The City of Veyrith

The City of Veyrith was located at the edge of the Ashen Wastes, it stood atop a sprawling plateau of jagged black stone, far from the turbulent region of the Shattered Sea.

The first thing that struck travellers approaching Veyrith was its Obsidian Spires. The spires were tall, gleaming towers that pierced the sky like dark needles. These spires were the city's defining feature, made of smooth black stone that shimmered faintly under the golden light of the Stairs of Ascension.

Despite their ominous appearance, the spires gave Veyrith an air of grandeur, as though the city was meant to be a monument to something greater than itself.

The streets of Veyrith were paved with polished obsidian slabs that reflected the red glow of the ever-burning lanterns fueled by the unique chaos energy of the Shattered Dimension.

The buildings though were mostly made of stone, were adorned with intricate carvings and faintly glowing runes that gave off a pale silver light at night. These runes weren't just decorations, they were defensive wards designed to protect the city from the dangerous abominations of the Ashen Wastes.

At the centre of the city was the Veiled Nexus, a sprawling complex of interconnected towers and halls that served as the city's hub for trade, governance, and learning. The Nexus was surrounded by an expansive plaza where merchants from distant regions set up stalls to sell rare goods, from shimmering fabrics to weapons and ancient relics scavenged from several hidden and dangerous locations in the Shattered Dimension.

In the largest library of Veyrith was a young man with an extremely handsome face that would put that of gods, immortals, and devils to shame. He had deep violet and light blue eyes, and his herculean physique made it seem like he could snap the neck of a lion with ease.

The young man flipped through a book with his head resting on his right hand. With every second that passed, the young man would turn to a new page, making it seem like he was absentmindedly flipping through the book without reading a single word.

However, when one looked to the young man's left, right, and back, one would be shocked and baffled by the sight of the mountain of books.

This young man was Corey, and approximately six minutes later, Corey placed the book on top of the right pile of books with a nonchalant expression but a pondering glint in his eyes.

He closed his eyes for some minutes, and then he stood, He glanced at the pile of books around him, and then he picked up the nearest book and placed it on the shelf close to him.

As he did this, the words- "Paragon, do you know what you've done?", reverberated in his mind constantly as he placed the books on the shelf.

From the moment he heard those words in the Realm above the Eternal Waterfall, the fear and uncertainty that gripped his heart could not be put into words.

Corey had almost panicked and decided to leave behind his Master and Melissa in an attempt to completely escape the Shattered Sea.

Ever since he became a Demi-Paragon, he had never come across a being that knew he was a Demi-Paragon nor had he encountered a being that knew of Paragons and Supremes.

One reason for this was because of Nina who made sure that no one saw his true status window, except for Pamela. Another reason is that the Paragons and Supremes were only known to those who belonged or had connections to the elite organizations of the universe.

The voice that had revealed what he actually was, was strange and although it sounded like Vaerina, it was different. Corey had no idea if it was Vaerina or the skull which had been in Vaerina's bloated stomach that knew of his identity as a Paragon.

After leaving the Shattered Sea, Corey, Melissa, and Old Man Poison went to the City of Drennath under disguises. While he was hiding in the City of Drennath, he decided to ask Nina some questions.

Although he made it a habit not to ask Nina questions regarding most things, the answers to questions related to Paragons and Supremes were not easy to come by, and due to the urgency of the matter, he knew that he could not waste time finding the answers to these questions.

The first question he asked her was the identity of the being that had identified her, and what he learned at the end of the day frightened him.

According to Nina, Vaerina had three souls in her. The first was Vaerina's actual soul as an abomination, the second was the soul of an ancient Ascendant, and the third was the soul that belonged to the skull in Vaerina's bulging stomach.

The being that spoke to him was the soul of the ancient Ascendant, and according to Nina, the three souls in Vaerina's body were in a state of constant battle. However, the soul of the Ancient Ascendant and Vaerina's actual soul were fighting against the soul that belonged to the skull in Vaerina's bulging stomach.

When Corey heard this, he asked what entity, or being, or creature the skull belonged to, however, Nina told him that he didn't have to worry about that because the knowledge was not something that would help him at the moment.

Corey wanted to refute this statement by saying that no knowledge was wasted and useless, however, Nina told him that there was something more important for him to learn than the identity of the owner of the skull.

And that was the presence of a Supreme in the Shattered Dimension.

To Corey's disbelief and horror, Nina told him that there was a Supreme in the Shattered Dimension and the reason why the soul of the ancient Ascendant had said those words was because his act of taking the ancient pot had weakened the seal of the Supreme that was scattered across the Shattered Dimension.
