valuable from there?"

She was able to figure out that he was forced into a position that he couldn't really refuse because Valkorion wouldn't be going to the place as Orange Shore out of his own free will.

Camille, as heiress of the richest Mercantile Clan in the Valyrian Freehold, was very well educated and knew that the Orange Shore was one of the most dangerous areas in the Western Essos.

"Yeah, yeah... and yes, hopefully, I will be bringing some precious loot from there; I can then trust you to auction it? Appearently the place I am going to will have a plenty of old things."

Valkorion asked because even though he was going to the Orange Shores partly against his will, he was going to make a maximum from the trip, and there was no better way to make use of it than to take everything valuable from the place.

For that he had prepared his Dimensional Pouch and even talked with the red witch about the things that could be found there. Even though the Orange Shore was swarming with the Undead, it was a place of countless ruins and other areas that were once very prosperous in the ancient past.

"Of course, I am pleased to inform you that the Extraordinary Core of the Sequence 7 Mutated Bugbear was sold a few days ago in Valyria City for 15,000 Gold Dragon Coins, including fees. I have taken it to myself to deposit it onto your account in the Iron Bank of Braavos."

Iron Bank of Braavos is one of the wealthiest banks in the entire Faerûn and is famous for providing financial services to clients of all kinds. No matter if it were the Kings and Great Nobles of the Westeros or the Dragonlords and Sorcerers of the Valyrian Freehold.

Everyone had some dealings with the Iron Bank.

Even though the relationship with the Braavos and the Valyrian Freehold wasn't the best, considering their common history, in the end, it was all a matter of the benefits. The Iron Bank was famous for its discretion, secrecy and their security with their common saying, "The Iron Bank will have its due".

Valkorion also knew that the Iron Bank was tied very closely with the House of Black and White, the world's premier assassin organization, which was one of the most powerful Secret Organizations in the world and worshipped the Many-Faced God.

Of course, the Valyrians were not really speaking about it because it was bringing them a lot of bad memories, apparently.
