Chapter 1252: Final battle with demons (12)
The troops from the four empires had been watching the fight between the Dullahans and the Elemental Death Knights as well, but they didn't remain idle once the demons started
moving.
Though they did wait for the demons to move first just so they could catch the demons off guard.
Catching the demons off guard like this allowed them to rain their attacks down on the demons like this.
That stopped the demons from approaching the undead to help.
The demons only staggered for a few seconds before trying to push towards the Dullahans and Death Knights again.
All that did was result in them being bombarded by another wave of attacks from the four empires.
It seemed that the four empires did not want to allow the demons to get anywhere near the Dullahans and the Death Knights. Of course, that only made sense since allowing them to rescue them would mean allowing them to save a powerful enemy.
Right now, the Dullahans and Death Knights seemed trapped and it was only a matter of time before they were taken out.
If they allowed them to rescue the Dullahans and the Death Knights, then that would be bad. So the generals came to a decision that they couldn't allow this to happen.
Even the general from the Democratic Union that spoke out against the use of undead in the first place couldn't allow this to happen.
The most important thing right now was the survival of the human race and this was a war that decided that.
Everything else was insignificant compared to that.
After being bombarded twice, it seemed that the demons had adapted.
They had suffered some losses, but that wasn't enough to disparage them from trying again. Only this time, it was the demons with corruption energy that were moved to the front.
Even if there was another barrage of attacks that followed after the second barrage, it didn't do much damage since the demons with the corruption energy came forward to tank it.
The only thing that the troops of the four empires could do was move the Holy Empire's troops forward in an attempt to deal with them.
They also looked at the group of wyverns as if they were hoping for some kind of reinforcements, but it didn't seem like it was coming.
Of course, this couldn't be blamed on the group of wyverns since they were busy dealing with the Dullahans and the Death Knights.
So the only thing that the troops of the four empires could do was brace for a hard fight.
As long as they stalled long enough for the Dullahans and Death Knights to be taken out, then it would be enough.
The demons also knew that they were on a deadline, so they started pushing even harder against the human troops.
While they were engaged in this fighting, it didn't seem like they noticed something.
They were completely focused on their one objective that they didn't really notice that there was something that was approaching them from below.
It was the same thing where they were trapped by the golems that appeared under their feet. They were stuck like flies in a fly trap with the way that their feet just stuck to the ground.
This made it so that the attacks of the troops from the four empires hit them head on and dealt a large amount of damage.
They really didn't expect the golems to suddenly appear again like this.
But the golem wasn't the only thing that appeared.
There were fireballs that suddenly rained down from behind the demon lines.
Most of the powerful troops of the demons had been gathered in the front to counter the powerful troops from the four empires. So the ones that were in the back were those that were either injured or were weak to begin with.
They had no resistance at all to these fireballs that landed on them.
There were many demons that fell to these fireballs that appeared all of sudden, but there were confused looks on the faces of the demons that were close to where the fireballs landed.
That was because since they were so close, they were able to tell that these fireballs seemed similar.
These fireballs were like the fireballs that the undead had used earlier.
Only they didn't have the time to think too much about this as there were more fireballs that came at them. At the same time, there was a tremble in the ground as if there were many things that were moving on it at the same time.
When the dust settled, they saw that there was a large army of undead that were charging at them.
The demons were shocked and confused by this army of undead that appeared.
After all, they didn't think that there would be this army of undead that would suddenly appear like this.
But since it was an army of the undead, that meant that they had time to group and get ready for the attack since the undead moved slowly.
The demons clashed against the undead and immediately shattered their lines.
Since the demons were stronger than humans individually and these were just normal undead, that meant that they were able to break through the lines of undead without a single problem. The undead were sent flying in batches by the strength of the demons, but they kept reforming even though they were sent flying.
After all, it wasn't as if the demons could use the same holy magic as the humans to take care of the undead.
The only way that they could take care of the undead was to shatter them until they finally ran out of energy.
But it didn't seem like the undead would run out of energy that quickly as they continued to
reform.
It seemed that whoever created these undead had quite the pool of mana.
So the only thing that the demons could do was keep smashing the undead.
But there was still something that they wanted to know.
Where did all of these undead come from?
