Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 559: 558: Do You Know, Cap?

The expressions of Dave and Corey were one to behold as they gazed at the fear-stricken Divine who had just uttered the weirdest words he could ever utter in his life.

Corey had a baffled expression that vividly portrayed the words- "What in the absolute fuck?"

Meanwhile, Dave had a fearful expression with a tinge of frustration.

"Ah, I completely forgot about this. His strangest fear." Dave mumbled with a tinge of fear in his tone.

Corey turned and looked at Dave with raised brows, "His strangest fear?"

Dave nodded, "This is the ability of one of the countless abominations in The Labyrinth."

"The abomination brings out the strangest fear in your subconsciousness, and at completely random times, or if the person is asleep, or the person encounters something or a situation which is similar to this fear, the person would be triggered and would become hysterical."

Dave paused, slowly gesturing at Divine, "Like him."

Corey frowned deeply when he heard this, and he glanced at Divine who was breathing heavily while looking around in panic. He was prepared to stop Divine in case he suddenly went crazy and tried to run out of the room, however, and fortunately, Divine did not move from his spot.

Corey shifted his gaze to Dave, "How do we… bring him back to normal?"

Dave's lips curled up slightly with a slightly frustrated expression on his face, "You knock some sense into him."

Corey's eyes flickered, and he looked at Divine with a strange but dangerous glint in his eyes. "Like this?"

Pa!

Without waiting for a response from Dave, Corey slapped Divine's head, causing his head to wobble and his eyes to become dazed.

Dave's lips twitched, and for some inexplicable reason, he had the urge to laugh but the respect he heard for Divine made him suppress the urge. However…

He coughed softly with a light smile on his lips, "You're right. Just like that."

He failed to suppress the smile that appeared on his lips.

Corey nodded with a stoic expression, but the light of satisfaction could not be hidden in his eyes as he gazed at the dazed Divine.

Approximately eight seconds later, Divine grabbed his head with a pained expression, and a groan escaped his lips.

He looked around with a confused expression, and for a moment, he failed to register the presence of Corey and Dave. He shook his head, and after looking around one more time, his eyes landed on Corey.

He blinked twice with a blank expression, but his eyes later widened in disbelief. He pointed at Corey, and he cursed out loud.

"Bloody hell! How did you appear in The Labyrinth?"

Slap

A crisp slap resounded in the room, and Divine instantly held the back of his head with wide eyes.

"What the fuck?!"

He faced Dave with an expression filled with anger, and Dave instantly had an apologetic expression.

"Oh. I'm so sorry, Cap. I was aiming to hit Smile Reaper, but I missed. Sigh… The disadvantages of being blind."

"..." Corey.

"..." Divine.

Corey's mouth was slightly open when he heard this, and he genuinely had a shocked and stunned expression as he gazed at Dave who had a 'sincere' apologetic expression.

He shifted his gaze towards Divine who was sitting on the floor, and he saw Divine's left eye twitch repeatedly.

"You damn alcoholic maniac."

Divine gritted his teeth as he uttered those words, and Dave smiled.

"Thanks for the compliment, Cap."

Divine's lips and fingers twitched, and then he inhaled and exhaled deeply. He glanced at Corey, and then he furrowed his brows for a few seconds before speaking.

"Does this mean that your plan worked, Dave?"

A smile appeared on Dave's lips, "Fortunately, it did."

Divine released a sigh of relief and was about to speak, but Dave interrupted him.

"Fortunately, it did or we'd be dead because of your damn deal with the Central Lord."

Divine choked on his saliva and was about to retort Dave's words, but Dave continued without giving Divine the chance to speak.

"Do you know how many times we almost died because you could not fight the Outsiders and other prisoners of the Underworld? We were ambushed, attacked, chased, and unable to get proper rest, all because of your damn deal."

"Do you know how difficult and stressful it was for me to protect not only myself but yourself? Do you know how many times I almost died because you could not fight back?"

"Do you know, Cap?"

Dave gave a 'harmless' smile as he 'looked' at Divine with closed eyes. Divine looked down with a sheepish expression, and he muttered softly.

"It's not like you didn't benefit from following me in The Labyrinth."

"..." Dave's right eye twitched, and Corey could have sworn that he saw the corners of Dave's lips curl upward in a creepy manner for a moment before returning back to normal.

'Why do I feel suddenly feel sorry for Divine?'

Corey thought with a soft chuckle in his mind as he glanced at Divine who failed to notice the quick change in Dave's expression. He shifted his gaze from Divine to Dave and spoke.

"How did you guys escape The Labyrinth?"

Dave glanced at him, and with a click of his tongue, he leaned back into the chair, and then he replied.

"One of the strangeness of The Labyrinth is that whenever the bell chimes, the Tainteds and Outsiders inside are teleported like every other Outsider and Tainted without an Ancient Stone or a seal of a settlement with an Ancient Stone."

"However, those in the Labyrinth are not teleported outside the Labyrinth but to another location in The Labyrinth. An Ancient Stone in The Labyrinth is used so that one would not be teleported to a completely random and most likely, more dangerous location in the Labyrinth."

"This is why it's said that no one is meant to be able to leave The Labyrinth alive."

Dave took a deep breath, then continued with a soft shake of his head.

"For us to leave the Labyrinth, we had to take advantage of locations in the Labyrinth where the space has already been weakened. We kept our Ancient Stone in our inventories, and after performing some divinations, I was able to know when next the bell would chime."

"When the bell chimed, there was a ripple in the weakened space, and we jumped into it… Fortunately, everything worked out in the end."

Dave took in a deep breath after saying all these, he smacked his lips, and then he muttered softly. "Damn it, my throat is parched."

He clicked his tongue, and in the next second, a bottle of alcohol appeared in his right hand. With a flick of his finger, he removed the cork on the bottle and drank a huge gulp.

"Much better." He heaved a huge sigh of satisfaction, and both Corey and Divine had strange expressions.
