Chapter 1249: Final battle with demons (9)
Regardless of how easy or hard it was, it was something that still had to be done.
That was why I had the wyverns withdraw after a single blast.
The Dullahans looked like they wanted to do more against these wyverns, so they raised their hands as if they were pointing at them.
While the Dullahans were pointing up, it was as if there was this strange black energy that
appeared at the tips of their fingers. It was as if they were gathering their energy for something.
The moment that this happened, I deeply knitted my brows.
That was because I knew what they were doing.
This was one of the abilities that the Dullahans had inherited from the game.
It was a special curse that would set a death timer on the target that the Dullahan used the curse on. This timer would be for an hour and after an hour, if the Dullahan wasn't killed or if the curse wasn't dispelled with a high grade purification spell, then the target would die.
The target that the Dullahans were aiming at were the same wyverns that they had paralyzed. The only other way to resist the curse of the Dullahan was to be at a higher grade than the Dullahan which would give a natural resistance.
However, this case didn't apply to the wyverns since they were lower ranked than the Dullahan.
But before the Dullahans could finish gathering the dark energy that they needed to cast this special curse, there was this slash of elemental energy that flew out through their lines. It cut through several of the horses that the Death Knights were riding on and even cut down a few of the Death Knights before reaching the Dullahans.
The Dullahans could tell that these elemental slashes posed a threat, so they stopped gathering that dark energy and unsheathed their swords to slash back at these elemental slashes.
However, it wasn't as if the dark energy that they gathered was wasted.
Instead of being used as a curse, it was instead channeled into the sword of the Dullahan and used to increase the power of the swing.
The elemental slash was shattered with a single swing of the Dullahan's sword and there was even a slash of dark energy that was sent out from the Dullahan's sword.
The target of that dark energy slash was where the elemental energy slash came from.
It was just that there was nothing left there.
The one that had sent that elemental slash had already moved out of the way, so all that the dark energy slash hit were the Death Knights that were still in front of the Dullahan.
That didn't matter as the Death Knights easily reformed even though they had been shattered apart by the dark energy slash of the Dullahan.
That was the advantage that undead had.
As long as there was enough dark energy for them, they would be able to reform endlessly.
That was why they were known as the undead.
But during this time, there was something that snuck past the Death Knights that were reforming. This thing suddenly came up to the Dullahan and jumped out while swinging the bone sword in its hand.
As the bone sword was being swung, there was a bright light that appeared around that bone sword.
It was the light of elemental energy.
This was the culprit that had attacked the Dullahan just now and even the Dullahan could tell that this was the case. Only the Dullahan had been caught off guard by the appearance of this thing.
It was a Death Knight that had jumped out to attack the Dullahan.
The Dullahan wasn't able to raise its sword in time to block this slash, so the only thing that it could do was use its glare against this Death Knight. But it was surprised to find that the glare that it had didn't do anything to the Death Knight, almost as if it was protected against it. So all the Dullahan could do was gather the dark energy around itself to form a barrier. When the elemental energy slash clashed against the dark energy barrier, there was a moment where it seemed like it was about to break through. But in the end, the dark energy barrier shattered the elemental energy slash that hit it.
The Dullahan didn't even waste a single beat as it raised the sword in its other hand and went to cut down this Death Knight in front of it.
Only before it could, there was another Death Knight that appeared behind it that suddenly slashed the hand that was holding the sword.
This time, the Dullahan didn't have the same dark energy barrier around itself since it was gathering that dark energy in its sword to release that slash.
That meant that the elemental energy slash was able to cut right through the Dullahan's hand, making it drop the sword.
There were two more Death Knights that appeared at the same time and slashed at the Dullahan with their elemental energy slashes, but the Dullahan was able to channel its dark energy back into itself to create a barrier that shattered on contact.
This was a barrier that was made in haste, so it wasn't as strong as the previous one.
When it was over, the Dullahan had been knocked off its horse and it was in a very sorry shape on the ground.
However, it wasn't as if the Dullahan was defeated yet.
The hand that had been cut off slowly made its way back towards the Dullahan, as if there was something that was pulling it over.
Before it could reattach itself, there was a rain of flame breaths and spells that fell down on
the Dullahan.
The wyverns had come back with a vengeance.
This didn't just happen with a single Dullahan, but rather with all five of the Dullahans that
led the Death Knight cavalry.
All of them were hit at the same time.
