Shinigami: Medicine Can't Save The Soul Reaper Society

Chapter 248: Chapter 249: "I Only Trust Doctor Senju"

Ultimately, as Sparx had initially designed...

From the moment Herald failed to flee immediately, the conclusion was inevitable.

The only surprise was how much easier Herald was to deceive than Sparx had anticipated. Reasoning alone had been enough to sway him.

Evolution...

After consuming part of Herald's mask, Sparx could distinctly feel himself edging closer to becoming an Adjuchas-class Hollow.

This efficiency in evolution was almost unimaginable for Sparx, even considering that over the past six months, he had devoured more than thirty Adjuchas to achieve this progress.

"Merciful Great Buddha of Leshan..."

As this thought crossed his mind, Sparx silently recited a Buddhist chant in his heart. At the same time, he activated his False Limbs ability, creating the illusion of "high-speed regeneration" to restore his previously severed arm.

For other Adjuchas, "high-speed regeneration" or even "super-speed regeneration" was often seen as a useless ability. Many Adjuchas willingly discarded this ability post-evolution in exchange for stronger spiritual pressure or reinforced hierro.

This was because, for Adjuchas, any part consumed by others—even if physically restored—meant a permanent loss in evolutionary potential.

However, for Sparx, his golden Buddha-like appearance was purely an illusion created by his False Limbs ability.

The massive spiritual pressure required to maintain his Buddha-like form came from regularly consuming parts of his loyal Adjuchas followers. This, he claimed, was a reflection of the compassion and benevolence preached by the supreme Great Buddha of Leshan.

This philosophy was something Sparx developed after leaving Makoto and returning to Hueco Mundo. Combining the sense of compassion and equality he had observed in Makoto and the fragments of Buddhist culture he had encountered during his month in the Human World...

Sparx... attained enlightenment.

Thus, Sparx established the Buddha School, and over the past six months, he had gathered more than ten devoted followers.

Now, as Sparx struck a pose with one hand pointing to the sky and the other to the ground, the other Adjuchas surrounding him chanted in unison:

"Amitabha, Great Buddha of Leshan..."

The Adjuchas then sat around Sparx, waiting in silence for the next Adjuchas destined to cross paths with the Great Buddha of Leshan

Meanwhile, Makoto was hosting Shuhei Hisagi and Rangiku Matsumoto at his estate. After welcoming them to the courtyard, he directed them to change into the cleaner, more formal attire provided by the Seireitei.

As Makoto idly waited, he noticed a slight surge in the spiritual energy being drawn from Sparx via the "Seed of the Forest." This unexpected development left him momentarily intrigued.

That cunning Sparx, who always hid within his shell, had made such terrifying progress?

Initially, Makoto had spared Sparx, deeming it a waste to kill him outright. After implanting the "Seed of the Forest," he had allowed Sparx to return to Hueco Mundo.

However, Makoto now had neither the time nor resources to delve into the affairs of Hueco Mundo.

Just as Makoto was deep in thought, the door to the room prepared for Rangiku creaked open slightly.

Makoto instinctively turned his head and saw Rangiku peeking out, her delicate white shoulders faintly visible as she timidly called out, her face flushed:

"Do-Doctor Senju..."

"Is something the matter?" Makoto asked.

Blushing fiercely, Rangiku stammered for a moment before finally mustering the courage to speak.

"The... the clothes are too complicated. I... don't know how to put them on."

???

Makoto was momentarily speechless.

He quickly understood her difficulty. Rangiku had grown up in the chaotic and impoverished Rukongai, where she had worn nothing but the simplest of garments. Underwear was a luxury she likely hadn't experienced, and there were even times when she lacked shoes.

Now, although Makoto had registered both Rangiku and Shuhei under the Senju household as servants, he intended to treat them as younger siblings. Thus, the clothing he had prepared for them was not the simple garb of servants but the elaborate attire of noble ladies and gentlemen.

It was entirely understandable that Rangiku found herself at a loss with such unfamiliar clothing.

After all, several months ago, Makoto himself had been equally flustered when attempting to dress the materialized Senbonzakura.

Seeing Makoto remain silent, Rangiku, her face burning with embarrassment, pleaded softly:

"Do-Doctor Senju, could you come in and help me?"

Help?

Makoto hesitated. It felt... inappropriate.

Not because he lacked the skill. After his near mishap dressing Senbonzakura, Makoto had painstakingly practiced dressing techniques to ensure he wouldn't be caught unprepared again.

Now, Makoto could expertly dress—or undress—someone in any mainstream female attire of the Soul Society.

The issue was... Gin Ichimaru. The man was risking his life as a spy, and any mishap involving his childhood friend Rangiku could lead to catastrophic misunderstandings.

Although Makoto viewed Rangiku as a younger sister, he feared unintended implications.

After a moment's thought, Makoto proposed a safer solution: "Why don't I fetch a maid from the Kuchiki household to assist you?"

"No... I only trust Doctor Senju..." Rangiku replied, her face turning an even deeper shade of red.

"Besides, during my treatments, you've already seen everything..."

Caught off guard, Makoto found himself unable to refute her reasoning. Perhaps he was overthinking this.

"Alright then..." Makoto finally agreed, stepping into Rangiku's room through the slightly open door and closing it behind him.

To avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings with Shuhei, who might emerge first, Makoto erected a temporary kido barrier to block spiritual energy and sound from escaping the room.

---

Meanwhile, not far from the Senju estate, Yachiru Kusajishi and Unohana led a group of female Shinigami towards Makoto's residence.
