Shin Megami Tensei: New Domain

Chapter 10: SMT CH.10: experience sharing.

( Ena's POV )

Mitsuru: Why do you want to stop me?

When I stopped Mitsuru from contacting the teachers, she stared at me, demanding an explanation, she could be intimidating to many, but I was unaffected.

Ena: It is not confirmed that the method Pixie said will work for us, the trip there will be dangerous, and if we go there for nothing, the return here will be even worse, who knows how many we could lose?

Mitsuru: We don't have many options, we won't survive another attack, not if you're not there to protect us, how did you do that, by the way?

Ena: This app helped me with that, this gives us a lot of options.

I showed my phone to Mitsuru and then summoned the demons we had collected earlier.

Ena: Ryuji and I have the power to explore the clue that Pixie gave us and we can leave a group of demons protecting this place.

Mitsuru: How can I trust that those demons won't attack us?

The president was not easy to convince, but at that moment, all our phones rang, I checked that quickly and saw two new features in the app, that was, party exchange and experience sharing.

I hit the party exchange, and it took me to another window that showed everyone present at the secret base, the demon contract app had been installed on all of our phones.

Mitsuru: So this is what you use to command those demons?

Ena: correct.

Mitsuru: I guess your idea of an expedition is more viable now.

Ena: Thanks for the trust, but a warning, don't get too close to the fights, The black cloud that the demons release when they fall automatically enters our bodies, the contracts can be terminated, but I believe that this cannot be reversed.

I pulled down my scarf and showed her the black marks on my cheek.

Ryuji: Man, why didn't you tell me that before?

Ena: You would have followed me anyway.

Ryuji: You're right about that.

Mitsuru: It's my duty to protect others, I'll accept that risk.

Ena: you are always so serious, president.

I pressed the experience sharing function, then on Mitsuru's photo, a little bit of experience came out of my phone and entered Mitsuru's body, Just like us, black marks appeared on her body but these appeared on the palm of her left hand, I think the location of the marks is different for each person.

Aigis: Ena, I want to go with you too.

Ena: Are you sure about that? Like I said, this could be permanent.

Aigis: You ended up like this for helping me, it's my turn to help you.

Io: Me too, I don't know how much I can do, but I want to help.

After Aigis and Io declared that they were going to help, I stole a glance at Ann and she suddenly stood up.

Ann: Argh I guess I can't be the only one not helping.

Ena: You don't have to feel pressured to do that.

Ann: It's not that, if I'm not watching you, who knows what trouble you'll get into.

Ena: I think you'll have to keep a close eye on me to avoid that.

Using the experience sharing feature, the girls received their marks, Aigis on her right forearm, Io on her left thigh, and Ann on her cleavage, near her heart, Ann opened her shirt a little to see the mark, and when Ryuji tried to get closer he earned a slap from Ann.

////////////////////////

After a little preparation, we left the school and left Mitsuru with a team of six demons.

Minutes after leaving I saw a group of enemies on the map, the girls had to get used to fighting and all that so we went for them, That group were slimes so the girls went to practice their magic, Ann and Io had fire and ice magic respectively, Ryuji had lightning magic but he was level zero like me while the girls were level one.

The difference between level zero and level one was that at level one you unlocked a list of predetermined magic that could be used just by saying its name, no concentration required and both methods could be used at the same time, as the higher the level the list of magics increased and the energy to use them decreased.

Ryuji was not good at magic, and it took him almost a minute to concentrate to use it, so that was useless in real battle, Aigis on the other hand became discouraged because she had no magic but Pixie intervened with some wisdom.

Pixie: Even without elemental magic, you can use your magic energy to strengthen your body, making it stronger and more resilient.

Ena: How does that work?

Pixie: I'm not an expert, but I think it works by covering one's body with energy, and imagining being as hard as rock or something.

Before continuing, we practiced for a while what Pixie told us, Aigis mastered it quickly and was able to cover her entire body, while I could only cover my legs and Ryuji only his arms, I'm sure we'll master that with time.

With that training session over, I opened my bag and gave everyone some coffee.

Ann: I think you drink too much of this stuff.

Yuuki: Hey, this is to refill our magic energy, next vending machine we find, you will have your choice of drink.

Io: How can a normal drink have that kind of power?

Ena: not a clue, but this is certainly convenient.

While we were resting my phone started ringing, I took out my phone and saw an incoming call from Mitsuru, Speaking of convenient things nothing could beat this app, we all tried to contact relatives when the disaster started and only now I received a call, there's no doubt that was because of the app, after all the president didn't know what my number was.

I answered the phone and the president's elegant voice came through loud and clear.

Mitsuru: [ Oh it connected. ]

Ena: It's only been an hour, and you're already checking in on us, I thought you trusted me.

Mitsuru: [ Sorry, but that's not it, I was searching in the app and found a function for calls.]

Ena: That was a joke, but this is convenient, this trip will take us a couple of days, so it would be good to check in on each other every day.

Mitsuru: I agree, and please take this more seriously.
