We were sent to a hotel to rest.

The president excused himself by saying that there was something that he had to take care of, but the look on his face when he read that report made it very clear that something big was happening.

Or it could be said that he really couldn't hide his emotions at all with the look that he revealed.

So in the end, we were brought to a hotel where rooms had been prepared for us.

Though it was hard to sleep since there was still something that had to be done.

Not only that, it was quite noisy with all the different things that were happening outside.

The hotel that we had been put in was one that was one that was considered high end. It was only natural that this would be the case since we were considered important guests of the Democratic Union.

But since this hotel was a high end one, it meant that the people that wandered around this place were those that were high ranked in the Democratic Union as well. Or they held a status that would give them more information than normal people.

Even though it didn't seem like they were planning to talk to us, one could see that there was something that they were worried about.

Or rather, it seemed that there was something that had them quite worked up.

"Something has happened." The two popes said when they came to my room.

I looked at them like this was obvious since it was clear that something had happened, but I didn't say anything to them since I knew that they were here for a reason.

"What have you found?"

The two of them were silent for a bit as if they were thinking things through before suddenly saying, "It's not much, but we've been able to hear a few things. The one thing that's caught our attention is the word…corruption."

"As expected, it really is that." I said before falling into thought.

Seeing the way that I looked, the two popes asked, "Could it be that the forces of destruction have done something?"

This was the first thought that I had as well, but I quickly dismissed it.

If the forces of destruction had made a move, then there would have been clear signs of this. After all, the forces of destruction weren't the kind of enemies that would move silently.

Once they made a move, things would be much noisier than this.

It didn't seem like it was the forces of destruction that were causing this to happen.

Though I did understand why they thought this was the case.

After what we learned, we knew that the corruption energy was actually the energy of destruction. Since it had the effect of destroying things that it came in contact with, it seemed like it was corrupting it.

That was why the Merman Empire had called it corruption energy in the first place.

Now it didn't seem like it fit, but it wasn't as if it could be changed after everyone had already gotten used to calling it corruption energy. Even the humans had gotten used to calling it corruption energy, so it wasn't as if it was that easy to get them to stop.

"It has to be the Relic of Destruction, something must have happened to it."

That was the conclusion that I came to in the end and the moment that I came to this conclusion, both of the popes deeply knitted their brows.

They looked at me as if they wanted to confirm this, but there was nothing that I could say to them since I wasn't certain either. I was only guessing at this point, though I was pretty certain that this guess of mine was correct.

The only thing that I had to do now was figure out a way to head into those ruins.

I had to make sure that the Relic of Destruction was alright since that was the reason that I had come here in the first place.

However, it didn't seem easy with the way that the Democratic Union seemed to be sealing everything up. It didn't seem like they wanted any interference by any outsiders…

It really didn't seem like there was a gap to exploit to sneak into the ruins.

Only there was no need to sneak into the ruins in the end.

That was because we were allowed to openly enter it.

That was because they needed…

"We need your help. Please help us purify the corruption energy that has appeared in our land."

The president was the one that was making this request, so it couldn't be more official than this. However, I was surprised that the Democratic Union would even admit that there was a problem and request for help.

Even if each of the four empires had agreed to work together against the corruption energy and the mastermind behind it, it wasn't as if they would reveal everything to each other.

Something that would show weakness like this seemed like one of those things that they would want to hide, especially from another one of the four empires.

But now they were asking for help…

It seemed that the situation was very dire for them to do something like this.

It was widely known that only the Holy Empire had a way to deal with the corruption energy properly, but to help the other human countries that had been affected, the Holy Empire had been sending them holy water that was filled with holy mana.

The Democratic Union was one of those that had stocked up on this holy water.

For their stocks to have no effect…

Well, in the end, it didn't matter since this also helped us achieve our goals.

"Alright, we'll help you." I said without the two popes saying anything.

The president didn't say anything at first as he waited for a response from the two popes and he was surprised to see that they nodded in agreement.

He was surprised that I could actually speak for the two of them…

Still, since he had accomplished his goal, there was no reason for him not to accept this.

With that, we headed to the ruins where the Relic of Destruction was sealed.
