Chapter 94: Crushing the Cherry Blossoms
"Naruto!"
"Sasuke!"
Amidst the dense forest, the blond boy and the dark-haired youth charged toward the humanoid figure ahead, their hands crackling with Chidori and Rasengan. The destructive energy from their techniques shattered one massive sand arm after another.
Or rather, perhaps it was more fitting to call their enemy a tailed-beastified Jinchuriki.
Gaara's body was fully encased in sand. His muscular arms and imposing frame made him tower like a giant, his head transformed into a raccoon-like visage encased in solid sand. A massive tail dragged behind him, and violet markings coursed across his form like ominous veins.
If not for his humanoid legs, it would have been impossible to tell he was ever human.
"Die, die, die!"
Foaming at the mouth, Gaara's twisted expression mixed rage and despair.
With a guttural roar, waves of sand surged forward, clawing at Naruto and Sasuke like a relentless tidal wave.
The piercing cry of a thousand birds filled the air as Sasuke's Chidori flashed, slicing through the sand claws with a deafening roar.
"Naruto!"
As the sand claws disintegrated, the lightning in Sasuke's hand flickered and faded. He turned to Naruto, who was ready beside him.
"Got it!"
Naruto instantly understood Sasuke's plan. Without hesitation, he extended his arm. Sasuke grabbed his wrist and, with a spinning motion, hurled Naruto straight into the oncoming wall of sand claws.
"Rasengan!"
The spiraling chakra sphere erupted in Naruto's hand, obliterating the nearest claws. Yet it wasn't enough. There were too many.
As the claws swarmed closer, Naruto showed no sign of fear. Instead, a confident smile lit up his face.
Zzzap!
A streak of lightning shot past him.
Sasuke, wielding his ninja blade, darted forward like a flash of electricity. In a single leap, he plunged into the swarm, his blade slicing through dozens of sand claws with precision.
Sasuke moved with the grace of a butterfly flitting between flowers. The sand claws swiped and snapped at him but failed to catch even a trace.
His movements were all perfectly calculated, each step guided by his crimson Sharingan.
"Nicely done!"
"Sasuke!"
Seeing his companion's flawless execution, Naruto quickly formed hand seals, determination blazing in his azure eyes.
No matter what, he would never let anyone threaten his village.
"Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
With a surge of chakra—an unmistakable hallmark of the Uzumaki clan—thousands, no, tens of thousands of Naruto clones swarmed the battlefield.
The tide had turned.
While Sasuke continued advancing toward Gaara, he caught a glimpse of Naruto's clones out of the corner of his eye. A smirk tugged at his lips.
"Not bad, Naruto!"
"But don't think you're the only one who's improved!"
In an instant, Sasuke's movements shifted. His graceful, flashy style transformed into something brutal and efficient.
Like a beast intent on killing, every swing of his blade was precise and lethal, designed to inflict maximum damage with minimal effort.
His ninja blade became a fang, tearing through everything in its path.
--
"Kakashi-sensei, where are Naruto and Sasuke?"
Kakashi's tired voice broke the tension as he stood before the remains of two bodies and a pile of scattered papers.
The corpses belonged to Zaku and Tōsu from the Sound Village.
Hearing his question, Sakura snapped back to reality.
"Damn it!"
"Naruto and Sasuke went after Gaara!"
"There's no way Rasa will let Gaara fall into Konoha's hands. They're in danger!"
Without waiting for a response from Hiruzen, Tsunade, or Kakashi, Sakura sprinted toward the distant forest.
Tsunade silently watched Sakura's retreating figure, then glanced at Kakashi, who was slumped on the ground.
"Pathetic. And you call yourself a ninja. Exhausted already after a little skirmish?"
Kakashi's deadpan expression remained unchanged. "Who could compare to you, Lady Tsunade?"
The Senju clan's legendary chakra reserves and Tsunade's Yin Seal made her endurance unmatched. Comparing himself to her would've been humiliating.
--
Sakura dashed into the forest, activating her sensory technique. She could feel the traces of battle and followed them without hesitation.
By this time, Naruto and Sasuke had pushed Gaara to his limits.
Gaara was panting heavily, his movements growing erratic as he frantically destroyed clone after clone. His once-intimidating form now looked desperate and cornered.
Yet there was something about him that made Naruto hesitate.
This boy was just like him.
A Jinchuriki.
The ominous chakra radiating from Gaara's form reminded Naruto of the Nine-Tails within him—wild, untamed, and devastating.
Suddenly, Gaara roared, his voice echoing through the forest with bone-rattling ferocity. The sheer force of his chakra obliterated the nearest clones in an instant.
Then his left eye turned golden, its slit pupil narrowing like a predator's.
Gaara had decided to fully unleash Shukaku.
--
Before he could, however, a figure descended from the sky.
Rasa—the Fourth Kazekage—landed between his son and the battlefield.
He scanned the chaos: Naruto's clones, Sasuke's deadly precision, and Gaara's monstrous form. His golden eyes narrowed.
He recognized the blond boy.
The Nine-Tails Jinchuriki.
If he could capture or kill him now, it would be a significant blow to Konoha.
But before Rasa could act, the ground shook violently.
A pink blur tore through the forest, leaving cracks in the earth with each step. The tremors carried with them the sound of thunder.
Hiruzen's young protégé had arrived.
Rasa glanced at her, his expression unreadable. During the Chunin Exams, he had dismissed her as just another promising jonin-level ninja.
But now, after witnessing her abilities, he saw the potential for a Namikaze Minato in the making.
Yet she wasn't Minato. Not yet.
Rasa smirked to himself. He would bide his time. This dazzling blossom would be crushed in the war to come.
