Chapter 93: Those who violate Konoha's dignity
"Where are my teammates?!"
"Where are my teammates?!"
"Someone help me out here?!"
Kakashi stood on the battlefield, his dead-fish eyes drooping as he gazed at the Kazekage, who hovered in the sky, arms crossed, standing on golden sand. Internally, Kakashi was ranting furiously.
He had somehow managed to drag out the fight this long using all five of his chakra natures, but he was already operating far beyond his limits.
What could he even do against an enemy who could fly?
On top of that, his chakra was nearly depleted. If no reinforcements arrived soon, it would all be over for him.
"Ha, as expected of your reputation," Rasa said, his voice carrying an edge of respect. "Kakashi Hatake, you've got some skill to last this long against me."
From his vantage point in the sky, the Kazekage looked down at Kakashi, who was panting heavily, and couldn't help but feel a grudging admiration.
But it was precisely because of that skill that Rasa knew Kakashi had to die.
Having openly declared war on Konoha, Rasa anticipated that a full-scale conflict would soon erupt. And if Kakashi Hatake continued to live, the damage he could inflict on Sunagakure would be immeasurable.
His thoughts drifted momentarily—Kakashi, the son of Sakumo Hatake, Konoha's White Fang. That same White Fang who had killed Chiyo's son and daughter-in-law during the Second Ninja World War.
If Rasa could return with Kakashi's head, Chiyo would undoubtedly lend her full support to his cause.
A cold smirk curled on his lips at the thought.
Rasa quickly clapped his hands together, preparing to unleash a powerful jutsu that would end the legendary Copy Ninja once and for all.
But just as he was about to strike, a sharp whooshing sound tore through the air.
A massive shadow suddenly loomed over Rasa, blocking out the sun.
"What the—?"
Instinctively, Rasa looked up—and his eyes widened in shock.
A gigantic, ghost-faced iron wall was hurtling toward him with terrifying speed.
What in the world is this?!
He tried to dodge, but Kakashi wasn't about to let such a golden opportunity slip through his fingers. Summoning the last ounce of his chakra, he pulled a shuriken from his pouch and hurled it at Rasa.
With practiced hands, Kakashi formed a series of seals.
"Shuriken Enlargement Jutsu!"
This was a technique he'd accidentally copied from Sakura during training.
The small, palm-sized shuriken expanded mid-air, transforming into a massive Fuuma Shuriken as it flew directly at Rasa, cutting off his escape route.
Under normal circumstances, Rasa would have a hundred ways to deal with a simple shuriken.
But now?
With the massive iron wall bearing down on him and Kakashi's shuriken blocking his path, Rasa had no choice.
His face darkened as he made his decision.
Time seemed to freeze.
Hot, crimson blood splattered through the air.
And with it, an arm fell to the ground.
The arm of one of the Five Kage—severed.
Clutching his bleeding shoulder, Rasa didn't spare Kakashi another glance. His golden sand carried him away as he turned his focus to the bigger picture.
The Senju brothers, resurrected by the Impure World Reincarnation, had been sealed.
Orochimaru had been gravely injured, defeated by Hiruzen Sarutobi and Tsunade working together.
It was a complete defeat.
Rasa clenched his jaw. He had to retreat now—regroup with Temari, Kankuro, Gaara, and Baki, and preserve their remaining strength.
This surprise attack on Konoha had largely relied on the forces of Otogakure and the serpents of the Dragon Cave. Sunagakure had deployed only a small contingent, with Gaara, their One-Tail Jinchuriki, being the sole exception.
Orochimaru couldn't complain.
Meanwhile, Orochimaru, battered and bloodied, turned to Hiruzen Sarutobi, who stood leaning on his staff.
"It seems you still have the strength to turn that windmill, Sensei," Orochimaru said, his voice laced with mockery and nostalgia.
"At this point, Orochimaru, what more is there to say?" Hiruzen asked wearily.
Tsunade, standing by her old teacher's side, clenched her fists, glaring coldly at their former classmate.
Orochimaru ignored her, his gaze shifting to the two Hokages who were now glowing faintly, moments away from being sealed.
He quickly began forming hand seals.
"Impure World Reincarnation: Release!"
The undead Hokages—especially Hashirama—contained knowledge too valuable to leave in Konoha's hands.
As the jutsu released, Orochimaru smirked one last time.
"Ha, farewell, Sensei. I hope Jiraiya shows up at the next reunion. Oh, and prepare for war."
With that, Orochimaru's body dissolved into countless small, white snakes that scattered in every direction.
"Orochimaru!" Tsunade shouted angrily. "You think you can just run away?!"
But Hiruzen's voice stopped her.
"Tsunade... let him go."
"Old man, how could you—"
Tsunade started to argue but stopped.
Hiruzen was pale, his breathing labored, and his body trembled as he leaned heavily on his staff.
"It's nothing," he said softly. "I've just overused my chakra."
Even so, Hiruzen stood tall. As Hokage, he could not afford to fall now.
There was much to be done—rebuilding Konoha, negotiations with the Tsuchikage, and preparations for the inevitable war against Sunagakure.
If Konoha didn't retaliate, they'd lose the respect of their people—and their enemies.
When it's time to fight, we must fight.
Hiruzen's gaze sharpened as he looked out over the village, devastation and determination filling his eyes.
As the Senju brothers began to fade, Tobirama asked one final question:
"Monkey, what are your next steps?"
Without hesitation, Hiruzen replied:
"Those who challenge Konoha's dignity must be struck down!"
