In the end, the silence was broken by the president.

With a smile on his face, he looked at me and asked, "Your majesty, what do you think of our Democratic Union?"

I was a bit taken aback to be asked this all of sudden and I didn't understand what he meant by this exactly, but the president didn't seem to mean anything with the way that he looked at me.

The gaze that he looked at me with, it was almost as if he was genuinely curious about what I thought of the Democratic Union.

Only I didn't really believe that he would ask me this just to find out what I thought.

It was clear that he had ulterior motives for asking this.

But since I didn't know what he wanted to hear…

"I think that it's quite an interesting place. There's many different things that I've never seen before, so I'm quite curious about how they work."

A bit of praise and an ambiguous answer, that was the best way to go.

It would make sure that I wouldn't reveal too much about myself while also not leaving a bad impression.

It was just that this wasn't the answer that the president wanted.

"Is that so? I thought that you would want to know more about our special machines, the ones that our soldiers use." The president said this in a way that was almost as if he was teasing me.

I couldn't help feeling that the way that he said this was a bit strange, but it wasn't as if there was anything that I could actually say about this.

So I just waved my hands and said, "How could that be? Those are the secrets of your country, it isn't something that I can even dream about."

"Maybe, but what if I said that we're willing to do a trade with you?" The president said with the same teasing smile.

At this point, it really was hard to tell if he was being serious or not.

There was a part of him that seemed serious, but at the same time…there was a part of him that didn't.

It was the smile on his face that made it seem like he was just playing around.

Without a proper understanding of what kind of personality he had, it really was hard to guess what he was thinking.

Which was why it was hard for me to figure out just what his goals were.

"What kind of trade?" I slowly asked in the end when I couldn't figure out what else to say.

The president just said with the same smile on his face, "It's very simple. I'm interested in a few of those wyverns of yours while you're interested in my toys. In that case, we should just make a simple exchange."

As expected, he was after the wyverns.

However, it was surprising to hear that he would be willing to trade weapons for them…

No, as he called it, they were toys in his eyes.

That meant that whatever he was planning to trade would definitely be something that wouldn't be considered that valuable to him. He would most likely give us some of the low tech magic weapons that they had, but that was still more than the Democratic Union had ever given anyone else.

These magic weapons were special weapons that they kept for themselves and the vassals that they took. These were not weapons that they gave to outsiders that easily, unless there was a special connection to the Democratic Union.

But I couldn't help wondering why he needed them in the first place.

When asked, the president said, "I want to patrol the land of the Democratic Union to ensure the safety of our people. Is there anything better to do that with than with the wyverns?"

Though he said this in a calm voice, I could tell that these weren't his true intentions.

Rather, the spark in his eyes gave everything away.

A tyrant was a tyrant in the end, it was impossible for him to hide what made him him.

Though he said that he was doing it for everyone's safety, the real reason that he wanted these wyverns was so that he could use them to keep an eye on everyone in the country.

In the first place, though this place was known as the Democratic Union, everyone knew that it was a military state. The one that was in charge was the one that was in charge of the military.

So that meant that with more military presence, they would have more power.

If they could watch over the entire country…

Well, it wasn't hard to guess what would happen once the president of the Democratic Union obtained the wyverns that would allow him to watch over everyone.

And of course, I wasn't obliged to give it to him.

The Democratic Union didn't have a good relationship with our Kite Kingdom in the first place. They had shown their hostility all along, so it wasn't as if I would be fooled by the president's sudden change in attitude.

Giving them wyverns was just giving them wings to become stronger.

"Is something wrong? I heard that you had too many wyverns, so you were looking for someone to help with watching over them. I'm sure that we can provide the right support for you in this matter." The president urged me on, but I wasn't buying it.

I was just thinking of a way to tactfully decline this trade offer of his.

But in the end, it seemed that there was no need for me to decline.

"I told you not to disturb me and my guest!" The president said these words, but he still looked at the messenger that came in with narrowed eyes, as if he was waiting for him to hand something over.
