Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 558: 557: The Labyrinth

The moment Dave 'saw' Corey's suspicious look, he raised his hands with a chuckle.

"Don't look at me like that. It's not what you think."

Corey's brows rose, "What am I thinking?"

Dave's lips twitched, and with a tired sigh, he chugged down multiple mouthfuls of the alcohol in his hand.

"To tell you the truth… you're the only Tier 2 I've encountered whom I've not been able to divine a single thing about. The times I tried divining whether you'd be a danger to the group, I suffered a backlash, and I needed fifteen fucking bottles of top quality, bloody fucking expensive, alcohol to negate the effects of the backlash."

"I also needed to pay a stupidly high price just to request the services of one of the healers of the Destroyers of Darkness."

Dave cursed once again with a frustrated and pained expression as he recalled the past. He chugged down another mouthful of the alcohol, and then he pointed at Corey with the hand holding the bottle of alcohol.

"In conclusion, what I'm trying to tell you, our dear Smile Reaper, is that, no, I have absolutely no idea what you're thinking… Besides, Seers cannot read minds."

Dave mumbled the last words softly, and then he drank from the bottle of alcohol once more.

Corey gazed at Dave from up to down, and he noticed that apart from the superficial cuts and bruises on his clothes and body, he had no other injuries. However, his aura and mana were turbulent, and Corey knew that Dave was most likely trying to regulate the flow of his mana.

Corey glanced at Divine, and then he sat on the bed, leaving Divine on the floor with his bloodied clothes and body.

There was absolutely no way Corey was going to let Divine sleep on his bed with how dirty he was.

Shifting his focus from Divine to Dave, he asked with a curious expression.

"Since you said you got to Veyrith the same way Divine did, that means the bell chime was what teleported you to this place?"

Dave nodded while moving the only chair in the room close to him. He sat on it, and then he took a sip of the alcohol in his right hand.

Although Corey found it strange that both Divine and Dave appeared in the City of Veyrith after the bell chimed, he decided not to think too much about it. He decided to attribute it as a coincidence.

"Where were you before the bell chimed?" Corey asked, and Dave wryly smiled with a slight tremble in his hands.

"We were in a death zone called The Labyrinth." Dave shivered, however, Corey caught the strange use of words in what Dave just said.

"We?"

He asked, and Dave nodded.

"Yes, we. Unfortunately, Cap and I were teleported to The Labyrinth when we arrived in the Shattered Dimension, and we almost died in that damn place."

Corey raised his brows when he heard this, and he could not help but become curious. He remembered The Clown describing The Labyrinth and The Nexus of Madness as the only two places that had almost killed him.

Although The Clown never mentioned The Morphing Expanse, The Raging Sky, and The Shattered Sea, he had described these places. However, he never for once said these places had almost killed him.

'I wonder just how powerful The Clown is, and what his abilities are.'

Corey thought with intrigue, and then he recalled Divine's severe change in expression and mood the moment the first time The Clown showed himself in the Underworld.

'Divine knows something about The Clown… I wonder what it is.'

Corey hummed slightly with an interested expression, and with his right leg crossed over his left leg, he spoke.

"What was The Labyrinth like? I've not been able to gather a lot of information regarding that place despite reading so much." Enjoy new tales from My Virtual Library Empire

Dave drank from the bottle of alcohol, but just as he was about to respond, he realized that the bottle of alcohol was now empty. He clicked his tongue, and then he dropped it on the floor close to his leg.

He released a deep sigh with his eyes closed, and then he replied.

"Well, I don't know how to explain The Labyrinth because it's an extremely confusing place. It's an extremely large maze that's always changing every twelve hours, and every time it changes, the dangers one would face would also change."

"Most of the abominations are not normal abominations at all. Although most of them are creepy and horrifying, their powers are not like normal powers at all."

"Some can make you believe that you're friends with them if you're not careful. Some can make you so hungry for flesh and blood that you'll have an immense desire to eat those around you, and if there's no one around you, you'll eat yourself."

"Some can even control your body if you're not careful or caught off guard, and some can make travel through mirrors. Some can even turn you into a girl, and there are some places where you won't face a creature but a region where space and time would be distorted or where the region would be against you."

"What I just mentioned are creatures with weird abilities, but there are still some creatures with normal abilities. However, most of them are extremely powerful."

Dave shivered slightly with a wry chuckle, and then he shook his head.

"There's only one path that leads outside The Labyrinth, however, you'll need to be immensely lucky and as powerful as a Tier 6 to survive the dangers at the exit and leave with your life intact."

"The Labyrinth is not a place where one is allowed to leave. Once you enter, you're meant to die inside."

Dave said with a grave tone, and Corey furrowed his brows slightly. He glanced at Divine for a second before shifting his gaze back at Dave.

"How did you now escape the Labyrinth?"

Corey asked, but just as Dave was about to reply, Divine sat up straight with wide fearful bloodshot eyes.

"I said I don't want any more cucumbers, Mother!"

"..." Corey.

"..." Dave.
