Chapter 4: Ch. 4 The Conflict and Progression
With Nobu's words, the Ninja following him all decided to attack at once.
I knew that I wasn't trained so I simply floated in the air dodging or stopping various metal projectiles.
I could have simply stayed exactly where I was, simply block all attacks with telekinesis, but I wanted to gain more experience in fighting and moving with Levitation.
Using Levitation is already effortless for me as i have memories of having used it for years, but I wanted practice dodging attacks of martial artists.
After around 30 minutes of dodging and weaving between attacks, and using my telekinesis to grab the Ninja's weapons and throwing them away, I was having a lot of fun and the longer the fight went on, the ease of using my skills increased and I could see my progression increase in real time.
After another 30 minutes, I felt as if I was no longer gaining progress so I decided to end it.
(Nobu POV)
This being, yes being is the best way to describe it. I didn't sense it before, but after hearing it's words and fighting with it for half an hour, I could sense some otherworldly power inside this being.
I could tell as time went on that this thing was simply toying with us, with The Hand. Once we figure our it's weakness, it will no longer be able to have that nonchalant face anymore.
'You will fall before The Hand, as will all.'
My thoughts were interrupted, my instincts screamed at ne to move, so I jumped back as far as I could and I watched in astonishment at how my men were effortlessly stopped and then were floating in the air, I also realized that my body also couldn't move.
I looked on in horror as the being simply flicked his fingers around and each ant every one of my men had their heads ripped off and all their blood was still floating in the air, and more blood was being pulled from their bodies.
The bodies suddenly dropped, the blood remaining in the air and I felt myself being lifted up and brought closer to this being whose eyes seemed to become cold.
"You see, all along you and your men were never a danger to me. I feel as if I should leave you alive but with a message for your bosses. I'm going to end The Hand, and there is absolutely nothing they can do about it." The being said.
Right after they spoke, I saw them flicking their fingers around again and I saw writing appear on the wall from the blood of my men.
*This is your only warning, stop what you're doing, or I will.
-Sincerely yours Harlequin. ;)*
After reading the message, I saw the being flick his fingers once again and I felt my legs being forcibly broken I was then sent flying into the wall with the bloody message, my body hitting the smiling face and my body slumped against the wall causing the blood to smear against my back.
As I sat there in pain, a phone floated in front of me.
"Go ahead and call your boss for pick-up. You can go ahead and tell them about me, not that it will make any difference." The being said at last as he floated out of the warehouse.
'I need to contact Madame Gao and the others, this enemy is not one we can underestimate and we are severely lacking in a way to deal with them.' Nobu thought as he dialed a number.
*ring ring*
*ring ring*
The phone rang for a little bit until he heard the voice of his master on the other end.
(AN: * * This will be how I determine conversations over the phone or radio/coms system)
*Nobu? Why do you call?* Gao said
*Master. We have a new enemy, one that I do not believe we can defeat. We need to gather to discuss this new threat.* Nobu replied seriously.
Sensing the urgency in his tone, Madame Gao knew something serious had happened.
*Very well, we will request for a gathering. Meet me at the usual location* Gao commanded.
*I cannot do that master* Nobu replied.
*And why not?* Gao asked with edge in her voice at being questioned by her subordinate.
*I am too injured to move, and, there is something you need to see. Our new enemy has left us a message, a warning he called it.* Nobu explained.
*Send me your location..* Gao said understanding Nobu's reasons.
(MC POV)
'That was rather fun, at least the exploring my powers part. I wish I didn't have to do what I did, but with all the memories I recieved from King, I gained perspective. That perspective was expanded as i realized who I was dealing with and the probable world I had found myself in.'
I knew that dealing with The Hand, I couldn't show any weakness, they would use it against me, and I knew I had to show them two things.
One, that I was willing to do whatever I needed to do to win. And two, that they were hilariously outlassed.
This would cause them to gather to discuss ways to beat me and would actually make it easier for me to beat them all at once. After all, at last 75% of The Hand were just humans. I could kill them easily, but that wouldn't help, I'd need to dismantle them completely.
There was one that I could probably kill without any issues, and that would be the Russians. They don't have any major impact on The Hand and are the weakest of the bunch.
Once I gain the ability of telepathy from King's abilities, I could use that to get all the information I need. The best part about all of King's abilities is that they are all magically inclined. So it isn't simply telepathy and telekinesis, but a magical version of each. That makes it harder for there to be counters to my telepathy.
This would most likely come in handy for when I have to get information from Madame Gao as she is very powerful for a human and I am sure she has disciplined her mind. That won't help that much when she has every bone in her body being broken one after another.
I know that having to resort to torture will definitely be something that I will have a difficult time with, but it is the only way to ensure that I can gain the information I need, I'd be killing her anyways and she is responsible for so much death and suffering that I probably won't even lose any sleep over it.
'I already know that my mind is different from that of a normal human, it comes with having the memories of living for a few hundred years, I'd say I probably have the memories of 300 of King's 1300 years of memories, maybe more due to an increase in my percentage of completion of my current template.'
Thinking of that I decided to open my status page to see my current information.
'Status'
{Status}
[Dean Edwards]
[Race:Fairy]
[Title(s): None
[HP: 800]
[MP: 800]
{Template (s): Fairy King Harlequin(King-Sin of Sloth)}
{Progress: 8%}
Seeing the increase in percentage, and my health and mana stats, I decided to check my attributes page
'Attributes'
{Attributes}
[STR: 17
[AGI: 15
[INT: 300
[END: 12
[VIT: 150
[Unused attribute Points: 30]
'Oracle, how did I get attribute points?' I asked.
[Every time you increase your progress in the Template by 1% you gain 10 points per every percentage]
'Hmm, is there any other way to gain points or is it just to wait for proficiency?' I asked.
[There are a few ways your attributes can increase, your Health and Mana stats increase in proportion to your percentage until you reach 70% and gain access to your Sacred treasure, until then, the first number will always match your percentage number.]
'What would change when I get my Sacred Treasure?' I asked.
[You need not worry about that now, as everything will be revealed when you reach 70%]
'Fair enough. Alright you can continue.
[As for your other stats. You can increase your physical stats in your base form and they will be added to your transformed stats. As for gaining more Unused attribute Points, when you unlock the quest function, you can receive quests that upon completion will grant points among other small rewards related to the SDS world.]
'Quests? Cool. How do u unlock the quest function Oracle?' I asked.
[You must reach 10% completion of your first Template to unlock the function]
'Okay that's fine. But why did my percentage increase slow down so much? It hasn't moved in a while.' I wondered.
[That is simply due to the fact that you have mastered using your specific skill against those types of enemies and must experiment more with that skill, and you must make more use of your second skill which you have barely used]
'I see, so the more people I fight, and the more I experiment with my skills, will increase my template percentage?'
[Yes. Also, when you unlock the quest function, you could be given percentage completion as quest rewards]
'Okay, I think I got it now. It looks like the quests are going to be the providing the biggest increase in completion. I should get to 10% and unlock the quest function as soon as I can' I thought excitedly.
