Chapter 157: Good and Evil(3)
When the Holy Pope arrived at this place, he was surprised to discover that many glowing complicated runes had been painted on the ground and were surrounding a strange black veil that was covering a large amount of this land.
From time to time, this black veil would shake as if a beast had been imprisoned inside and was trying to break free, while the screams and the sound of collisions made it clear that an intense fight was taking place inside.
When the Holy Pope saw this, and sensing that this was the last place where the Demon Pope had appeared before their connection was cut off by an outside force, he understood that he had come to the right place.
The Holy Pope lowered his head and was about to examine this strange formation below when suddenly, his face turned pale and he coughed out another mouthful of blood.
At the same time, an intense pain appeared in his four limbs, while his torso felt numb.
When he saw this, the Holy Pope couldn't help but become furious.
"Damn it! What is happening? What am 'I' doing? Did 'I' go insane?", he complained amidst the gritting of his teeth.
Of course, the Holy Pope knew very well that this was not 'his' fault.
As two separate parts of the same person, he and the Demon Pope were essentially clones of each other.
Even if they didn't share the same consciousness, they were the same person.
This also meant that if one of them suffered serious injuries, the other one would also suffer a backlash as a result, and this backlash would only be more severe if one of them were to die.
Now, it was obvious that an accident had happened and the Demon Pope found himself in a dangerous situation.
With this in mind, the Holy Pope knew that he didn't have the luxury to wait any longer.
With each second that passed, the situation would become increasingly serious.
Most importantly, if something were to happen to the Demon Pope, his thousands-year-old plan would fail and his dreams of taking revenge would shatter!
As the Divine Power inside the Holy Pope's body surged, countless strands of sunlight fell from the sky and gathered right above his head, forming a large sphere that was made out of sunlight.
The temperature of this sphere was extremely high and caused the plants in the area around the Holy Pope to catch on fire, while the sphere had a terrifying resemblance to the sun that shone brightly in the sky.
After this "sun" appeared, the Holy Pope didn't wait but controlled it to fall towards the formation below.
"Boom!"
Space cracks formed wherever this "sun" passed by, and the moment it touched the black veil, it left a huge hole behind before disappearing.
There were marks of burning left around the hole's edges, which spread around the rest of the black veil at a terrifying speed.
In a split second, these marks had spread all over the formation, and then, the black veil cracked and turned into ashes that were blown by the wind.
Not surprisingly, the level of this formation was not very high and it was completely unable to withstand the attacks of the Holy Pope, who was able to use his full strength.
As the formation disintegrated, the scene inside was revealed.
However, the Holy Pope didn't become very happy about this but was instead stunned.
All this time, he had been wondering who it was that was able to fight against the Demon Pope and was even able to suppress and seriously injure him.
He wondered whether the First Sun King had anticipated his betrayal and left behind a backup to deal with him, or whether the so-called Gods in the sky had found out about his plan and were trying to stop him.
There were many guesses about what happened in the Holy Pope's mind, but none of them actually matched the truth.
The culprit behind everything was neither the First Sun King nor the so-called Gods, nor any person that the Holy Pope was expecting.
Instead, it was a giant creature with long blonde hair and blue eyes, that wore golden armor and was using its bloody claws and tail to frantically attack the Demon Pope in front of it.
The Demon Pope was thrown around like a sandbag and was completely unable to resist this creature's ruthless attacks.

The scales all over his body had been broken into pieces, and there were hundreds of deep wounds left on his body, with blood flowing out of them and dripping to the ground.
Although her appearance had changed entirely and her aura was many times stronger, the Holy Pope instantly recognized that the person who was beating up the Demon Pope was familiar and it was the woman who he had personally appointed as the Saint of the Holy Church.
It was exactly because he could recognize her that he was stunned.
Wasn't she just a Great Warrior and Great Magician?
Even if she was a person with destiny, it didn't make sense for her to become so strong in such a short amount of time.
Didn't you see how easily he killed Mu Huanzhi before?
So what happened here?
On the other side, both Chu Wuyao and the Demon Pope immediately noticed that the formation around them broke and their eyes landed on the stunned Holy Pope who was floating in the sky.
A relieved smile appeared on the bloody face of the Demon Pope, while his eyes flashed with undisguised murderous intent.
Over the past few minutes, he had been unilaterally beaten up by the monster in front of him and even though he seemed calm on the surface, he had become furious.
Having lived for thousands of years and having enjoyed a high status all his life, how could he be willing to suffer such humiliation at the hands of a person who had lived for a few decades?
All this time, the Demon Pope had been waiting for the Holy Pope to arrive, so that he could take his revenge.
Now, the time had finally come!
The next second, the Demon Pope's body disintegrated and turned into a strange, squirming red mist.
This mist had a will of its own and instantly, it flew towards the Holy Pope.
Its speed was surprisingly fast and it had arrived in front of him before Chu Wuyao could react at all.
When the Holy Pope saw the red mist in front of him, he woke up from his stupor.
With the re-establishment of the connection between him and the Demon Pope, he instantly understood what had happened and why the Demon Pope had suffered such injuries.
"A variable...", the Holy Pope whispered, and then, he waved his right hand towards the red mist.
The moment his hand came in contact with it, it was as if the red mist had returned to its source, and it immediately drilled right into his body.
The Holy Pope didn't show any resistance to this and allowed it to happen.
The next moment, two dazzling lights came out of his body and engulfed him, making it impossible to see his figure.
One of those lights was golden, and exuded a holy aura that seemed to be the enemy of everything evil and the protector of justice, while the other one exuded a chaotic aura that seemed to symbolize madness, cruelty, bloodlust, and everything evil in this world.
These two extremely contradictory lights flashed around the Holy Pope's body, and it was fairly obvious that some changes were taking place in him.
Indeed, just a split second later, the two lights returned to his body and the Holy Pope appeared again.
It's just that compared to before, the Holy Pope's appearance and aura had changed entirely as if he had turned into a different person.
Half of his face was still very young and contained traces of immaturity, while the other one was old and covered with countless wrinkles.
One of his eyes was golden and filled with kindness, while the other one was red and filled with madness and bloodthirstiness.
The golden robe that he had previously been wearing had also changed in color and had become pitch black, with many complicated golden and red symbols all over its surface.
However, the most important change in the Holy Pope was not the change in his appearance, but the change in his aura.
Originally, the Holy Pope was at the peak of the Holy Realm and was extremely strong, but now, he had become even stronger.
Somehow, he had been able to achieve a breakthrough, although his breakthrough didn't seem complete.
Under Chu Wuyao's perception, his aura fluctuated and was sometimes strong and sometimes weak.
If the First Sun King was here, he would realize that the Holy Pope was just a thin line away from breaking through the so-called God Realm and could now be considered a quasi-God!
