Chapter 169: Guardian
When Chu Wuyao saw the platform in the distance, she immediately understood that she had come to the right place and she had found what she was looking for.
With this in mind, she didn't show any hesitation and stepped forward, approaching the platform.
A few seconds later, Chu Wuyao stood right next to it, and ignoring the statue of the Creation God, she looked at the person who sat on the floor with his eyes closed.
The man seemed to be in his early forties, wore luxurious clothes, and had a golden crown on his head, while he subconsciously exuded a sense of majesty, making it clear that he had been in a position of power for a very long time. Stay updated with My Virtual Library Empire
The moment Chu Wuyao's eyes landed on him, she recognized his identity.
It was the Moon King.
Or to be more accurate, it was someone who was occupying the body of the Moon King's past life.
Chu Wuyao wasn't trying to hide her aura while coming to this place, so the middle-aged man immediately noticed her arrival.
His body shook and he exhaled, and then, he opened his eyes, revealing a pair of indifferent black pupils.
"Has another era passed?", he muttered in a low, almost inaudible voice, seemingly speaking to himself.
Then, he shook his head and turned to look at Chu Wuyao.
"Are you the ruler of the current era?", he asked and his voice was weird, soft ,yet harsh at the same time.
Hearing the man's question, Chu Wuyao didn't respond but observed him closely.
Although his appearance seemed normal and there was nothing special about him, Chu Wuyao could sense that this man didn't seem to have emotions, as if he was a machine, or an indifferent, ruthless god.
This only served to make her even more certain of her previous guess.
"I'm quite curious. Are you the owner of the inheritance, or a practitioner who was lucky enough to obtain the inheritance and set this trap up?", she asked, her voice doubtful.
In response to her "accusation", the man's expression didn't change and he quickly shook his head.
"Neither. Although you humans like to refer to me as the Creation God or the Destruction God, in fact, I'm just the guardian of this inheritance.", he said and as if he felt that this was not enough, he chose to explain further:
"My Master happened to find the world you live in by accident during one of his journeys. Seeing the weakness of this world, my Master spread the power system you currently practice, and then, he left behind his inheritance before leaving, hoping to find a successor that would inherit his mantle."
Saying this, the Guardian paused for a brief second, before continuing:
"But who is my Master? A Supreme God! It is impossible to get his inheritance so easily!"
"To obtain the inheritance, you have to have extraordinary luck, reach the Holy Realm, and unify the whole continent."
"Most importantly, to obtain the inheritance, you have to defeat me!", the Guardian said, and as he was speaking, he jumped up to his two feet and reached behind him, picking up the spear that was tied to his back.
Holding the spear with his hands, the Guardian looked at Chu Wuyao and his eyes flashed with a cold light.
"Of course. If you fail the test, you have to become my carrier and help me wait for the destined person's arrival!"
The moment he finished his words, the aura of the Guardian rapidly improved.
From the Warrior Apprentice stage, it jumped to the True Warrior stage, and in the blink of an eye, to the Great Warrior stage.
This increase continued, and it was only when his aura reached the peak of the Holy Realm that it finally came to a stop.
The next second, the space around him cracked as he moved and his figure disappeared, before appearing behind Chu Wuyao and stabbing towards her back.
Facing the Guardian's sudden attack, Chu Wuyao didn't feel any surprise.
Her expression remained unchanged and she waved her hand, creating a shield made out of holy light behind her that flew towards the spear.
"Boom!"
The spear's tip collided with the shield, but shockingly, it didn't cause any damage to it.
Not only did the shield not suffer, but under the man's surprised eyes, it created a counterforce that pushed him back.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Chu Wuyao moved and she teleported beside him.
A blue sword that was accompanied by a chilly aura had unknowingly appeared in her right hand, and after she poured her Divine Power into it, she swung it forward.
Countless tiny stars covered the sword's surface, while the colors of orange, red, black, and gold dyed its edges.
These colors quickly blended together, turning into a chaotic color that was constantly changing, alternating between the colors of deep red and bright gold.
The Guardian of the inheritance saw this, and he immediately sensed the terrifying power that was hidden behind this sword's ordinary appearance.
With his many years of battle experience, he instinctively wanted to raise his spear to defend himself, when suddenly, a red flag appeared above him.
The Blood Flag fluttered under Li Ruoshi's control, and countless thick red chains flew out of the bloody flag and flew towards the Guardian.
Before he could react, the red chains wrapped around his limbs and countless runes flashed, bounding him tightly and preventing him from moving.
The Guardian's expression changed and he used his Divine Power to attack these chains, causing countless cracks to form on them.
The next second, the chains shattered and the Guardian broke free.
However, Li Ruoshi had bought just enough time for Chu Wuyao.
"Bang!"
The sword suddenly landed on the man, and as if he was made out of paper, it instantly penetrated his head and cut it in two.
As if this was not enough, Chu Wuyao controlled her Divine Power to travel through the sword and rush into the Guardian's body, "hitting" every single one of his cells and destroying them.
Before long, the body of the Guardian turned into ashes that flew in the wind, erasing every trace of his existence.
From the time when the Guardian suddenly attacked her, to his death, only less than half a second had passed and it only took Chu Wuyao one attack to wipe him out.
If any practitioner was here, they would have been stunned.
Although the Guardian was weaker than the Moon King after he fused his two bodies, he was still extremely powerful and had strength comparable to the First Sun King.
Yet, such a powerful person died so easily in the hands of Chu Wuyao, without being able to put up any resistance at all.
