Shadow Slave (Guiltythree) | Aposle of Oath

Chapter 39: Philosophy (Mid length Chapter)

Frowning at their laughter and with the issue of the amount of essence sparks he saw not to mention the lack of soul essence or shadow essence for this matter it took to manifest the Echo he slowly turned around.

As his gaze landed on the Echo he froze.

Raising his hands to his head he roared.

"Damnation!!!".

The damn Echo was not big at all.

'Tyrant my ass'.

The Father of Risen was rather small compared to his previous form.

Yet even with its similarity to the human skeletal system, there were a few abnormalities.

Its limbs seemed a bit longer than that of a normal human skeleton.

Its spine was also much longer and hitched slightly forward, making the skeleton's posture hunch slightly.

Its bones were smooth, unblemished, and pale white.

There wasn't any sign of flesh on the skeletal Echo.

'Damnation'.

After a bit of banter and teasing, which was mostly incited by Effie the cohort had finally begun to move once more.

They had successfully escaped the Dark City.

Who knew it would be so hard?

A while later, they were resting in the shadow of the giant statue.

Every member of the cohort looked nothing short of terrible, however, beneath the bloodied сlothes and broken armor, their bodies were whole and sound.

Changing Star had healed them all, and now, she was the only one who was weak and exhausted.

Using the white flame so much had taken a heavy toll on her.

Sitting in the mud, Sunny raised his head and looked at the giant statue of the faceless woman.

She was just like the last time he had seen her, slender and graceful, with her light flowing robe rippling in the wind, as though made out of actual fabric and not hard stone.

The statue was tilted slightly to the side, with its one remaining hand reaching high into the sky.

A long time ago, on the night of their harrowing escape from the Ashen Barrow, Sunny, Cassie, Isaac, and Nephis had taken shelter in her palm.

And Electra...

Sunny shook his head.

And looked out.

It was from its height that he had first seen the walls of the Dark City.

Looking down, Sunny stared at the other hand of the giant statue, which had broken off a long time ago and fell, crushing through the dome of the underground chamber.

With a sigh, he closed his eyes and thought:

'Thank you for saving us again.'

Then, his face darkened.

Somewhere else in the shadow of the stone giant.

Isaac sat there, his face, indifferent.

He had slowly begun to analyze the fight with the Lord of the Dead now known as the father of Risen.

Many things have changed.

Sonny had awakened his Aspect Legacy much earlier than he should have in the forgotten shore.

He had increased his Class as well.

All these were good results.

Isaac wanted to survive this cruel place.

He also wanted to know why he was transported to a novel world.

No matter how much he looked at it how many times he looked over his memories he couldn't find anything conclusive.

But he did find something.

Something that to himself made him wary.

His flaw allowed him to never forget to be able to precisely remember anything he's seen and heard.

Yet why was it that other than reading the novel he couldn't remember his past life completely?

He could remember bits and pieces.

Yeah, even then, those pieces were extremely blurry.

Back then, before he Awakened he had simply thought that it was due to his memories of his old life and not being in the shadow slave world.

As such, his Flaw did not affect it.

Yet now that Isaac's emotions were suppressed even further due to his inability his mind was much clearer.

And he instantly saw the flaws of his previous conclusion.

If his Flaw did not affect his memories why was it that his knowledge of the novel was so absolute?

He even remembered his time in the Shadow Slave discord.

Yet other than anything related to Shadow Slave his mind was a blur.

He was afraid.

It certainly was scary.

Isaac did not doubt his previous self would have had a panic attack at this new knowledge.

Yet his current self did not.

His emotions were suppressed by [Ascetic].

He could still feel them for a moment but they always vanished in the end.

In the future if he were to become a Master or even a Saint...

Isaac felt his heart palpitate for a moment.

His lips quivered slightly.

His pupils slightly dialed.

Yet in the next moment his heart, lips, and pupils returned to normal.

'Would I even be able to feel my emotions'.

The capacity of his innate ability grew with every Class increase.

While its potency grew with even advancement in his Rank.

So if he becomes an Ascended Demon or even a Transcended Devil will he even be able to feel his emotions?

Would he still be himself?

Would he slowly become something or even someone else?

Before Isaac fell any deeper into his philosophical issue, he quickly pulled his mind out.

'I can't lose focus of my objective'.

He didn't have the privilege of delving too deeply into philosophical issues, even if they were his own.

Emotions had to be thrown to the side.

He needed to erase the uncertainty in his heart.

He needed to sharpen his will.

He needed to forge a singular unified will.

Closing his eyes tightly, Isaac took a deep breath and held it for a few seconds before exhaling through his mouth.

His eyelids were pulled up refilling two clear grey eyes.

Within them, there was no emotion no sense of uncertainty only a dark unified desire to survive.

For this desire to be fulfilled, the cohort needed to become stronger.

Moving his gaze towards Sunny who was watching Nephis and Caster spar Isaac had an idea.

By Sunny's admission, he was close to unlocking the second step of Shadow Dance.

And Isaac was going to help him, unlock it within the forgotten shore, and help him obtain the second relic.

The blood of Shadow god.

Then when he was sure of his safety could he dive into the mysteries of his reincarnation.
