Chapter 858: 855: Terrifying
The Eclipse Slayer title was a Title that many beings would die for because of its effects.
However, it was not so appealing to Corey.
Its Title Effect which provided a minor passive suppression on Demi-Eldritch Beings was another reason why he was not so attracted towards it.
Demi-Eldritch Beings meant beings that had traces of Eldritch Beings. They were not truly Eldritch Beings, and Corey could use himself as an example of this.
He was not truly a Paragon, but a Demi-Paragon.
If there was a suppression skill that could work on Demi-Paragons, he would be affected and True Paragons would not be affected in the slightest by the skill.
But if there was a suppression skill that worked on True Paragons, he would be severely affected.
Although what he had been encountering were in truth Demi-Eldritch creatures, he could still handle them.
Assuming the Title had an effect that could weaken True Eldritch Beings, he would definitely consider it or even choose it because of how powerful and useful the skill would be.
But for one to attain a Title like that?
They must either be extremely lucky or must have killed lots of True Eldritch Beings.
Unfortunately, Eclipse Slayer had no effect on True Eldritch Beings.
Another thing that surprised him was that this was the first Title the Universal System gave him a detailed explanation on what it could do.
He had a lot of Titles, but he had no definite idea on what they could do.
He would not have been surprised if the Universal System refused to give a detailed description on what it could do, but it did.
And he could not help but wonder if it was because it was a reward, or if it's because he was in a System Trial, or if it's because of something else entirely.
Although he wasn't sure, he took note of it, and was looking forward to when he would know about what his Titles could do.
The next reward on the list was the Core of Eidolon.
----
[Core of Eidolon]: The refined essence of Eidolon's soul, still laced with unstable spatial-temporal runes and fragmented conceptual threads.
- Can be forged into a weapon or consumed for insight.
-Warning: Potentially Catastrophic... or Revelatory
----
Unlike what some people might think, the Core of Eidolon was not his energy core like a mana core.
No.
It was a core that was constructed using its soul, and according to the Universal System's definition of the core.
Eidolon's soul had spatial-temporal runes and something called conceptual threads.
It was Corey's first time hearing of conceptual threads, and he scoured through his mind to see if he had come across the words- conceptual threads before... And he had not.
Although he had no use of the spatial-temporal runes since he control the void, and most especially since the runes were unstable.
However, the fragmented conceptual threads were extremely appealing to him.
It was a different sort of power he had never heard of before, and he had an idea as to what the power was.
And it was a little bit tempting to Corey.
According to the System, the core could be consumed to gain insight, and despite the Universal System's warning, he had a feeling that he would be able to gain a lot from consuming the core.
However, he ignored the temptations of the core because the concepts and powers it contained was limited to Eidolon.
No matter how high the potential of Eidolon was, it could not match that of a Paragon or a Supreme.
After Eidolon's Core, the next reward was a rune fragment.
----
4.[Void-Spliced Rune Fragment]
- A strange rune fragment born from the flash of Void and Oblivion.
- Effect: Enhances Void-based skills significantly.
- Passive Effect: Slight chance of severing an opponent's skill before activation.
- Warning: Too volatile to be merged with the soul without stabilization.
----
This reward was slightly confusing to Corey, and even its definition of how it was created was also confusing to him.
However, what was not confusing to him was its effects.
It could enhance his void skills, and it also had a passive effect which gave him a slight chance to sever an opponent's skill before activation.
The thought of his void skills being enhanced was also appealing to Corey when he thought deeply about it.
Although he had no idea how much enhancement his void skills would gain, any enhancement regardless of how small was a good enhancement.
It could just be the difference between life and death.
Also, the passive effect it had to severe an opponent's skill before it was ever activated was something he had never come across before.
He had no idea how such a thing was possible, and what sort of power was used to do such a thing.
Was it a concept?
Was it something else apart from concept?
Or was it the power of the void?
Could the void do such a thing?
Corey had no idea, but he skipped the reward without looking back at it.
As tempting as it was, there was just one reason as to why he was not interested in the skill.
And that's because it was just a fragment- Void-Spliced Rune Fragment.
He was not bothered about the warning.
----
Warning: Too volatile to be merged with the soul without stabilization.
----
He had a Cosmic Soul, and he sincerely believed that his soul would be able to fuse with the rune fragment despite how powerful and unique it was.
But it was just a fragment, and Corey believed that if it dealt with the powers of the void, he would be able to gain such powers in the future.
If the last two rewards were not available, he would have seriously considered the rune fragment.
But the next reward was something he felt he should have.
-----
5. [Maledro's Gu Evolution Catalyst]
- A deep black seed laced with death qi and mutated toxins.
- When given to your swarm of Maledro's Gu undergoing metamorphosis, this item will accelerate and provide an evolutionary path toward a Plague King Hive.
- Effect: Your Gu gains sapience, and a unique Gu Path Domain would be opened up to you.
----
A reward that could make his Gu much more dangerous and terrifying.
